Also, what kind of company announces a version delay THE DAY BEFORE IT RELEASES?

Hopefully your PR guy isn't involved in development. Although that would explain a lot.

Just come out and say it that there's no upgrade.

Now way for an opt-in waiver for those who do want to take the risk of not being able to flash back?

Is what it is, but for those of you saying that it’s so you buy the new xr500 router I think your talking rubbish, if that was the case I’m sure they would tell you the update isn’t available for r1 users, least it will be hopefully ready for black ops 4 😝😝😝

So many cry babies in this thread, grow up kids. It's a new OS it's not life or death, nothing wrong with the OG R1 as far as I know.

I'm sure they didn't see this coming but I'm sure all you guys complaining did right ? No reason to start bashing the Duma team again, just like when the Nighthawk was released or the last time an update was released later than they had announced, shit happens.

The timing is less than ideal and I do keep telling them not to announce a release date as it always ends this way.I'm all for being kept in the dark about the releases that way if they don't happen on schedule, nobody knows but Netduma.

But they like to keep people updated as best they can and all they get is shit for it.We can all be disappointed (I was looking forward to it also) but no reason for all the badmouthing them.

They must be doing something right as the do have SW on the hottest gaming router in the world so they got skills. The release is just delayed not postponed, not cancelled...just delayed.

frustrated I just got a new NETDUMA, and I can't connect, how do I get the password for the Wi-Fi

:P

Fuzzy Clam, if you want to be a gullible nitwit go ahead. You dont announce legal issues with an update the day before. They knew this was the deal, and played us. Now if you dont agree ok thats your opinion. But if you cant see right through this i feel sorry for you and what your working with upstairs

You got me there,I'm not very smart (never claimed to be) but maybe they were trying to get the situation fixed before the release date so they didn't have to push it back but they weren't able to get it done in time.

And again I don't have your intelligence but I'm smart enough not to believe in tin foil hat conspiracy theory's... :D

Wow, one day before promised release. This is a joke. Sorry but I am more than disappointed. Really who cares about backward compatibility when DumaOS is superior and bug-free as promised. Even if not I don't think anyone would ever want to go back. I was so hyped again and did wait all the time and again nothing. I bought it back then because of the promised update in the near future since then its more as 2 years. Yeah the actual OS is somewhat running good and does it work mostly. But really common. And this last second announcement as well.

As an R1 user for many years, I saw this coming. The Silence was deafening.

I don't agree with the excuse, since many hardware companies are providing firmware updates that can't be rolled back.

Oppo and Asus are two such companies.

I also find it hard to believe that you waited until the last day before release to ask the legal department about backwards compatibility or that your legal department waited til the last day before telling you that it needed backwards compatibility.

I have the feeling that Iain is having a terrible time trying to get the under-powered R1 hardware to work well with DUMAOS.

I'm not holding my breath for your new timetable either.

There are several companies providing very good routers with fq-codel QOS, but without the Geo-Filter of the R1.

Most gamers don't even need the Geo-filter since they live so close to dedicated servers. They just need a powerful router with good QOS.

Time will tell if these continued delays hurt Netduma or not.

EDIT: removed 'XR500 being made by Asus' comment. XR500 is a Netgear product.

yea that is odd the day before it releases, this is very disappointing. I've was hoping to have this update because we all have been waiting for this update for a while and to hear this bad news makes me believe we will never get this update and kinda be forced to buy the netgear since its the main focus now. I hope thats not the case because i will be done because im not going to drop 300 on a new router after spending 200 for the r1 thats dead.
