  1. Hello everyone, here is the first update of 2024 for the Netduma R3. This update is not available as a 1 click update from the interface, you will need to upgrade manually. Please read carefully: We have tested this firmware but not as much as we would have done normally, reason being is we wanted to get this out to people to try without any further delay SO it is possible you could see issues as with any firmware update but it's looking pretty good so far. This update does not fix every single issue that has been reported, it is possible that issues you may have that aren't covered in the change log have been resolved but if its not been mentioned don't expect it to be fixed. Please do not report issues you already have that haven't been fixed in this firmware, we know what the issues are and they're still being worked on. On the other hand if there is an issue you were having that has been fixed please do let us know as that helps just as much as reporting issues. TL:DR Don't report issues that have already been reported and that haven't been mentioned in the change log Report whether issues mentioned in the change log and issues that haven't been mentioned have been fixed Report any new issues you've encountered after upgrading Changelog: Improvements to stability of upgrade process (memory issue should be fixed) Improved performance during high bandwidth usage Fixed a bug when disabling multiple devices in Adblocker Added ability to select individual server in Ping Heatmap when servers are grouped together Improved reliability of Speed Test Reduced CPU usage of certain services that were causing ping spikes Various frontend styling fixes Firmware removed while we work to fix issues.

  2. Hi Everyone, Today we are delighted to announce that signups for the DumaOS 3.0 beta are now open - this will be gradually rolled out to everyone who signs up, over time. This is a big step. It means that after many months of hard work, we are now ready for you guys to begin testing 3.0 on your DumaOS powered routers. What is in DumaOS 3.0? It’s named 3.0 for a reason. It marks the next generation of DumaOS, our router operating system. Not only will 3.0 come with a whole bunch of new features for your router, we have also overhauled a tonne of things under the hood which will make it far easier for us to get new features to you in the future. So far, we have announced four of the eight major features coming in 3.0. You can read more about each of them here: Geo-Fencing: draw multiple Geo-Filters of any shape around your favourite server banks Application QoS: prioritize the traffic that matters the most to you by allocating bandwidth by application type e.g. gaming, streaming etc. Connection Benchmark: run a pure test of your Internet line to find out how stable your ping is and if you are getting your full bandwidth speeds Traffic Controller: block any applications, ports or devices from accessing the Internet. Feature 5: Announcing Soon Feature 6: Announcing Soon Feature 7: Announcing Soon Feature 8: Announcing Soon Further feature reveals will be posted on our blog here: https://netduma.com/blog/ How do I Signup? Netduma R1 owners - go here: https://netduma.com/dumaos-3-0-signup-for-netduma-r1/ Nighthawk Pro Gaming users (XR300, XR450, XR500, XR700) - go here: http://www.netgearinnovation.com/dumaos-beta/index.html When will I get the beta? When making a major software update like 3.0, it's normal for things to not be perfect at the start. So as much as we would love each and every one of you to get your hands on 3.0 right now, it would be risky for us to do it in one go. Instead we will be phasing the roll-out, starting off with a small number of testers. Once things are looking good, we will add some more, then more, gradually increasing until everyone who has signed up has received the upgrade. When we are ready for you to join the beta you will get an email into your inbox with instructions on how to join. Please be patient - we will email you when we are ready. Finally... We want to thank you for your support and patience during the development of 3.0. We are very aware that it has taken time. But it really has been worth it. It has allowed us to take DumaOS to the next level. Work is already underway on 3.1 and we're working on some seriously big features that will give you even more control over your lag and your network. We hope you have fun testing 3.0. The ND Team

  3. Hi everyone, We have a brand new R3 firmware for you. It includes many important fixes based on the feedback we received since the launch, including addressing issues with Steady Ping and Geo-Filter 2.0 to make them more reliable. The full change log is provided at the bottom of this thread. Over the next few days, you will be able to upgrade automatically by clicking on the 'Update Available' option in your user interface (both mobile and desktop). However, if you prefer, you can manually upgrade your R3 now using a PC or laptop by following these steps: Download the attached upgrade file. Reboot your R3 - this is a one-off as this new firmware contains improvements to make manual upgrading smoother in the future. Go to the Netduma R3 user interface on your PC/laptop. Navigate to >Settings >Troubleshooting and then click Upload Firmware. Choose the file and then upload it. You'll need to wait a few minutes for the upload to complete.. If you upgraded to version 4.0.40 last week, we recommend upgrading to this new 4.0.41 as soon as possible. The previous firmware had a niche packet reordering bug affecting login issues for games like Fortnite. It also made Geo-Filter 2.0 less reliable. These issues are now fixed in the latest release. R3-4.0.41.sig What's Next? Good news: Hybrid VPN development is complete for the R3 and is now in testing. We've redesigned the frontend for Hybrid-VPN to make it easier and clearer compared to DumaOS 3. We're excited for you to try it out! In the next few days, we'll be moving it to closed beta testing, and if all goes well, we should have it with you very soon along with fixes to make Ping Optimiser run more reliably and improved IPv6 support. Please continue to provide us with your feedback so we can keep making your R3 experience better and better. Changelog: Alternative download link. Thank you for using the Netduma R3.

  6. Hey everyone! We’re excited to provide you with the latest firmware for the R2 – DumaOS 3.3. While it doesn’t bring immediately ‘obvious’ changes like DumaOS for Mobile, DumaOS 3.3 introduces a powerful new addition – our new AutoDPI. This is a big moment for DumaOS, and it means we’ll be supporting new games and applications faster than ever without needing to wait for a firmware update. For details on what AutoDPI is and how it’s going to make things better, check out our video on it below: DumaOS 3.3 also comes with a plethora of bug fixes as well as plenty of stability and usability improvements. After extensive testing, we’re confident that DumaOS 3.3 puts the R2 is in a really good place: we hope you enjoy it. Download the firmware here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vatbro5sd02lbxm/DumaOS-R2-3.3.280.sig?dl=0 Suggest a new application/traffic source for DumaOS detection here: https://forms.gle/o58SUmDHVjtkKRYX7 Changelog Wider range of games and applications supported by DumaOS (and more to come!). Hybrid VPN no longer experiences issues when switching between Wireguard and OpenVPN. DNS settings for Hybrid VPN are now retained after reboot. 8. Hi Everyone, We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get a new update with new features and stability fixes out to you. Important Note: You may see "Critical Error: Failed to load minimum required components" after upgrade. Please ignore this message and refresh the page by pressing CTRL+F5. This will reload the page wihout cache. Changelog: Behavioural Identification is a new feature which identifies traffic based on the way it behaves. This allows us to categorise and prioritise traffic which hasn't yet been added to our DPI database, ensuring day one support for new games. It can also assume and categorise encrypted traffic based on the way that it behaves, which means that, for the first time ever, we can prioritise Gaming, Streaming and Video Calls even while you're using a VPN! New Themes have been added to DumaOS, you can now pick from Traditional Red, Gamer Green, Baby Blue or Cherry Pink WPS Support has been added. Press the WPS button on the back of your R3 to start pairing mode for 2 minutes. Translations have been added to the UI, you can now set your DumaOS to Chinese, Dutch, Spanish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish and German. If there are any incorrect translations, you can report them in the change language page. LAN Disconnections have been fixed, you shouldn’t be getting random drop-outs for wired devices anymore. Ping Optimiser has been overhauled and should be quicker and more stable than before. WiFi Auto Channel Selection has been improved, you'll get better speeds over WiFi. PPPoE VLAN compatibility has been fixed, you can now use both PPPoE login and VLAN tags at the same time and everything will work. Memory leaks have been fixed, your unit should no longer have to restart because of memory build up. LAN IPs were sometimes not being assigned before, this is fixed now. Many various frontend fixes. Various Stability and Security Fixes There are more new features coming this year that we've been working on as well. Keep your eyes peeled and we'll hopefully share them soon! You can install the firmware via Settings > Troubleshooting > Upload Firmware, and upload the file below: DumaOS-R3-4.0.540.sig We will be pushing this via the One Click Update over the next week or so.

  10. Hey everyone, Welcome to DumaOS 3.2. We’re super excited to finally bring you everything we’ve been working so hard on these past months. The biggest and most obvious change that comes in 3.2 is DumaOS for Mobile. It’s a complete overhaul of DumaOS’ mobile functionality, making it as capable as the desktop version with some cool new features to boot. Please note that DumaOS for Mobile is not yet the same as the DumaOS app. DumaOS for Mobile can be used by accessing DumaOS via a mobile browser. We are currently working on integrating it into the app. We’ve also been working on a whole host of bug fixes and stability improvements, a massive thanks goes out to our beta testers, our early access testers and members of the community for helping us troubleshoot their issues and nail down the causes. For a full breakdown of what’s new, check out the video at the bottom of this post. You can download the firmware from the link below, I've also attached some supporting material for using the new mobile view. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5f3tb7tdpibznh0/DumaOS-R2-3.2.453.sig?dl=0 Please make sure you factory reset your R2 after installing the new firmware. This is a big update so it’s important to start from a clean slate. Change log: Mobile view: New priority boost button - lets you temporarily prioritise any traffic type Mobile view: New Ping Optimiser feature - which finds the best QoS settings for your home Mobile view: Revamped Connection Benchmark to split out into a separate Speedtest and Ping Test Support for Work From Home protocols Added Data History Connection Benchmark upload result no longer affected by Congestion Control Added Hybrid-VPN fixes System-wide websocket improvements Setup process uses both desktop and mobile view to automatically configure more of DumaOS System-wide improvements to CPU and memory usage Ping Heatmap front-end fixes Improved stability of back-end processes Improved clean-up process system-wide on shutdown Improved wireless stability 1974432700_DumaOS_for_mobile_user_guide-DumaOS.pdf

  11. Hi, I'm one of the backend developers. This issue was causing small latency spikes of up to 4ms, caused by high CPU usage of the Data Usage Daemon (part of the Network Activity history feature). It's been fixed and now has 0-1% CPU usage all the time. This is coming to the next firmware, most likely next week. If you're interested in the technical details, the issue was caused by an unneeded system call causing malloc/free for every flow measured. Thank you for buying the Netduma R3 early!

  13. We have a firmware being tested internally currently so shouldn't be much longer now. Here is a rough change log so you can get an idea of what it includes. As you can see it's quite a beefy update, hence why it took longer than the previous ones. Addition of Hybrid VPN Improved SmartBOOST performance Various frontend improvements Fix for memory leak (sometimes manifesting as being unable to access the interface) Potential fix for "frequent disconnects" issue Chromecast and local transfers fixed (this is the WiFi bug where devices can't communicate with each other when they're connected to the same WiFi band e.g. 2.4/2.4GHz) Fix for "No Internet Detected" bug in Setup Wizard IPv6 PPPoE now works with SmartBOOST Ping Optimizer reliability improvements UPnP Improvements Before you ask, no I cannot provide this to you before it's deemed to be stable so please don't ask as you'll get a disappointing answer! When ready we will release it, please don't ask for an ETA!

  14. Today we announced the Netduma R3, powered by DumaOS 4. Welcome to the R3VOLUTION. The Netduma R3 has a mission of delivering solid hardware for 2023 while also launching with DumaOS technology that you’ve never seen before. It arrives with a lot of firsts for a Netduma router, including WiFi 6 and RGB capabilities. DumaOS 4 is a major standout that completely revolutionises how you get the most from your home network. Everything from classic features to the UI has been completely revamped, with several newcomer features that will change your game and THE game. Here’s a breakdown of some highlights from DumaOS 4: Geofilter 2.0, a whole new Geofilter solution that works more effectively for virtually any online game. SmartBOOST is the brand new evolution of QoS,automatically adjusting to give everything the optimal amount of bandwidth at any given moment. Steady Ping heralds the arrival of our long-awaited Anti-Jitter technology (that’s right, it’s finally here). By sacrificing a tiny ping buffer, you ‘lock-in’ a ping that doesn’t fluctuate. Now, every game feels as smooth as the last. And more, all in a completely overhauled UI! This thread acts as both the announcement and discussion thread for the Netduma R3 - ask questions and get as excited as we are! To answer some of the questions we expect to hear for the R3 and DumaOS 4, we’ve put together some ‘Pre-FAQs’: Will DumaOS 4 be coming to the Netduma R2 or NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers (XR500/XR700/XR1000/XR450/XR300)? We fully intend to get DumaOS 4 on the Netduma R2 - we’re expecting this to be a straightforward task so the wait won’t be long. If you own an R2 and would like to be notified when DumaOS 4 is available to you, please enter your email here. However, for Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers, we have some more unfortunate news: as things stand, DumaOS 4 will not be coming to these units. As you can probably tell, it has been a challenge getting these models onto DumaOS 3.3, for reasons outside of our control. We have been able to get the XR500, XR450 and XR700 onto 3.3 via open beta firmwares. And this week we received an XR1000 firmware from NETGEAR (running DumaOS 3.3) which is going through our internal testing now. So as things stand right now, the only way to get your hands on DumaOS 4 currently is to purchase a Netduma R3. How much will the Netduma R3 cost? We always try to provide good value for the hardware we’re responsible for, and because of that the Netduma R3 is landing with a launch discount, pricing it at $199.99 (exc. VAT) / £179.99 / €199.99. This price point won’t last forever, but we want people who support us early on the benefit from doing so. What are the Netduma R3 hardware specs? We worked hard to decide the final spec of the Netduma R3. It has WiFi 6 with really good WiFi coverage across your home (we tested this extensively and it’s a LOT better than the R2), a quad-core CPU and all the RAM and Flash memory we’ll ever need. Our overall aim was to use hardware that was really solid without charging you guys and arm and leg to buy it The full list of the Netduma R3 hardware spec can be found on our site, at the bottom of product page. Check it out! CPU/WiFi Chip used: Broadcom BCM6756 Where can I learn more about DumaOS 4? You can check our website for more about each of the newcomers to DumaOS 4, and stay tuned for our upcoming video series covering each feature in a little more detail. Will DumaOS 4 arrive on Telstra Optimiser and EE WiFi Enhancer? Yes, both platforms will be updated with the latest DumaOS features down the road. Is the R3’s WiFi better than the R2? We paid special attention to ensuring that the R3’s WiFi performs well, to cover all areas as a solid router for any home. The WiFi specifically in the R3 is Dual-Band Gigabit AX3000, providing a far better WiFi experience than the R2 in terms of range and throughput. I have pre-ordered. When will my R3 be sent? We expect routers to arrive in December, and we’ll begin shipping pre-orders as soon as stock arrives on a first-ordered-first-sent basis. What this means is that while we can’t give a specific shipping date to cover every order, we expect that every R3 preorder will be fulfilled before Christmas. Can I buy a Netduma R2 instead of a Netduma R3? The Netduma R2 is now officially out of stock, and we have no plans for renewing the stock. Has the Netduma R3 been beta tested? Yes! A selection of beta testers from the forum have extensively tested the R3 and worked with us to make sure it’s great. A huge special thanks to them for helping us (and keeping things quiet until now!) Does the RGB look cool? Yes, it looks very cool. But if you are no fun at parties, they can also be turned off 😛

  15. Hello, congratulations and thank you to all of the new R2 owners! I'm making this thread because we'd like everybody's honest opinions on the product. The cool thing about the R2 is that it's the same unit that our developers use to develop on, so if you find any bugs or have any issues, we should be able to respond quickly to that feedback in new firmwares. I can report any issues straight to the developers and get an answer very quickly about how feasible an update is. Because DumaOS is developed using Netduma R2's, you should expect cutting edge updates and new features to come to the R2 before other platforms. Keep an eye on this forum for our latest firmwares, because the R2 doesn't currently have an auto-update function for firmwares. However we CAN send out automated updates for the Geo-Filter map, the Ping Heatmap lists, the Device Types, the Traffic Priorization profiles and the Adblocker lists. In future we'll add the ability to update features through the rapp store! Anyway that was a tangent, let us know what you think, and thanks again for supporting Netduma!

  16. Hey everyone, We’ve got a new R2 firmware for you all! You can download from the below link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ctjppykaasmorxp/DumaOS-R2-3.0.394.sig?dl=0 We'd suggest ensuring you factory reset the R2 after making the upgrade as there's a lot of backend changes. We’ve now introduced support for WireGuard in Hybrid VPN. If your VPN provider offers WireGuard configuration files. For instructions on how to set this up, check out this article. http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000127793-how-do-i-use-wireguard-config-files-with-hybrid-vpn- Besides this, this firmware is primarily a maintenance update addressing many of the bugs you guys have reported to us since the last firmware update. Check the below change log to see the full details of these. We totally get that it’s been a while since the last firmware and we’ll be posting an update explaining why, as well as why it’s not going to happen again. There's a LOT more to come, including features, over the next few months so keep an eye out... We’ll post updates on the forum and on our YouTube channel, we just wanted to get a firmware out to you guys first. Full change log: • Added support for Wireguard in Hybrid VPN • Added ability to use specific IPv4/IPv6 DNS in HybridVPN • Fixed issue with DHCP service crashing • Added better backend flash usage monitoring for preventing long-term issues • Added improved configuration system allowing for faster and more stable integration of new features • Fixed issue where Wi-Fi password wouldn’t match label after reset • Multiple security improvements • Fixed ‘Rapps not loading’ issue (Big thanks to @pollutionblues for all his help troubleshooting this) • Fixed Hybrid VPN DNS leak issue • System-wide GUI improvements • Added cloud gaming and Work From Home categorisations for QoS • Added VLAN Support • Added Public IP viewable on Network Status panel - can be toggled on/off • Added Set Home by address on Geo-Filter • Added a Report button to the ping panel - use this to report an abnormal ping, incorrect server type, server required for online play or other (e.g. incorrect location) direct from the Geo-Filter • Added Resync button to Device Manager • Changed Device Manager Table View panel order • Network Monitor Category Breakdown viewable by default

I thought i would start this off with its own thread. I have expanded slightly from my first app, screen shots are below. now you can save and load your allow and deny list. This is very ideal if you have to factory reset. plus sharing of lists is possible. you can clear your allow/deny list with a single click. for those of you who are fed up of seeing your offline devices can with 1 click remove all offline devices that no longer hold an ip address you can also create your own custom black/whitlist just make a text file named with the following Server_Blacklist.txt Server_Whitelist.txt Peer_Blacklist.txt Peer_Whitelist.txt and insert ip addresses, only 1 ip address per line for example from where ever this file is saved just drag and drop into the white box, this will automatically add here is the file caddy 1.0 caddy 1.1 caddy 1.2 @Mobel @GHOST-1-EC @TrayDay @MikeyPython @Sable @WalkedDave @Bert @Locosano @Sherman85 @DanyKTM @Zippy @Grafti @Fuzy @SlingshotGamer@Squizz @HaBlo0

  19. Ten years ago today, we launched Netduma. When you’re in a startup, you spend most of your time looking forward. Rarely, if ever, do you look back. Learn from your mistakes, don’t dwell on them, keep improving. But today, we want to pause for a moment. It has been a decade, after all. The Beginning We launched Netduma from Iain’s parents' kitchen. Our website had just gone live, selling the Netduma R1—our first router. It was no wallflower. Frankly, it looked a bit like a fire alarm, only had 2.4GHz WiFi, but the software Iain had built was unlike anything else out there. We sold out of those first R1s almost instantly. The e-commerce site Iain’s dad had hurriedly put together held up well. Our logistics process? Not so much. That led to many all-nighters as we worked through the order backlog. When you’re a startup, it’s impossible to be good at everything. But to make it, you need to be exceptional at one or two things. We had two. As gamers, we knew firsthand how much lag sucks. And with Iain’s brain, we could actually do something about it. Soon after, we moved into our first office (to the relief of Iain’s parents, whose house had begun to resemble a factory floor). We hired our first full-time employees. Word spread about what our software could do. Bit by bit, month by month, we levelled up. We improved our software. We grew our team. We made mistakes. We learned from them. We kept going. And we repeated that over and over. The very first Netduma office. Looking Ahead Fast forward to today. Our tech stack has evolved from fixing lag in games to fixing all bad Internet - for work calls, video streaming, and everything else. We’re partnered with British Telecom, Telstra, NETGEAR, Nokia, Genexis, and Mercku, with more partnerships to announce next year. Just a few weeks ago, our Service Provider business won the Scale-Up of Network X award. We’ve got a great team, great customers, and great support around us. And we’ve managed to do all this without any investment, putting every penny we made back into R&D to make new features (more on that further down). If you’re reading this, you’ve likely been part of the journey. Whether it was buying one (or all!) of our routers, helping on the forum, or telling us how we could improve - you’ve made a difference. Every piece of feedback, the good and the bad, has helped shape who we are today. None of this would have been possible without the support we’ve had along the way. Thank you. But here’s the exciting part: we’re just getting started. For the past few years, we’ve been working on two groundbreaking features. When we first envisioned them, we weren’t sure they’d even be possible. One fixes bufferbloat once and for all, with no downsides. The other pinpoints the root causes of poor Internet performance, whenever they occur. These features are set to shake up the industry and will be announced early next year. While it’s great to look back on the past ten years, we’re even more excited about what’s ahead. A huge thank you to our elite team in Cambridge, our incredible partners, and everyone who has supported us along the way. Thank you, Luke, Iain, and the entire Netduma Team P.S. If you haven’t yet bought our award-winning Netduma R3 router, which runs the very latest Netduma software, you can use the code ‘10Years’ for 10% off—this week only.

  21. Since the launch of the R3, the feedback has been really great. Of course, there are frequent questions we're seeing, so we've created this topic to cover them. We have a dedicated team of developers who are acting on the feedback provided to make the R3 better and better. Will you implement this/it's missing a feature can it be added? If you have a request for something to be added or changed, please create a topic in this forum: https://forum.netduma.com/forum/9-feature-ideas-improvements-for-dumaos/, and we will add it to our list for potential future inclusion. I'm getting a higher game ping on the R3 compared to 'X' router This will most likely be caused by Steady Ping on the Geo-Filter. Essentially a ping buffer is added to your ping that absorbs any spiking/instability from the game ping that you normally would have felt. The result is a consistent ping throughout the entire game allowing for a smoother experience. You can disable this by clicking Steady Ping at the top of the Geo-Filter map. You can also experiment with the buffer amount. The Geo-Filter isn't working as expected/works differently than the R2/XR etc There are quite a lot of layers to the Geo-Filter and some of the common things you may find are servers not appearing on the map, servers appearing outside your radius, not being able to ping servers, servers not always stabilizing the ping. Most of the time, these issues can be caused by changing Geo-Filter settings while you're already on the game/console. To resolve this: Set up your Geo-Filter before booting up the console/game. If it's still not working reboot the R3, wait 2 minutes then reboot the console and try again. You can also disable Geo-Latency which will allow you to filter exclusively like the original Geo-Filter. We are working on making this more reliable as well, so if you're unable to get consistency rest assured we're working on it. I've limited Congestion Control/applied Ping Optimizer but I'm getting my full speeds We have introduced a new feature called 'Speedtest Bypass.' This allows full speeds on most speed test websites and does not take your settings into account. You can disable this from Ping Optimizer > Advanced as well as change the Congestion Control settings manually, once disabled speedtests will reflect your Congestion Control settings. I can't get any internet! Don't panic! This is a common one, if you're completely new to routers you may not be aware that you need to complete the Setup Wizard for the router before you're able to get internet. This can be done by accessing http://dumaos or http://192.168.77.1 in your web browser while connected to the R3, or alternatively, by using the DumaOS app available in your iOS/Android store. If you have completed the Setup Wizard and still don't have internet reboot your ISP modem/router, wait 2 minutes then reboot your R3 and wait 2 minutes then check to see if you have internet. If you still don't have internet, it is likely that your ISP uses DHCP Identifiers, PPPoE, VLAN, or a combination of these to connect you to the internet. The easiest/quickest way to get setup in this scenario is to connect the R3 to your existing ISP router as this will handle it for you. If you're not able to use the ISP router to handle this you can enter these credentials in Settings > WAN. At this time VLAN is not working, an update with a fix should be available in a few days from the date of this post. I have a moderate/strict NAT Make sure your ISP modem/router is setup so that all traffic is passed straight through to the R3, either using modem/bridge mode or with the R3 WAN IP in its DMZ. Once you've done that reboot the console and check again. If not you may need to use port forwarding to forward ports for the game. In most cases UPnP should open the NAT for you without port forwarding and we'll be working to improve this as well. Ping Optimizer isn't completing a test The servers used for the Ping Optimizer test may be no longer used or busy when you try to use it so please try it again at a later time. We are working on making this more reliable. If it's consistently failing, don't worry; you can manually change the Congestion Control settings in Ping Optimizer > Advanced, which will help prevent lag on your network. We will add to this topic with more questions as we receive them.

  22. This isn’t a support post, this is just a post from a hardcore call of duty ranked player giving my honest review of the router. Because ive been seeing soooo much negativity about this router. Ive been playing ranked play on call of duty modern warfare 3 on pc for about 8 hours a day. I can honestly say the netduma r3 melts my enemies. I’ve tried multiple different routers so I know how each router feels when you’re playing competitively when every millisecond counts! I’ve tried Openwrt, Ubiquiti, Arista, Mikrotik, Pfsense and Asus ROG routers. They all do very good A+ 0ms bufferbloat with QOS. BUT the problem with those routers is the hit detection / lag comp. Where you clearly see the enemy and shoot them first and you die first. It’s like you shoot nerf bullets and they just INSTA DELETE you! I don’t know how netduma does it but this router is manipulating the lag comp / hit detection to give you a advantage. I mean theres still some moments when I’m like how did I lose that gunfight but it’s ALOT less compared to those other routers. The latest firmware still has some bugs that I’m sure is going to be fixed.. but the firmware is more than playable for me Anyone else feels this way or its only me?

  23. Hi Duma Army, and welcome to the first Developer Q&A thread! This your chance to ask the team about the current development and exciting future of DumaOS. Our developers will answer you directly as soon as they can (though this won't be live). Before we begin, lets get the caveats out of the way: - Keep it on topic: If you have technical issues with your router this isn't the place to get support. We'll be redirecting and deleting irrelevant posts to keep this thread on topic. - Keep it civil: Trolling, name-calling or general rudeness will not be tolerated on this thread. Please choose your words carefully and adhere to the forum rules to avoid suspension. - Keep it brief: Our developers are hard at work and their time is precious. They will try to answer every question they can, but they might not be able to answer every one - especially if your question is two pages long! Spam will not be tolerated. DumaOS development is driven by your feedback, so we're super excited to hear from you all. If this goes well we may host more Q&A sessions in the future. Fire away with any questions you have and a developer will answer as soon as possible!

  26. Hey everyone, In case you're not subscribed, we've just announced our new mobile view for DumaOS over on our YouTube channel. This now means that DumaOS is optimised for mobile web browsers, with the welcome addition of some really cool new features. We'll first be releasing this on the R2 in the form of a new firmware, shortly followed by the NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming and Telstra platforms. Here you'll be able to use mobile view from the web browser. The long term plan is then to integrate it into our own App as well as the native Apps of our partners, such as NETGEAR and Telstra. Check the video out here:

It's been almost a year since I joined the marketing team, and I'm proud to be a part of the Netduma army 😁 I have been hard at work ever since, helping with the R3 launch campaigns/activities. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time here and love the amazing people and positive work environment. 28. Hi everyone, The wait is over, we're happy to deliver the latest R3 firmware. It contains months of work from our development team, with a big focus on improving the stability and reliability of our features. Main Changes: Hybrid VPN is here: this is long standing Netduma feature which allows you to run your VPN through your router and then choose which devices or applications the VPN should be applied to. This means you can run your VPN on things that usually hard run a VPN on, such as Smart TVs and consoles. Hybrid VPN is compatible with OpenVPN and WireGuard, so make sure your VPN provider supports one of these protocols. Added UPnP Relay. Previously, if your R3 was connected underneath an ISP router, you'd likely see a Double NAT reported on your games console unless you did some manual port forwarding. UPnP Relay pushes port opening requests from your devices up the chain to your ISP router, meaning you should get an open NAT with no additional configuration needed Some users reported issues with Chromecast or Airplay, or transferring files locally. These are fully fixed now. Many quality of life / annoying bugs fixed, including improved IPv6 and PPPoE support, increasing the reliability of the Geo-Filter ping graph and increasing the reliability of the Ping Optimiser test (with further improvements to come) A longer changelog is below. We want the Netduma R3 to be the best router in the world, and we're taking another step towards that goal with this firmware. We'll continue working on and releasing updates, so please give us any feedback you have. INSTALL GUIDE You can install the firmware using one-click update. Simply open up DumaOS and look for the green "Update Available" icon. Alternatively, you can download the file below, then go to Settings > Troubleshooting > Upload Firmware, then upload the file. DumaOS-R3-4.0.219.sig NOTE: You need to login to the forum before you can download this file. If you don't want to make an account, use one-click update as described above. Changelog: Hybrid-VPN added Improved performance of SmartBOOST Improved performance of Steady Ping Improved performance of Geo-Filter Ping graph appears more frequently Ping Optimiser reliability improvements Chromecast/AirPlay compatibility fixed UPnP relay added (no more double NAT) Increased maximum speeds Improved compatibility with IPv6 and PPPoE Optimisations to improve memory usage Many other smaller bug fixes

  30. Hello everyone, when will this famous update this beta version ? I've been here since the first hour r1 xr500 and now r3 except that I just bought a new router in beta version at over 223euros that annoys me. Upnp works 1/5, no hybrid VPN, the maximum speeds are pitiful and irregular, an increase or even a fluctuation in ping which is the complete opposite of buying a gaming router, a processor core which goes up to 100% without any activities or reason and one that remains at 0%!! In short, netduma, what are you planning to do? The router is more than 1 month old and the features and performance that made us buy this router are not present or functional. We're talking about the features that are in the product description!!! What are the solutions ?!

  31. I believe it is the CPU issue you're experiencing, the firmware is due this week and not only will the CPU usage be drastically reduced, the higher ping/jitter caused by it should be resolved as well. As lot of fixes/improvements in this one I believe.

  32. Nothing changes with that. Think of the R2 as an addition to the DumaOS lineup. We’ll keep adding more and more testers to the R1 beta, and we’re working with Netgear to do the same with theirs. Biggest difference with the R2 is it’s all ours from the bottom up. This means we can get new firmwares to the R2 in the shortest time possible.

  34. Hey XR500 users! To coincide with the XR700’s Early Access release of DumaOS 3.3, we’re happy to announce that the 3.3.535 firmware for the XR500 has entered Open Beta stage. This build is expected to go through NETGEAR’s QA process and eventually become an official release for the XR500, but in the meantime you’re free to use this as a beta firmware. 3.3.535 adds support for the new DumaOS For Mobile - a flexible view that works in virtually any viewport, with massively improved response times and speed. This is best experienced via the DumaOS app which, as of this firmware, fully integrates the webview format for any platform that supports it. --- NOTE: This step must be completed first prior to upgrading to the latest firmware. However, due to an firmware size limit with stock firmware, there is an important one-off step you need to take before moving over to the latest firmware. Please download the below intermediary firmware, and upgrade your XR500 to it first: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hpeb2w2m4mvmv3q/INTERMEDIARY_FIRMWARE.img?dl=0 It’s important that you DON’T keep your XR500 on this intermediary firmware - there are known issues with it. In case you're not sure how to get to the upgrade screen, this video from YourSixStudios does a good job explaining: Once that’s done, you can go ahead and install the latest firmware which can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n5nk0fxkhzosvp2/XR500-V2.3.2.134-dumaos33-rc14.img?dl=0 This firmware also contains multiple fixes and improvements to DumaOS and we’re confident in it as a candidate for NETGEAR to release fully for the XR500. All of us here hope you enjoy using it. If you are having trouble upgrading/get incorrect firmware file when upgrading to the firmware from the intermediary firmware: Upgrade to this version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mb7hztmwpxnpz2i/XR500-V2.3.2.134-dumaos33-rc10.img?dl=0 then upgrade to the latest.

  36. Hi all, I just wanted to post to say I got the Netduma R3 last week and I was still struggling with the hit registration of shots in MWIII as of yesterday. I saw a post today by @Spritekid242and since I've changed settings a bit it's a night and day difference so big thanks to him. I've never used a Netduma router so I am no expert but this seems to work for me. My current setup Geo filter simple instead of custom. For whatever reason the geofenced points didn't seem to work as well for me. I play on Xbox so I added that in as a device Steady ping on simple mode Geo assist on Ping assist off Strict mode on Fast search off Smart boost Gaming top priority and device Xbox top priority also This is the part that I believe made the biggest difference as suggested on the post by Spritekid242. I'm not sure if it is the bandwidth reservation or the congestion control but these are the two settings I changed today. Bandwidth reservation on smart boost set to max 20mbps upload and download for all ports TCP / UDP for Xbox only This part will be depend on your connection, I recommend to manually set these as when it found the down / up manually it was at like 98% down and 99% and wasn't stable on a bufferbloat test To find the manual numbers I just Set congestion control mode to always on and deselected speed test bypass. Then adjust the sliders down around 5% at a time until you get 0ms on download active and upload active latency on the waveform.com bufferbloat test. I was actively watching these to see if they actually raised above 0ms on the test. One thing I noticed is that I would still get an A+ on the waveform bufferbloat test even if it fluctuated and went back to 0ms. I think it's better for it to never go above 0ms. You will also see the max latency ms figures go lower as you bring the percentage down. You will get to a point where is stays at 0ms and the max latency won't get any lower. I did download first. Then I moved on to upload and I settled at 70% down 75% up and turned the speed test bypass back on and set it back to auto from always on. Ad blocker on although shouldn't make a difference DumaOS 4.0.23 Im hoping the automatic congestion control figures will improve in a later firmware so there isn't as much trial and error but all in all the router is a huge improvement from my ISP provided router so far, definitely. Hopefully someone from Netduma can chime in on the Bandwidth reservation, maybe it could be laid out a bit easier for new users to activate if it is in fact a game changer.

  40. @BadLuckTom I would rather say from the customer's point of view it would be better if Netduma didn't try to fix so many problems once per update, but simply released versions at regular intervals, with which perhaps only one or two problems are fixed. In the end, it still takes months to fix all the problems, but not all customers have all the problems. I think such an approach would ensure a lot more peace and quiet here in the forum.

    Bye bye R3

Some extremely ungrateful members in this forum. the R3 does its job. https://clips.twitch.tv/CuteSpoopyEagleChocolateRain-Dnxo_nIk8rb5QW5p Have patience!!! Why would you want a rushed firmware thats not ready? You guys are complaining, you think rushing them is going to make your gaming experience better? Yes it has a couple hiccups but all pc components / consoles and software do too, why they are always updating firmware, software, and drivers... have patience

  42. I did post this in a reply about a week ago in a topic: Here is a rough change log so you can get an idea of what it includes. 2.4/2.4GHz) Fix for "No Internet Detected" bug in Setup Wizard IPv6 PPPoE now works with SmartBOOST Ping Optimizer reliability improvements UPnP Improvements

Excited to say that we are making plans to bring more content (in my case, focusing mainly on video content) to our social media platforms. This includes YouTube, Twitter, Instagram etc. Anyway, the point of this post is simply to say hello, and to let you guys know that the first of many new videos was released on YouTube yesterday. It's an R2 unboxing & setup guide. If you would like to have a watch, here it is!
