NEW XR1000/XR1000v2 Beta Firmware: DumaOS 3.3.688 Access Request
Vincenzo and 6 others reacted to Netduma Justas for a topic
Hello to all XR1000 and XR1000v2 users! We're finally ready with a new DumaOS update for XR1000 and XR1000v2. This update introduces updates and fixes for our DPI cloud synchronisation. Users will now receive our latest DPI database versions as soon as they're released. This means support for new games in Geo-Filter, Traffic Prio and Traffic Controller. You'll see new titles like Marvel Rivals are supported in Geo-Filter, and new titles like Path of Exile 2 are supported in Traffic Prioritisation. We've also fixed the issue from the previous version where there were no default lists in Adblocker. Now you can begin blocking ads straight away with the click of a button, and the lists will update automatically over time. There are also some backend fixes, including security improvements. This firmware was created to fix any lingering bugs with the feature set of the XR1000, and deliver on all of the features promised when the XR1000 was sold. However it does not introduce any of the exciting new features from DumaOS 4, such as SmartBOOST and Geo-Filter 2.0. For the time being, these features are exclusive to the Netduma R3 gaming router, and we can make no promise that they'll make their way to the XR1000. That said, XR1000 users will continue to receive updates for compatibility with the latest games via Netduma's DPI cloud, and security updates will be provided by Netgear. To request beta access, please reply to this post.7 points -

THIS ARE JUST SETTINGS OUTSIDE OF THEIR GAME CONFIGS. THIS IS MORE TOWARDS THE R3 AND YOUR PC BACKGROUND PROCESES! you will still need to adjust your ingame settings according to your own specs. ect ect ect. this are the ADSOLUTE BEST settings for your bullets to kill as FAST as possible! 1. heres a pic of my fiber without the R3 2. Heres a pic of my speed with the R3 and all the settings i dissable inside the R3 to eliminte latency inside my router. turn these settings off at your own risk. i did and havent usse it in a month w out any issues. 3. run some bufferbloat test until you find your sweat spot 4. nornal speed test web is down for me idk y, but you need to lower your jitter as much as you can even when you do a simple speed test. 5. look at your task manager and if you have more proceses than what I have, It might be the reason why your jitter is always HIGH! or your game feels laggy and dogpoopy. 6. if you need help lowering your proceses without damaging your pc. check this link. it will take you to this guy who is a profesional. he worked with people like clix, bugha, and more pros. watch the video and follow the instructions. MAKE SURE you create a restore point right before your start or do anything. the only thing im experiencing is once i did mine. i cant no longer play music audio without having to RE-install my media player again. i dont mind that. so i dont care. i use my other pc for that. i can still do everything tho, everything works normal. this is the channel. 7. this is my congestion control settings 8. my games feels amazing no more shoot first and die first. anything outside of my control like servers lag lol well yall know how that goes.4 points

NEW R3 FIRMWARE - DumaOS 4.0.540
MarkonikovBR and 2 others reacted to Netduma Alex for a topic
Hi Everyone, We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get a new update with new features and stability fixes out to you. Important Note: You may see "Critical Error: Failed to load minimum required components" after upgrade. Please ignore this message and refresh the page by pressing CTRL+F5. This will reload the page wihout cache. Changelog: Behavioural Identification is a new feature which identifies traffic based on the way it behaves. This allows us to categorise and prioritise traffic which hasn't yet been added to our DPI database, ensuring day one support for new games. It can also assume and categorise encrypted traffic based on the way that it behaves, which means that, for the first time ever, we can prioritise Gaming, Streaming and Video Calls even while you're using a VPN! New Themes have been added to DumaOS, you can now pick from Traditional Red, Gamer Green, Baby Blue or Cherry Pink WPS Support has been added. Press the WPS button on the back of your R3 to start pairing mode for 2 minutes. Translations have been added to the UI, you can now set your DumaOS to Chinese, Dutch, Spanish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish and German. If there are any incorrect translations, you can report them in the change language page. LAN Disconnections have been fixed, you shouldn’t be getting random drop-outs for wired devices anymore. Ping Optimiser has been overhauled and should be quicker and more stable than before. WiFi Auto Channel Selection has been improved, you'll get better speeds over WiFi. PPPoE VLAN compatibility has been fixed, you can now use both PPPoE login and VLAN tags at the same time and everything will work. Memory leaks have been fixed, your unit should no longer have to restart because of memory build up. LAN IPs were sometimes not being assigned before, this is fixed now. Many various frontend fixes. Various Stability and Security Fixes There are more new features coming this year that we've been working on as well. Keep your eyes peeled and we'll hopefully share them soon! You can install the firmware via Settings > Troubleshooting > Upload Firmware, and upload the file below: DumaOS-R3-4.0.540.sig We will be pushing this via the One Click Update over the next week or so.3 points -

To be honest, the NetDuma community isn’t really a typical customer base. We’re more like passionate enthusiasts with a mild addiction. We complain, we debate, we push for more… and yet we’re still here. That says something. We appreciate that updates for the R3 are in progress, and it’s good to hear they’re substantial. But there’s another thought that many people here share — some openly, others quietly refreshing the forum every day. We’re not just waiting for firmware. We’re waiting for the next level of hardware. If a more powerful next-gen router — call it an R4 or whatever it ends up being — were announced tomorrow, I genuinely believe a huge portion of this community would upgrade instantly. Not because of marketing pressure. Not because we’re being manipulated. But because we believe in the idea behind NetDuma, and we want to see it running on hardware that truly matches its ambition. Sometimes the frustration you see here isn’t negativity — it’s anticipation. People don’t get loud about products they don’t care about. The reason discussions get heated is because expectations are high. Give us DumaOS running on seriously powerful hardware, with proper headroom for the future, and that wouldn’t just be another release. It would be a statement. We’re not angry customers. We’re impatient supporters. And that’s a good problem to have.3 points -

Damn Fraser what in tarnations are they doing over there? Is their staff of one highschool student intern done with this firmware yet? How does this take years for updates? Any tech support you offer must have a 97 percent fail rate due to the awnser inevitably being " sorry our software sucks". What can possible take so amazingly long? Obviously you have nothing to do with it. And this entire thread is useless. Try to make us understand so we may actually ever buy another product from your Momo bosses. Perhaps send someone over to Nvidia and figure out how they have 9999999999npriducts yet still manage new driver updates every other month. What do you think the problem is Frasier you know more than us3 points

Hey Netduma fellows, Hope you’re all having a great day! I wanted to share the best settings I’ve found for improving my online gaming experience. Now, I’m not sure if the Netduma team will be happy about this because, honestly, none of these settings are related to the Netduma router. I’ve been using Netduma routers for over five years, starting with the R1 model. Sometimes, they performed great; other times, not so much. Over time, I began to question whether using QoS alone was the best approach—until I was introduced to SQM (Smart Queue Management). Some of you might already be familiar with SQM, CAKE, and FQ_CoDel, but let me tell you—SQM is an absolute game-changer when running on high-performance router hardware with OpenWRT. My Solution for Consistent Performance The key to getting good, consistent results (which has helped me maintain a 3+ K/D ratio in every FPS game) was: 1. Using a high-performance router that supports OpenWRT 2. Enabling CAKE as the QoS algorithm Since CAKE requires significant CPU power, I chose the Flint 2 router, which can efficiently shape over 500 Mbps of traffic while running CAKE. The Best Part? Set It and Forget It The only tuning required is adjusting overhead and MPU (Minimum Packet Unit) settings. Other than that, once set up, it just works. That’s all I wanted to share. Hope this helps someone out there struggling with network consistency!3 points

I installed OpenWRT and SQM after hours of figuring it out and battling with myself. I finally managed to get everything set up. They even suggested I do a bufferbloat test. "See screenshot," and after several tests on my favorite video game, COD, the result is amazing. I didn't know he had created such a well-thought-out geofilter.3 points

11 years and counting ! my thoughts on the Netduma product
Moofda and one other reacted to BL4CK OPS V3TRN for a topic
Can't believe it's been 11 years since I joined the forum , during that time I have had the R1 / R2 XR500 with R2 OS and now the R3. Today my R3 is plugged into my Asus RT-AX88U Pro , Just a little bit on the Asus : Rock solid piece of kit with great WIFI coverage and a good amount of gaming tweaks within the OS including various different types of QOS , on average we have around 22 wired and wireless devices connected to the Asus no issues ever . Only the Xbox is a wired connection to the R3 , I have flip flopped from both routers over the last few months and always go back to the R3 from a connection perspective it just feels much better , for me it is best in class it does what it is supposed to do from a gaming / connection perspective . HOWEVER - I had some time over the Xmas break off work and decided to plug the R3 directly into my ONT , so all devices connected to the R3 as it is designed to do , BTW just to say I think the OS on the R3 is excellent from a visual perspective and provides so much information and options to fine tune , much better than the Asus in my opinion , the following is what I experienced over a full week : Daily drops in WIFI or internet connection longest period of connection 1.5 days before I re boot WIFI would not reach as far as my Asus , ring door bell and Hive would not function correctly Family complaints Gaming was even better Where I am going with this ? Is this a hardware or software problem ? , I have tried to live solely on the Netduma router previously but it never delivers on a stable connection as my default network router when everything is connected to it . If it is hardware issue hen I for one would be willing to pay more to have an Asus type performance with the Netduma OS . I know we have had the Netgear experiment but not sure that is still an option mine died a long time ago . In closing I love the Netduma OS , it is back now plugged into my Asus and in my opinion gives me the best gaming connection on the market without doubt . It is just not capable of being a default network router managing all devices . You could I suppose without being dis respectful call it a one trick pony ..... but hey it's one hell of a trick . .2 points -

Jitter
DARKNESS and one other reacted to Netduma Fraser for a topic
Yes playing on a further away server is likely to worsen your jitter. No, the Geo-Filter and your bufferbloat test are not connected. The Geo-Filter shows game servers you connect to, it is highly unlikely to show the bufferbloat server you're using. The bufferbloat server could be anywhere, that's the point, doing the test at different times of the day could have you connecting to different servers and therefore getting different results. This is why I as well as Darkness said not to put too much emphasis on its results. Yes it is testing your network utilizing a server for the test. Here is an analogy for you. Your ping without bufferbloat is like driving your car on an empty road, you're going to a location and you know how long it will take you to get there, for example 20 minutes. This could be your baseline ping for example 20ms. Your ping with bufferbloat is like driving your car on a road with traffic, you're going to the same location and you know how long it should take you to get there (e.g. the 20 minutes), however due to the bad traffic it actually takes you 40 minutes to get to the same destination. Your ping here could be 40ms for example. In regards to the server the bufferbloat test is using, without a destination to test it against you can't get a ping value or a destination to drive to. Now imagine your place of work changed depending on the time of day and the time you start work changes as well therefore it could take you anywhere from 10 minutes to 1hr to get there. Would you be so confident to say that it takes you 10 minutes to commute to work everyday? Without knowing the server the bufferbloat test is using your results cannot be 100% trusted. That's why the pingplotter suggestion is better, you know the exact server you're using, you do a test to establish your baseline ping (ping without bufferbloat) and then apply traffic and your ping raises, just like road traffic extends your journey time and then you apply Congestion Control to limit the effect that traffic has on your ping. There really isn't anything else we can advise honestly: You've established it's an issue without the R3 - that automatically eliminates us personally from needing to troubleshoot with you We've advised you select the closest possible servers, this will help lower the ping and improve stability (jitter) We've advised you on how to effectively test and set your Congestion Control percentages to lower your ping and improve stability when bufferbloat would ordinarily apply2 points -

@Paul_81 Cheating is rampant across all platforms—no game is safe. Developers are doing their best to fight back, but cheaters constantly find new ways around anti-cheat systems. One rising method is using SD cards or USB devices to bypass protections—especially on consoles. So let’s be clear: the idea that consoles are “safe” is a myth. Cheaters have already figured out how to slip past detection. Even worse, retailers are openly selling cheat devices on store shelves. These scripting tools might not modify game code, but that doesn’t make them any less of a cheat. They spoof inputs to create inhuman precision and speed, giving players an unfair edge. Just because it’s hardware-based doesn’t make it legitimate—it’s still cheating. I’m not naming specific devices here because they don’t need any more attention. But if you know, you know. The only people who don’t regularly run into cheaters are casual players. If you’re playing at high ranks, it’s a different story. As someone who’s reached Master rank eight times in Apex Legends, I see it every day—DMA cheaters tracking through walls like it's nothing, blatantly obvious. It’s not a “get better” issue—it’s a broken system. And don’t get me started on the input scripters. Some of them even brag about it. They’re not hiding—they’re proud. You can spot them by their tags. Sure, some try to fly under the radar, but it’s obvious if you know what to look for. One group I’ve run into over and over uses the tag “TTOK.” From what I’ve seen, they’re part of a coordinated network. They try to blend in, but their behavior gives them away every time. I know this sounds like a rant, but honestly—it’s infuriating how bad the cheating situation has gotten2 points -
Worth upgrading to a R3 from a XR1000?
DOGGAVELI and one other reacted to Netduma Fraser for a topic
In terms of software yes it would be a definite upgrade, the XR1000 won't get DumaOS 4 and we've got some good features coming. Realistically though, you're getting a great ping when gaming, if you're wanting to upgrade to reduce that ping even further, even with DumaOS 4 that's going to be quite hard to do. There will be a limit of what the minimum ping you're capable of getting to the servers is and you're probably not far off. Given you're also just playing one game mainly there isn't much variation you need to do.2 points -
Hi @Netduma Fraser & @Krush, thanks a lot for the quick feedback! Good to hear that this is a known topic and that improvements are being worked on regarding PPPoE performance on the R3. I’m definitely looking forward to future firmware updates in this regard. I’ll test this setup and monitor both speed and latency. If there are any beta updates or settings that could improve PPPoE handling on the R3 directly, I’d be happy to try them and provide feedback! Thanks again – I appreciate the support!2 points
