This is the announcement thread. Keep it on topic.
If you want to discuss technical things, games, problems or anything else then put it in the correct section of the forum.

I have removed the off-topic posts.

Be aware that punctuating a post with  ;) does not make an unacceptable post more acceptable.

lol It has been a "few" decades since I was in school, but I think I remember the teacher telling me that punctuation is everything.

Obviously there are a lot of disappointed people on this forum regarding the delay of DumaOS.  I was disappointed to, but I understand and support the reasons why.

I think we have to bear in mind that this update is very important.  A roll back is required for good reasons.  The main one giving people the opportunity to revert back to the older version, but also in case the new DumaOS has a problem.

Let me explain, if DumaOS had been released and we downloaded it and there was a problem, it could have caused a lot of issues for everyone possibly bricking the R1s and leaving us with just our routers.

It is frustrating for us, but I believe this is all for the best.  We will get the update eventually and all the wonderful things to come with it.  I am looking forward to it and checking back daily for the news as I am sure most of us are.  Lets be positive rather than negative, these guys are working hard to get it out.  We're going to get a great update that will make a massive difference to our gaming, it's got to be worth the wait.

So nice to see the forum mods so active in this thread when it comes to censoring peoples post that have less than a kind word about this topic.

Not only that , Im happy that the reasons why have been explained as well. Too bad the topic at hand hasn't been handled as such.

Happy to be of service buddy.

I'm hardly censoring the thread though, look at all the **** and nonsense that hasn't been removed.

I know the same as you about the delay / progress, what it says at the beginning of this thread.

500 or so disgruntled replies in. I get one removed for suggesting that Netduma should address this group of CUSTOMERS by posting something here. I did not swear, I wasn't rude to another member, I barely even got sarcastic. At some point Colonic, aren't you getting frustrated that as an volunteer you're left to try and keep this civil? With no help from Netduma, when all it takes is a 2min message that could be written from a cell phone while sitting on a potty? (Like this message was)

I can't remember what they all said, I removed several, I removed one that I didn't mean to remove too (we all make mistakes) so apologies if that was yours. At least you didn't get banned.

I find everything frustrating.

How about this boys, most of you know the situation that us mods are in. Which is trying to keep things civil and still answer questions about the issue at hand. And most of you also know that we don't know anymore than you guys do about the release. None of us are employed by Netduma, we try to help out on the forum, don't get paid for it, just really liked the R1 when it first came out and helped people who were having issues with the set up in their home networks.

I don't think any of us in their position with the opportunity to partner with Netgear would have done anything different than they did. It is a business at the end of the day, and anyone in business knows that you do what is best for the business and growth of the product you market. Believe it or not we didn't know anything about the Netgear deal, until it was announced. Again we aren't on the inside of their business dealings, meetings etc, were just  owners and paying customers like everyone else on here.

I myself am disappointed that the update for the R1 isn't out yet. As I've said all along I am a OG Duma fan as it has some things that the XR 500 does not. Yes I have both but my preference is still the R1 as the features that I'm really interested in are gone be on it, anti spike and anti jitter to be specific.

Again as much as we would like to "make them" tell us something, we can't. We're in the same boat as everyone else patiently or impatiently waiting for any word on the status or the actual release of the new OS. Until then we're just trying to keep the peace, which as you guys are well aware of is not an easy task at this point.

frustrated I just got a new NETDUMA, and I can't connect, how do I get the password for the Wi-Fi

:P

Even though what your saying is true, personally speaking , I'm hearing the same excuse as too why the update hasn't come to fruition. In fact most of these excuses have come from no one that actually employed by Netduma.

At this point, I dont want to hear about how great it is that Netduma teamed up with Netgear. I dont own an XR500 and I'm never going to own one.

So good for Netduma and Netgear, but I couldn't care less. The previous delays occurred before the integration, didn't it ?

Lets face it, Netduma has not been accurate about statements concerning delivery time for DumsOS, so it seems like they are lying now.

How can you believe anything that comes from them at this point.

I'm annoyed that the CEO hasn't followed up with an explanation as why we haven't seen the update. Its been more than a few weeks now.

He owes everyone here that. It cant make matters worse than they are. IMO they ruined any credibility they had. If anything , it may save what little credibility that can get from me.

It might be pointless to complain about it , I wont sit silently by either and allow this to occur without conveying my feelings redundantly.

I'm not annoyed with the development time. I'm annoyed that we are given a deadline by NetDuma and it's consistently missed by large amounts of time. Either the accuracy of estimation needs to be adjusted or just not say anything and surprise your customers.

"a few weeks" has come and gone, and "a few weeks" more since then. When is the actual deadline?

I asked on Facebook about it and just got that generic nutting saying at all answer:

"Hi Christoph - our development team is working very hard to get DumaOS ready as soon as possible. It is a mammoth amount of work, more so than we anticipated. We are working on making DumaOS available to you all as soon as we can so we can then start making lots of new features for you guys."

Looks like 2 more years are ahead. If anyone interested this was my answer to them:

"
Yeah I know and I believe you but you saying this now since a long time (over 1 year). And it was given the 17th of April as a final release date. Then you delayed again and said just a few weeks. You have no excuses here anymore. Just get it done 4 fook sake."

Yeah, in the end, this sound for me not like "just a few weeks more" it sounds more like its ready when its ready but we don't have the slightest clue when this will be.

Update: Ian himself chimed in. If anyone is interested this is his answer:

"The R1 has been updated many times with many ground breaking features including ping assist, peer ping, profiles and so on. We're working on releasing DumaOS asap and a mammoth amount of work is required, more so than we anticipated.

DumaOS did not exist when you bought the R1. We are offering radically new software to our R1 buyers free of charge. Years of man-hours have gone into developing this new software as well as overcoming the technical difficulties of porting it to older hardware.

So please be assured that we are working on making DumaOS available to you all as soon as we can.

Many thanks

Iain (founder and CTO)"

I won't share my answer to this here in the forum but if you want to know it just have a look at their Facebook page.

For someone that has nothing more to say on the subject, you post on this thread an awful lot.

So almost the same amount of time we've been waiting for DumaOS.

I know you were trying to make a joke, but we've been waiting since 2016.
