i im so exited

and i just cant hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it :)

One comment i will make that looks as though it will be a problem for a minority (such as myself) is the device bandwidth allocation spider graph. With increasing devices on your home network, when you have around 30 (like me) you can only set device bandwidth to 3 or 4% before it affects the other devices on the slider, making it very difficult to control QOS device priority.

Being a front-end designer and also involved in UX, my suggestion would be to allow a toggle to go to an old school device priority list to easily order devices by drag and drop. I realise it might not be feasible off the bat to cater for minorities in the initial releases, but would be greatly appreciated if it were included in post release updates.

feel free to add it to what i would imagine to be an already long list of user feature requests. ;-)

Great suggestion, we were thinking of allowing multiple horizontal sliders. I think they're called multi-sliders lol. What you think?

Okay Iain you can stop with all this information, you have feeling like a kid in a candy store with no money! Lol

haha , glad to hear it

Good suggestion Rilla, stick it on the suggestions thread if you haven't already

Duly noted mate

Wooo! Woooo! Come on ride the train!!

Yeah!

+1

I always have a house full and lots of devices that keep getting added.  I try to keep it cleaned up but I typically have about 50 to 100 devices listed on the network.   After several parties and guests during the holidays, I had about 350 devices showing in device manager.  It would be awesome if I could manually assign them categories and then apply priority to the categories.

For example, I would create groups such as Gaming [PS4, PS3], Security [home security devices], Terry's (me) [laptops, phone, tablet], House [devices for my kids] and Guests/Others [everything else including misc devices such as thermostat].  I would then be able to get higher priorities and bandwidths for each of the categories.

See my quote in previous post mate. Don't worry about RAM/Flash being an issue on your device. We currently use about 22MB out of 128MB due to our unique fast compression algorithms :)

Smashing! That's a tonne more than I anticipated, particularly considering the tiny size of R-Apps.

As far as the Congestion Control goes, I have close to 100 wired / wireless devices in the home to cater for a gaming family of 6, so the spider / flower chart has long since been rendered useless to me. I simply set it to Share Excess, then prioritise the current console of choice (the one I'm using ;) ) via Hyper-lane and let the R1 do its thing.

I'm not sure if it's relevant anymore, but Network Monitor tops out at 25 colours, so the data becomes pretty useless when 3/4ths of all devices are rendered white. There's so much to look forward to in Duma OS that these are minor quibbles at best.

Aside from anti-jitter and anti-spike, the only new feature I'd really (really, really, REALLY) like to see is colour-coded map markers on the Geo-filter to make it easier to manage laggy players. As it currently is, it's easy to identify that player via the Peer Ping graph, but no way to correlate it to a map marker. For example, the pink peer is pinging at 1000ms, so click the pink map marker to filter that player.

They've been telling us they would look into it for a year. I stopped playing pvp games because of my issues. I only stick to dedicated server games like battlefield 1 for now.

Iain a while ago you said that anti-jitter and anti-spike will not launch with DumaOS but will come a bit later, is that still the case and if so is there a rough estimate on when to expect these two features?

When was this said?

When was this said?

the last time Iain made a Q&A and the delay to feburary followed up by march was given out

it was either in this topic or the now locked DumaOS - Development Update Topic

might have been a month or two maybe, Iain hasnt posted much since then so its probably within his last 20 posts in this forum if you want to look it up

since then a lot of time has passed and maybe anti-jitter and anti-spike will now be aboard the DumaOS, hence my question :)

all i want to know is if i would be able to get all my speed with the dumaos... say my speed is 350 up and 350 down .. will i get all my speed or will it restrict it and only get 92 up and 60 down .. please answer?

Do you currently own a Duma? If so have you had a look at this thread on how to get your full speeds?

http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022366-why-is-my-connection-speed-lower-If

after that you are still having issues please start a thread in the support section of the forum. Thank you.

OK could you please start a thread in the Support section detailing the problem and what you have tried to resolve it so far. How you have your hardware connected and how your cc sliders etc are set.

Please also include the speeds that you expect to get. Not what you pay for. For example My BT package is sold as 50 up and down but my line is only capable of 30 down and 10 up. I actually get 29 down and 7 up on a good day. This is what I expect to get.

Thank you.

Sorry man this makes no sense. YOU (WE) should be getting the speeds what we pay for, not what we expect.  If not you need to file a complaint with your ISP ASAP.  SPeedtest.com usually inflates your speed especially if your IPS offers speed boost on your line.  For example, I pay for 50/5, I get 65/8 on speedtest with no congestion control active and inflated speeds entered in the GUI.  If I enter my correct speeds 50/5, I get ~45/4 which is perfect and accurate.  Anyway hopefully he starts his own thread and he can get this resolved.

In the UK we get expected speeds due to distance from cabinet or exchange depending on which type of broadband we have ADSL/Fibre.

yes i do own a net duma..i put the settings in reactive , done rest distribution and get 90 up , 60 down. but never 100/100 .

Please make a support topic about this, though you should get your full speeds:

  • Reactive Algorithm
  • 100% anti-flood
  • Share excess enabled
  • Reset device prioritisation & apply
  • Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc
  • Disable deep packet in misc
  • Enable turbo mode
  • Enable super turbo mode
  • Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
  • Do a wired speed test from a PC

So are we allowed to know or is there already a list compiled of what this New Duma OS is suppose to try and achieve?

If it's not in the announcement thread then it hasn't been announced.

Well we know one thing for sure is they want the OS to be much faster, to be able to add and remove applications within the router. To generally improve upon already existing features and add some like antispike and antijitter. It's basically taking the router we have and bumping it up to the next level.
