I'm in the UK and have recently switched to BT. I have had two engineers visit my house in the last couple of weeks due to an ongoing issue with download speeds decreasing significantly during the evening hours (approx 6pm - 11pm), and they haven't found any errors on the line. I have another engineer coming tomorrow to further investigate this fault so I will ask about IPv6.

The only thing I know for sure is that even though IPv6 appears to be currently enabled on both BT router and R2, the Xbox is using IPv4...so I can only presume that my line doesn't actually have IPv6, even though a statement online from BT suggests that all lines in the UK now use IPv6. I will get confirmation either way tomorrow.

What kind of issues would having IPv6 enabled on my equipment without having IPv6 enabled on my line cause?

as soon as i connect my xbox to my spectrum router with out doing anything my xbox says its connected ipv6 and ipv6

when i connect my xbox to my fios it only says connected ipv4

it sounds like everyone in your area is getting on at a peek time causing your slow downs. if thats the case your kinda screwed. i have the same problem with spectrum why i got fios just for my gaming, its a dedicated service just for me unlike spectrum which is a shared service. more people on at the same time the slower the connection

if ipv6 is on and the service provider does not support ipv6 you will have horrible latency issues because the ipv6 is always going to try to connect when there is nothing there for it to connect to so its just going to go in a endless loop. you dont want it doing anything extra while your trying to play

just a little bit of googling i found this, if i was you i would fully disable ipv6

No, thank god! you know the crazy part about that bug is its only on console, if you use a pc and xbox party chat it works fine. i told the duma staff over a year ago they need to find the range for party chat and open all address in there cloud settings. eventually its going to happen to all there routers, Xbox and PS trying to crack down on routers with geo filters

Yeah it sucks...the FTTC broadband infrastructure in the UK is generally poor. I have been told in my area that we are still using ADSL copper cable, and there is a section near the local cabinet which is aluminium (both are not fit for purpose for high speed fibre broadband apparently). In addition, the engineer stated that due to local residents in the area having different levels of broadband speeds (ie ADSL, Fibre1 or Fibre2) all going down the same lines, these different speeds operate on different frequencies and that causes a lot of chatter between the lines...alternatively it could be interference from some equipment in another household anywhere between the cabinet and my house. Either way, I'm escalating this complaint and will leave them if not resolved as I'm now paying more for the same crap broadband and issues than I did before so I may as well move back and pay less for the same crap.

I've just had to take the R2 out of the equation for now as it appears to had another brain fart, and devices won't connect to the internet despite the WAN IP and DMZ not changing, and my ISP router still online. I've now connected all my devices to the ISP router, and had to remove the static IP from the Xbox to get online. I'm going to test using the ISP router for a couple of days to see if it rules out the R2 from the party chat issue.

Also, despite the BT technical support being completely clueless...I can now confirm that my line and router does support IPv6 as my console and MacBook are now listed as IPv6 in device list on ISP router, and my Xbox now shows as connected via "IPv4 & IPv6"...I don't quite understand why it says connected via both but it does. It will be interesting to test performance playing Warzone without the R2 in the mix later this evening.

@Kfetish The time you're referring to, when everything was working great - was that just before the integration of Cold War in Warzone (prior to the launch of "Season 1" I suppose)? Basically, does it seem like everything changed after Cold War integration? Because I can say for certain that something is different for me now, almost back to the pre-Duma feeling of getting insta-melted, shots not registering as well, I shoot first / die first, etc. It is becoming very frustrating, even more so after the state of bliss that I was in just before the end of last season, gameplay was so crisp, people were dying as they should be, getting tons of kills and wins. I'm kind of at a loss and tired of tweaking settings to see if I may be able to get it back to where it was.

For me everything went to crap after the last game update. Not the one we just got today or yesterday but some previous update completely ruined my experience and I hadn’t changed a single setting. I’m spending more time tweaking to get it playable, then I am playing the actual game. Sucks.

BT are crap my dude. I've been on BT Infinity for 3 years and and for 2.5 of them years I've been on interleaving. Had several engineers come out in that time and all agree theres a problem but can't find anything wrong.

Yep, but the problem is that all other ISPs all hire and use BT equipment, and all send out BT Openreach engineers (or subcontractors) for any broadband issues...so basically you’re with BT whether you like it or not. As an example, I will be free to leave my contract if they can’t fix the fault but all I will achieve is moving the fault to a different company (such as back to Vodafone) and paying £10 less per month.

if you keep ipv6 on then make sure you dmz the ipv6 ip for your xbox

Virgin media don't use bt they have their own network unfortunately it depends what area you live in for me it is excellent but i know for other areas it can be poor

Yeah unfortunately we don’t have cable or FTTP in my area...and it’s not realistic to buy a new house for better internet at the moment! 😂

I don't think you can pay for the whole area to be upgraded to FTTP...that's the responsibility of BT Openreach. May be if I win the lottery...in which case I'd be moving country and doubt I'd be wasting my time playing Xbox! 😂
