Xr500 should not be better than the ASUS RT-AX88U for household devices, the WiFi on it is insane.

The latest firmware has problems, I downgraded  2 firmwares back and it runs flawless.

My RT86u handles 20+ devices no problems. Haven't had any firmware problems neither :)

It could be that everyone has charter in my area too with the corona bs and sucking up all of the bandwidth. Its not a huge issue just occasional while watching twitch the stream buffers. My gaming experience is decent and I don't need to stare at my settings. I just set the 2 things I need to set and thats it. Probably gonna sell the XR. Was holding on to it just in case the the update was monumental which I doubt.....If it ever comes out, lol. I really don't care anymore!

I think we could possibly be old age pensioners by the time it comes out 🤣

If you getting melted, make a reset of your router, dont disable anything or turn on any settings. Try play as moderate see if its great. If not try open nat and see if its an diffrence. If you still getting melted then try to downgrade or upgrade your firmware. I made some testings on ww2 yesterday (I was bored) and noticed some some diffrence on what firmware I was playing on. Have a little clip of yesterday (No QoS). Not getting melted, dropping high kds and nice gameplays. I noticed the last guy was wtf?

What i found as an issue was a random spike in cpu usage

For some strange reason i have had an issue where the cpu usage wud spike to 100% and cause my ingame experience to drop big time.... no bullet reg, trailing in gunfights and movement and super lag in general.

What fixed it for me without changing anything was to reboot the router.

Now i always make it a point to monitor my cpu usage before and while gaming.

Hope that bit of info helps.

Maybe a downgrade could solve the issue. But I don’t know if your multiplayer experience will perform better or opposite. If you having good times smacking online and not getting melted then your settings are great for the game you are playing. I owned once a XR500 and didnt have the spike issue. I really didnt have any advantage with xr500. But I have noticed some games perform better on my tomato router and ww2 perform better on my gargoyle and R1 router. It’s really weird but true, testing diffrent firmwares/routers will give you better or worse experience.

I was bored yesterday and tested gargoyle on wndr3700v2 and wndr3700v4 on WW2 because tomato run horrible on WW2 for some reason on Xbox One. But tomato runs perfect on IW and Bo4, Battlefield 1 & 5 on PS4 for some reason. Anyway my testing

Firmware v2

1.10 Enemies slow but bullets little bit slow

1.11 Instant, but one bullet might not connect, slighly higher chance of getting melted

1.12. Stable, its a mix between 1.10 and 1.11 but bullets seems to connect.

Test on v4

12 bullets to kill one guy and lot of hit markers? BS. I turned my Xbox off.

Trottling didnt make ans difference for me.. testet from 50kb up to full bandwitch in 1mbit Blocks (sorry dont know the Englisch Word for dat)

Dont Matter If its anti bufferbloat or trottling.. Share excess enabled/disabled

So i let it be..

70/70 ABB.. Duma Games ckecked.. No geofilter

Computer in DMZ of my netduma Router.

What helped with my hitdetection is

Disabling Paket coascaling (RSC) on Windows

And Interrupt Moderation in my Network Adapter settings

Togheter with enabling msi-mode for all devices,

Setting Interrupt Steering to "all CPU"

And Interrupt target usage to 100%

in the Hidden Windows Power settings

Hitdetection is extremly crisp. Game is way smoother as before.. even Mouse aiming feels way different.. i do have the Feeling i win more gunfights..Like having a better reaction time..and i feel getting hitt

These hidden power settings you mentioned dont show up exactly how you word them here. Are these the correct ones?

I find that they're changing the netcode with every update.

I was simply throttling to 20% of my download, not touching upload at all and forwarded 3074, 3075 and 30000-450000 and I was melting.

Since they updated the game a few days ago, these settings no longer work and I'm getting sponging and shoot first die first again.

Nothing on my router has changed so obviously its the game.

I'm not seeing the  Interrupt Steering settings - tab at all. How do I display these hidden power settings?

I managed to disable Interrupt Moderation in the Network Adapter settings.

But would you be able to give me some more insight on these two:

- Disabling Paket coascaling (RSC) on Windows

- Togheter with enabling msi-mode for all devices

After various testings over the last few weeks I’ve finally found a way to defeat lag compensation on my end, when I was playing on servers in my country (UK) I was always a second behind foreign players due to lag compensation, so I used to always connect to the Spanish server or the Italian server to get myself on the better end of lag compensation, that worked for a while but then when the updates rolled out it began not to work.

For about a week now I have had no issues with being insta melted and Hit marker bullet sponging.

My solution is simple but please note that just because this works for me that doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for others, but hopefully it will.

On QoS I leave sliders at 100% and then select Never. Then on the console you will be playing the game on (which is PS4 for me) Give it exactly 3mb Download and 0.5mb Upload (between 0.5 and 0.3mb) and untick share excess, make sure you untick both download and upload. You can check in PS4 Network settings: test connection to see if what you have set has been applied. I don’t bother with port prioritisation and I leave DumaOS games ticked.

I keep my geo filter on strict with no ping assist and set it to 500km radius around my home country.

I hope this can help others out because this game can be quite frustrating, MW is very generous with the amount of lag compensation that it gives to higher ping players but by manipulating your connection and making it seem like you have slower speeds it seems to do the trick of eliminating it.

@Sable what does yr ping, send and receive curves look like when using this method.

When i throttled 4% (down/up) for peer hosts on BO3 i saw a complete flattening of my ping curve which i never had with the higher percentage i always used with the same BB slider settings (97/97%)

What i cannot get to flatten are the send and receive curves..... interested to see how yrs looks when using either throttled or normal speeds.

Google guru3d.. MSI Tool and Performance Plan utility.. there is explained how to Use them and what They do

For RSC there have a Look on

This is exactly what happened to me. Before update I was enjoying the game. Now because of this I don’t find the motivation to play. It looks like I’m a second behind every gunfight including warzone

How To Make MW Playable, My Sad Conclusion

Before everyone comes in guns blazing, hear me out.

I've spent years and hundreds upon hundreds dollars trying to optimize my gameplay. Higher bandwidth internet (200/20) top of the line modems (SB6183, SB8200, CM1000) high end routers (X4S, Netduma R1, X6S) expensive lan cables, and of course monitors, scufs, headsets. Way too much money to summarize.

Nothing was helping. One day the game is enjoyable, the next I feel like a day one noob. Some days the connection feels solid, the next I feel like im on dial up.

Until one day I thought about what's making my gameplay bad APART from SBMM. Lag comp. We definitely need it to make real time, online PVP work, obviously. But the servers cater to poor connection quality a little too much. It gets worse and worse each year.

So i had the thought: How about I reduce my upload speed! The server will take pity one me! .... This was snake oil. One game the gameplay feel super smooth, like what it should be. The next, i felt like trash. Lol. So throttling didnt work... Or at least, was highly inconsistent.

Then I tried the unthinkable. Play on my phone's wifi hotspot. I thought the gameplay would be jittery, extremely laggy, with possible disconnects. I. WAS. WRONG. I set my hotspot to a 5G bandwidth, restarted my phone to clear the cache and free up RAM. Disabled a few apps running in the background and closed a few more. I connected it to my xbox then started up MW.

You will have a Strict NAT, there is no way around that. You will only be able to connect to Open NAT players. But the biggest difference I noticed: The Gameplay. I went from the little timmy with the reaction time of a snail to seeing people first and being able to react to people. And my bullets were hitting, better than my cable connection. Lol.

Long story short, I made an alternate account to strictly play on my hotspot account, a legit account. My SPM double and my KD was higher. I rush nonstop so I do die a lot but gunfights felt even. Im dropping 30 kills a game, roughly. Not the best pubstomper but the game is enjoyable!

Conclusion: Don't waste hundreds of your hard earned money buying modems, routers, and various other equipment to make a game play better. Especially when the game DOES NOT care about ping, jitter, or bandwidth.
Hook up to your phone's hotspot and join the side Activision seems to care about more - The Lag Comp Crew.

Side note - there are apps you can disable to free up RAM, and a few settings to change on your phone to make the gameplay ultra smoother. I usually have 2.7 gigs free without optimizing. After, 3.8 gigs of RAM free. I might make a YT video showcasing my gameplay for proof.

Put the ports like this

Eg 1   source 3074 - 3075    destination 30000- 45000 udp  or

Eg 2  source 30000-45000   destination 30000- 45000  udp or

Eg 3 source 3074 -3075    destination 3074 -3075

Im just wandering how you put the rule into port forwarding

It was different game. You might wanna try with mw. I have recently been teaming up with one amazing cod player who has average kill of 30. Turned out he has been using mobile hotspot all day long
