You should be setting the speeds as what you receive/expect and then throttle by lowering the Congestion Control percentage. Bufferbloat occurs when your speeds are all being used, by utilizing Congestion Control it ensures this can never happen, therefore giving you better results

NEW XR500 BETA FIRMWARE: 3.3.535
Netduma Fraser replied to Netduma Lew's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
Is this with DHCP entirely disabled now so it's just the reserved IPs? I couldn't say honestly, it's something we've brought up to NG many years ago -
We will be doing more work with the VPN so I can have the team look into it

Set your speeds manually, then test on speedtest.net, what do you get there for upload?

How good is the R3 at eliminating bufferboat?
Netduma Fraser replied to Mach3r's topic in Netduma R3 Support
It is present on the R3, it's hidden in Ping Optimizer > Advanced, you can adjust it there like you would with the XR1000 -
On the router interface in LAN Settings > Advanced and WAN Settings > Advanced

That's awesome to hear, thanks for posting your experience, we appreciate it!

Call Of Duty "Invalid Family Socket Settings"
Netduma Fraser replied to bruistopher's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Remove all the port forwarding, copy the WAN IP on the R3 (found in WAN Settings) and set this in the fiber router, then check whether the issue is resolved. -
From what we've been able to gather from testing so far, it seems to Geo-Lock you and matchmaking appears to use a proxy/relay server so we can't actively block it. We have a few ideas of what we can try but it will take awhile and it may not be possible overall.

List of mobile games and its ports
Netduma Fraser replied to Jeofel08's topic in New Games for the Geo-Filter
It would the testing team a long time to check, it would be better to search online for the ports that each game uses to see if the list is accurate. CoD mobile is listed here for example: https://support.activision.com/articles/ports-used-for-call-of-duty-games -
XR1000 2.4ghz drop out
Netduma Fraser replied to davewhit's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
A lot of wireless devices e.g headphones, mice, speakers etc all use the 2.4GHz band so my first thought given it's just that band going down is that you may have devices like this in close proximity to the router (within ~3 feet), does this seem plausible in your situation? Also worth mentioning if you have a microwave close by then using that will cause that to happen as well. If not, do you notice any patterns with it going off, a particular time of day, particular internet traffic etc. -
No you don't need to upgrade any further or do anything else, just please provide the logs when the issue happens next on this firmware. I would suggest doing a factory reset if you haven't already to see if that helps stabilize things.

Could you clarify, is the issue that SmartBOOST doesn't allow you to add a game/service/device or that once you do you're getting lag? Could you provide more information about how you've tried to add it, what game/platform you're playing on, what ping you're getting, how you're using the Geo-Filter and Congestion Control etc.
-
Glad to hear you were able to get connected in the end, let us know if you have any questions/issues and we'll be happy to help!
-
If you've updated the firmware already you don't need to download it again - could you clarify?
-
That's great to hear, thanks for the update!

If you check the IP on the device itself then check the IP for the device you think it is on the Device Manager do they match? What do you mean by crashing exactly? If you make a support topic then we can help otherwise we don't know you're having the issues. What is the speed you pay for/expect, what are you receiving? How are you testing the speeds? Is this in game ping or somewhere else? How have you setup the Geo-Filter/SmartBOOST/Congestion Control?
-
What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode

How good is the R3 at eliminating bufferboat?
Netduma Fraser replied to Mach3r's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Is it the XR1000 you got? In which case both should eliminate it, they're based on the same software created by us. Best thing to do is to use both on their own and experiment with them and see what works best for you. It's worth noting that the software on the R3 is the latest and it won't be coming to the XR1000 and you won't get any new feature updates on the XR1000. -
We don't have full compatibility for the game with the Geo-Filter and it may not be possible but we're looking into it. There will be some updates for the game in the next firmware.
-
We haven't made an update to fix it but we will be. Apparently from what I've been told: If you keep trying it then it can work, our estimates are that it works about 70% of the time so if it doesn't work first time there is a good chance it'll work again. Otherwise, it's quite possible depending on the device you're trying to use that it may not be compatible with WPS on the router.

Providing logs for older firmware won't be very helpful, we'd need it on newer firmware as that will be the basis for new firmware going forward. If you could upgrade and then if it happens again please provide the upgrade. Also if you're happy to provide remote access for when it happens again we can take a look.

Random disconnects? If you disable IPv6 in LAN/WAN does it continue to happen? Is this on the .219 firmware?
