  2. Hey Netduma fellows, Hope you’re all having a great day! I wanted to share the best settings I’ve found for improving my online gaming experience. Now, I’m not sure if the Netduma team will be happy about this because, honestly, none of these settings are related to the Netduma router. I’ve been using Netduma routers for over five years, starting with the R1 model. Sometimes, they performed great; other times, not so much. Over time, I began to question whether using QoS alone was the best approach—until I was introduced to SQM (Smart Queue Management). Some of you might already be familiar with SQM, CAKE, and FQ_CoDel, but let me tell you—SQM is an absolute game-changer when running on high-performance router hardware with OpenWRT. My Solution for Consistent Performance The key to getting good, consistent results (which has helped me maintain a 3+ K/D ratio in every FPS game) was: 1. Using a high-performance router that supports OpenWRT 2. Enabling CAKE as the QoS algorithm Since CAKE requires significant CPU power, I chose the Flint 2 router, which can efficiently shape over 500 Mbps of traffic while running CAKE. The Best Part? Set It and Forget It The only tuning required is adjusting overhead and MPU (Minimum Packet Unit) settings. Other than that, once set up, it just works. That’s all I wanted to share. Hope this helps someone out there struggling with network consistency!

  3. Glad you're all having an open converstation about networking, that's great! If I could ask you to take the conversation elsewhere though, this is the Netduma support forum, so not the place to be promoting alternative routers

  4. After so long with the netduma R2 and the xr1000 as well as the R3 router, i have decided that these routers are simply not worth it. The amount of software issues & lack of functional updates is unbearable. I have switched to Asus routers which has definitely been alot better (Asus ROG rapture GT-AXE11000 Running asusWRT Merlin software) this router has been 1000% better in every aspect and it was the same price as Netduma routers. I love the concept the the Netduma routers but the functionality and software support for these routers are none existent. Im not sure what needs to change with the Netduma team but the lack of support is not on my list of favorites. Among the lack of software support, these routers seem under powered and cooling efficiency is lacking especially when pushing these routers to the limit. Netduma we pay money for these routers we are expecting you guys to make a real effort in solving issues like QOS or even interface related issues. I have been watching the forums for awhile now and i have made the decision to no longer be a supporter or customer until there’s some sort of major overhaul with the software and the team working on this… granted nothing is perfect but an attempt to roll out updates or “hotfixes” would be appreciated by many, and the fact that there is no 3rd party software support or solution shows me that these devices aren’t as customizable as they may seem. Overall i am extremely disappointed with netgear(xr1000) and netduma(R2,R3) i have owned them all & the only reason anyone should look at getting this router is for the geo filter for blocking servers you don't want to connect to. Overall i give these products a 3/10 absolutely a waste of money.

  5. You guys absolutely fkin KILLED it with 4.0.540. Not sure if something was also done on Spectrum's end, but my avg latency dropped from upper 20s and mid 30s to the high teens and it's a stutter-free as ever! 500d/20u plan. I'm running an Edgerouter 4 from the modem, which handles the main QOS. As you can see, it's playing exceptionally well with my Smartboost priorities on the R3. I've been running this since it was an official update. My wifi is more stable than its ever been as well. No dropouts on wifi or ethernet either. I don't think I'm moving from this FW. Kudos, team.

  6. Thank you! I adjusted it manually and have my congestion at 80% download and 75% upload for now. Will keep trying the ping optimizer to see if it starts working eventually
    2 points
  7. We are aware Ping Optimizer/Speed Test isn't 100% reliable at the moment and it's something the team are working on. Those features can still work, it just may not be every time. In the meantime best to adjust Congestion Control manually in Ping Optimizer > Advanced.

  8. I solved both problems by changing the mode from bridge to DHCP cascade, you can close it, thanks.

  10. Agreed, I got my R2 in 2020 during COVID, and the concepts a great idea. However, the lack of support is really poor; the lackof updates for the router is poor and the the fact they have now brought out a new router and left the R2 in the dust shows how little they think of those who supported them by purchasing there product.

  11. I did not. Only on the router! My wife works from home so I have to wait until she goes to bed before I can “mess up the internet” haha

  14. If I could update the Netflix service, that would be great. VPN only for these services/NETFLIX Thanks
    1 point
  15. Only VPN these services will work but the services will be out of date as they're never used so no one has reported them as not working, I'll ask the team to update them when they can.

  18. @MatijaHere’s a link that you can use as a reference to find the option after you do take the WAN IP from the XR1000 and add that to the Fritzbox. https://nl.fritz.com/service/knowledge-base/dok/FRITZ-Box-6660-Cable/131_Exposed-host-in-FRITZ-Box-configureren/
    1 point
  19. @MatijaDid you set it up to always on the QoS page? Because if it’s on auto, then it’s not going to properly apply as it would only apply when it detects certain applications. DMZ isn’t safe, but it’s the only option if you want to open ports while gaming through the XR1000.

  20. apologies just seen this. so phone wise i restarted without DHCP done. and phone seem to stay connected now which is odd now. When i next go on my ps5 i will give this an attempt and keep you posted once done.

  27. If the ports are okay and you have an Open NAT and that happens with the Geo-Filter disabled, I can't see a specific reason why the router would cause that with others
    1 point
  28. No it won't cause any negative effects It'll block servers you denied once the connection to that server has been severed so wait a few minutes in the lobby after the game then re-search otherwise you run the risk of connecting to it again. Also there are many servers clustered in a singular location, you'll be denying a single server in that cluster, not the location. What do you see when trying to access?

  32. What happens if you disable filtering on the Netduma router before opening FragPunk? If it works, then a required server is getting blocked and the Netduma team simply need to whitelist it

  33. @Netduma Fraser Thank you very much your answer everything is very clear I hope in the future it can be fixed. Thanks again for your support.

  34. Make to set it in bridge or modem mode or with the XR in its DMZ. You don't need to allocate the PS that much upload/download, gaming barely uses any bandwidth, reset the allocation and leave it at its defaults. You can remove the CoD series on prio, it'll be covered by Games Console. Congestion Control is high, you may want to consider experimenting with the values if these other changes don't provide any further benefits.
    1 point
  35. That is an R2 specific DumaOS 4 bug yes, it should have defaulted to 0-0 and not been able to be changed so not sure how you were able to do it which likely means to revert it back to that and prevent it happening you'd need to do a reset.

  42. I’m at my wits end with this fight. I’ve been dealing with this issue for years now (since BO4) and I’m tired of it, boss. To sum it up, it seems as if I am constantly a 1/4 second behind everything that is going on. Bullets come flying at me out of thin air from enemies I can’t even see. Or if me and another enemy round the corner at the same time, they always see me first. I almost never get out of a 1v1 gunfight without taking damage, because on the enemies screen I just stood there for a second like a bot before shooting back. On the flip side of that, If I am full sprinting anywhere around the map, the server side prediction extrapolates my character out ahead of me. Enemy players will see me come around a corner on THEIR screen before I’ve even come around the corner on MY screen. I’ve tested this thoroughly by sprinting towards corners and stopping 4-5 feet before, pausing (to give the server time to sync up to my actual position), and then running around the corner where I will then have a fighting chance at winning the gunfight. I bot-walk pretty much everywhere now because if I dont, I’m screwed. Oddly enough, I don’t get any latency warnings, no one is packet bursting around the map, and my ping is very stable. The only quasi-workaround that I’ve found to this is using geo-filtering to camp the Florida and NY servers. With a 50-65ms ping, the game seems to run smoother. But ONLY if I play solo. The second I join up with teammates, it goes right back to feeling awful. I can also squeeze a few good games out before the poopy hits the fan again if I unplug and hard reset my router and get some fresh IP’s. This will usually net me 3-5 games where everything feels really smooth and crisp before beginning a rapid degradation in the quality of my connection. This issue is present on both my PS5 and PC! I’m using Quantum Fiber 1gig with a C5500XK ONT (bridge mode) —> XR1000. UPnP is on, NAT is Open, both systems are hard wired. On Speedtest.net I pull 940+/- a few up & down. I have all QoS completely disabled as the buffer bloating is abysmal with it on. I’ve adjusted those sliders every which way and it just feeds me awful results as opposed to running it wide open. 4ms ping, less than 10+ latency down/up with 0.5-1.5 jitter. There has to be something I’m missing. My friends think I’m crazy, and I’m starting to believe it. BUT they’ve seen the proof! When I watch THEM stream, it’s like they’re playing a completely different game than me! Perfect hit detection, mostly in sync with the game, aim assist works like it’s supposed to etc etc Please feel free to ask me anything and I will do my best to answer! Thanks for reading, and I really hope we can find a way to resolve this.

  43. game has been unplayable for me i gave up getting shot around corners, multiple hitmarkers to the head and fighting my controller when trying to aim cuz it wants to pull me off target
    1 point
  44. Thanks for the clarification! Try accessing using the DumaOS app instead of the interface when playing as that would use less router resources, do you then get the same rubberband issue? Ping Assist is a setting you change yourself, you can set that to 0. Game servers don't respond to traditional pings so it may not always be able to ping servers, that is normal. What device is disconnecting, how often, for how long etc

  45. What is the model of the modem/router the R2 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R2? E.g R2 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R2? What are the speeds you pay for/receive? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? What platform are you playing on and how is it connected, via ethernet or WiFi? How have you setup the Geo-Filter? Where are you testing the speeds?

  48. If you're in a dense urban area for example where there are lots of people it could happen regardless of the ISP you choose. Caused by an oversubscription of people in your area on the particular ISP. In times where everyone is online e.g. during peak hours where people have come home from school/work the connection would be worse, in non peak times it should be better. Your paid for speed may also fluctuate during those peak hours. That's a good indicator of whether you're being affected by this. Do you see a change in latency in the game when playing? Are more people in your household using devices when this occurs? You can use the features the router offers for the game but there isn't a specific setting that would apply to that game and no other, you won't get that on any router really.

    Delta Force

Get them to identify Delta Force as gaming ASAP at least. Right now, I've added my entire device. Don't think it's that hard to just categorize the game correctly. Please don't tell me this simple task is going to take months. Geo Filter, I remember you all said now it's easier to update via cloud and it will be easier to add new games. The only game added is Black Ops 6. Delta Force & Space Marine 2 which I've been asking since last year are yet to be included. I'm guessing it's either 1 guy is doing this task or he has other tasks and doesn't even have a single day to just add some servers. If I could do it, I'd already get this done sadly I don't have access to update the cloud. I mean asking for patience at this point is a joke. We are in a whole new year. At this rate I won't be surprised I'm still asking in this forum come May. I know @Netduma Fraser that you do your job extremely well. Seriously the backend team my God a snail would have reached the finish line at this point. It's always excuses. I remember last year it was 1st hey we will do it & then sorry Black Ops 6 is out team busy. 2nd Sorry it's Xmas and holiday's now. Now what's the new excuse. Wait you don't even need to tell me. Here is my 3rd excuse that's coming sorry we are finalizing the firmware update. Sigh!!! Fine don't do the Geo Filter I give up just do the bare minimum and get the Delta Force game categorized right. You don't even want me to get on the constant disconnection issues everyday once because of PPPoE and Vlan. I'm monitoring the situation & for 1 year have to keep restarting my router once every day. Yes, I'm on the VERY LATEST BETA RELEASE OF THE FIRMWARE! Yes, I have completely done a hard reset. Sorry, this is extremely exhausting at this point
