  1. Hi @Netduma Fraser & @Krush, thanks a lot for the quick feedback! Good to hear that this is a known topic and that improvements are being worked on regarding PPPoE performance on the R3. I’m definitely looking forward to future firmware updates in this regard. I’ll test this setup and monitor both speed and latency. If there are any beta updates or settings that could improve PPPoE handling on the R3 directly, I’d be happy to try them and provide feedback! Thanks again – I appreciate the support!

  2. We are aware speeds are slightly slower using PPPoE and we'll improve that if we can. Otherwise you can put the R3 in the exposed host on the Fritz instead and have the fritz handle PPPoE as mentioned above and then you should get better speeds through the R3.

  3. @Netduma Fraser Very easy as explained in my other posts it puts the R2 into a state where the router acts as a mesh and the internet works fine but soon as it tries to load the duma os software it fails it even states in the logs it cant start certain duma os components it tells you exactly what the issue is without giving certain info if the router was at fault the router would not work at all no matter what it only does not work when it tries to load the duma os witch its stuck on after a firmware update

    Montée de Ping

Correct, you wouldn't be able to solve that. Generally in the case of ISP congestion there isn't much you can do except perhaps switch to a provider that isn't as subscribed to in your area.

  5. @THE_DON_PABLO Crazy you mention this seems like you aint the only one in this boat .. I went and bought a xr1000 saved myself the hassle least its made by netgear not netduma had no issues so far but av got a R2 that does exactly as you state and many others otherwords its bricked .. Only offer i got was certain % amount of a new router lol Not going to buy another when old one failed after a firmware update .. Duma will state its a router issue but nothing todo with the router as router works fine without the duma software what wont work is the actual duma software wont load nor give any internet connection nor does factory reset even reset anything .. If the router was the cause how can you explain how it works without the duma software but with duma software its bricked lol They traet there customers like they are brain dead but infact just makes therm look worse as people aint stupid with whats going on no wonder netgear went seprate ways with netduma .. They dont want anything todo with them no suprise really

  6. This is the exact thing that happens to me, i have read a few peoples issues now and it all seems to be the same issue. Funny enough it seemed liked the R2 started going funny when the R3 come out.... I tried what you suggested on my post and my r2 wont even get a connection from my router now. If i am luckily enough for the r2 to show up on wifi or Ethernet I'm stuck with the set up page anytime the box restarts. I cant keep the r2 on long enough to be able to allow for a pushed update or firmware either . I had my r2 since 2021, like i said in my post never moved it, disturbed it or anything that would cause these issues and a few people now have explained the exact same issues. I cant even force a factory reset from the button at the back, it does nothing. Feel like throwing it at the wall

    Gears Of War

We will test the game, can't guarantee we'll have support for the beta specifically but when it is out properly we'll have it available (assuming it works)

  11. I posted in the topic just over a week ago about it: We just need to do a little more testing on this (last thing we want is for this situation to happen again), tie up a few loose ends and then it should be good to release to the beta crowd here.

  13. Just a quick update, seems I was right in the beginning, there was stability issues at streamlabs. Dual output seemed fine tonight but I'll get back to you maybe Friday to check.

  14. There really isn't much there indicating an issue, just the DHCP lease which should be taken care of with the changes you made but ensure all devices do have a reserved IP and then disable DHCP on the router, reboot from the interface and monitor from there

  15. We were told not to worry that the team would have released the v4 also for R2 How is possible that after 2 full year (March 2023), the V4 stable is still non available for R2. How long are you guys beta testing this thing? for 1-2 years If it's not ready so be it, but I haven't seen very much commitment to bring the V4 stable on R2 which wasn't cheap. Forcing people to buy R3 because software features that improves game experience. Maybe it just an hardware limitation, i'm ok with it, just full transparency... I wouldn't be upset if you would just say "Hey 3.3 would be the last stable update for R2, if you wish more the R3 is the next step. thank you", rather than "oh we are working on it" beta testing for how many years now?? EDIT: Forgot to mention that I applied for beta testing and the last bets version worked without much troubles delivering a better gaming experience but I can also see people struggling with the firmware and I really feel bad for them because that could have been me.

  21. That does sound in brick teritory, no the USB port has no functional benefit in this situation, TFTP will be your only hope here, don't give up with it, the timing for it is tricky and can take a few attempts

  22. Just an educated guess really, it's likely we'll never truly know! No worries, we are aware there are a lot of mislocated servers there so we are in the process of correcting them

  23. You're in Early Access where .645 is the latest: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/58424-new-r3-firmware-dumaos-40645/ Are you seeing the bufferblot/high latency in game or just on a test? How often are you needing to restart? If you could grab a log when the disconnect happens (if it still happens on .645) we can take a look

Salut !

I have a technician from my isp coming Monday I’ll let you know how it goes I think it might be their side as a direct connection to the pc still won’t let me use it

  31. They can't detect you're Geo-Filtering, all it appears to them as is that you can't connect to specific servers, that could be for a lot of networking reasons and certainly wouldn't lead to a ban, otherwise anyone with a bad connection would get a ban. In the 10+ years we've been operating no one has ever got a ban because of using the router. If you're shadow banned then they wouldn't tell you that, factory reset your modem, connect direct to that and check, if it's still an issue then try another account direct to your modem

  34. What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode By default IPv6 is disabled so you will need to enable this in WAN Settings

We're aware the test isn't 100% reliable at the moment, use a bufferbloat test and adjust the Congestion Control percentages manually to achieve the same effect

If you've only been given the ports as just 50 - 60 then #3 would be the best way to do that

  41. The Geo-Filter it wouldn't affect at all, SmartBOOST it shouldn't affect either, the only sort of reports we've had concerning those two are disconnects with PPPoE, though not everyone is affected and should be fixed in the next Early Access firmware. There was also a report about speeds being reduced when using VLAN which I've let the team know. If you were to get these issues then yes it would be the most reliable, otherwise it doesn't really matter, the extra hop doesn't do much in terms of adding latency

  42. Access via routerlogin.net/adv_index.htm disable WiFi radios in Settings > Advanced, apply, reboot from the interface, close the interface, wait 4 minutes, then enable and follow the same procedure. See if the WiFi & normal access works then

  44. I followed the steps listed by jodafi when I had restarted and had hte error "Dumaos is not loaded yet...", but I wanted to clarify a few things for others that wasn't as immediately obvious to me. Completely stock XR700 running 1.0.1.50. Monthly restart revealed the error and it immediately cost me 4 hours with my family on a Friday night. Whoever 'effed this up needs a firm nudge in the nads. Handy pre-start tip - If you have a lot of address reservations, port forwards etc. screen grab each page and paste it into Word so you can quickly re-enter later. 1. I downloaded http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/XR700/XR700-V1.0.1.20.zip, extracted it 2. Then I logged in through this address http://routeripaddress/adv_index.htm to access the Netgear end of the Firmware 3. I accessed this address http://routeripaddress/debug.htm and clicked "enable telnet" 4. Clicked /Administration/Firmware Update/Browse , selected the unzipped file "XR700-V1.0.1.20.img" and then clicked 'upload'. 5. Once it was installed and rebooted, I factory reset it by holding in the reset button for more than 10 seconds. I used a toothpick. 6. Once it had rebooted, I then set up the router as usual with admin and password, however, once setup, it would still return back to the error. 7. I used CMD in windows, run as administrator and then typed "telnet routeripaddress (type your router ip address here) 8. It will ask you for your router password that you just set up. 9. Then i followed this part of jodafi's earlier post but importantly, you need to copy paste the whole lot. I got stuck here because I couldn't paste into CMD. You have to right click the Window title bar (the bit you grab when you drag a window around the screen) then click 'edit' and paste the whole lot into CMD. Then press enter. Once this is done, you should be good to set it up again with your login details etc. I also upgraded to the latest Netduma OS for this router and it feels snappy and happy. Not touching it until it dies again!

  46. @frontline1967have you tested that 70% for download/upload on Congestion Control are the ideal values for your connection? It sounds like you may need to adjust these further: Follow this guide https://support.netduma.com/frequently-asked-questions/legacyfaqs/test-your-ping/ while downloading & start with 95% for Congestion Control (set to Always), check results, decrease by 10%, check, decrease by 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good & then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. Download & Upload on Congestion Control don't have to be the same value & you may have a better experience with differing values. How do you have SmartBOOST setup specifically (not Congestion Control)? The NAT status can be impacted by the Geo-Filter blocking the server used to test the NAT status, it doesn't mean you're switching to moderate, it just means it can't read that it's open but it still will be open. To confirm, when it shows moderate, disable the Geo-Filter, reboot the game and check again.

  47. I don’t know if they are actually manipulating the game in real time, or if the match making system just starts putting together some really bad lobbies (connection wise). Because we can’t see players pings in BO6, it makes it even more difficult to try and figure out what’s going on. No other game that I play has desync/extrapolation issues like this game does. It’s wild

  48. The team are going to attempt to reproduce the issue to see if they're able to resolve it, we'll come back to you

  49. Correct This is the 3.3 firmware so if you're already on it you wouldn't need to do anything. Yes it would revert it - you can disable auto update in Settings > Administration > Firmware update Are you referring to the official update? If so there is nothing blocking it on our side

  50. Ten years ago today, we launched Netduma. When you’re in a startup, you spend most of your time looking forward. Rarely, if ever, do you look back. Learn from your mistakes, don’t dwell on them, keep improving. But today, we want to pause for a moment. It has been a decade, after all. The Beginning We launched Netduma from Iain’s parents' kitchen. Our website had just gone live, selling the Netduma R1—our first router. It was no wallflower. Frankly, it looked a bit like a fire alarm, only had 2.4GHz WiFi, but the software Iain had built was unlike anything else out there. We sold out of those first R1s almost instantly. The e-commerce site Iain’s dad had hurriedly put together held up well. Our logistics process? Not so much. That led to many all-nighters as we worked through the order backlog. When you’re a startup, it’s impossible to be good at everything. But to make it, you need to be exceptional at one or two things. We had two. As gamers, we knew firsthand how much lag sucks. And with Iain’s brain, we could actually do something about it. Soon after, we moved into our first office (to the relief of Iain’s parents, whose house had begun to resemble a factory floor). We hired our first full-time employees. Word spread about what our software could do. Bit by bit, month by month, we levelled up. We improved our software. We grew our team. We made mistakes. We learned from them. We kept going. And we repeated that over and over. The very first Netduma office. Looking Ahead Fast forward to today. Our tech stack has evolved from fixing lag in games to fixing all bad Internet - for work calls, video streaming, and everything else. We’re partnered with British Telecom, Telstra, NETGEAR, Nokia, Genexis, and Mercku, with more partnerships to announce next year. Just a few weeks ago, our Service Provider business won the Scale-Up of Network X award. We’ve got a great team, great customers, and great support around us. And we’ve managed to do all this without any investment, putting every penny we made back into R&D to make new features (more on that further down). If you’re reading this, you’ve likely been part of the journey. Whether it was buying one (or all!) of our routers, helping on the forum, or telling us how we could improve - you’ve made a difference. Every piece of feedback, the good and the bad, has helped shape who we are today. None of this would have been possible without the support we’ve had along the way. Thank you. But here’s the exciting part: we’re just getting started. For the past few years, we’ve been working on two groundbreaking features. When we first envisioned them, we weren’t sure they’d even be possible. One fixes bufferbloat once and for all, with no downsides. The other pinpoints the root causes of poor Internet performance, whenever they occur. These features are set to shake up the industry and will be announced early next year. While it’s great to look back on the past ten years, we’re even more excited about what’s ahead. A huge thank you to our elite team in Cambridge, our incredible partners, and everyone who has supported us along the way. Thank you, Luke, Iain, and the entire Netduma Team P.S. If you haven’t yet bought our award-winning Netduma R3 router, which runs the very latest Netduma software, you can use the code ‘10Years’ for 10% off—this week only.
