how to get better hit detection

The difference between having the source port changing is between open and moderate NAT.

Basicly is you have open NAT source is always 3074 (on PS4)

If you have moderate NAT the source will be in the range 62000-65535.

You can go into the network tab in MW and display the external IP, it will show the port its using. 3074 or 6xxxx.

This isnt 100 % correct as atm i have a moderate  nat type because i havent setup my new router correct yet

But it shows im using port 3074 udp in external ip

also on my network monitor it shows 3074 uudp as well

ive made a few threads about this topic

This is all thanks to a7legit who told me about it  who sadly passed away

on the forums but i wanted to update it  here to make it less confusing

here is a link to the poll i created over a year ago if you found this helpful please vote here

when playing cod mw19

the game uses 3 ports all the time

the two ways i know of how you find out what ports the game uses for you are

the first is a programe called wireshark on pc

the second is in the older firmware called network monitor

but it isnt in the new firware

It shows you the ports your connected to  when gaming

This to me is brilliant  for every game

i ave found a load of ports the game uses  in a list below

if you put these ports in to traffic priortizatio your hit registration becomes brilliant

before i was struggleing to get kills now when i put the ports in before it would take a whole magazine to kil on person   now two or three bullets kill them easily

when you put the right ports in the game it is using you can istantly tell

the three ports go like this

the first is always 3074 for myself on ps xbox1 is 3075 i think

this is the data centre port i wil call it  this stays the same for me it never changes

the second ports changes everytime you restart the game for me that is

In the case a useer here caled ghost his stays the same all the time

as he alwys connects to same matchmaking server

I wil call it matchmaking server port to make it easier to understand

the 3rd is the most important port i think this changes every time you join a new game lobby

this port as soon as i put this main  port i will call it in  my hit detection becomes brilliant

heres an egxample i start the game without putting in the main port in

I playing and im struggling to get kills i quickly run to my pc put the port number in  while im stil playing in the same lobby

as soon as i put them in trafic priortization imy hit registration becomes brilliant and i  aint struggling no more

This is the same game after game so i know its no placebo affect  ive did the same thing on previous cods as well with same results

these are the ports i found so far playing cod mw19 so far

i put these into traffic priortizatin in single rules

i prefer to do them indavidually as i know what ports the game is using for me

The game uses only 3 ports at once

for you guys who are not using the older firmware you have to open them up in ranges

heres the ports i found so far

all are udp far as i know

some of these ports might be listed twice as i havent had time time edit the list

you can put these ports into ranges

this is how i would wright the ranges but im no expert at it

Source  3074-3076 destination  30000-45000 udp  rule 1

Source 30000-45000  destination 3074-3076 udp   rule 2

Source  3074-3076  destination 3100-3500 udp    rule 3

Source  3100-3500  destination 3074-3076 udp    rule 4

please can you vote in the  link above if this helped you at all

also the link has a better info in it from other users here

With a bit more details

as im trying to get theadmins to reinstall the ole network monitor

as the new network monitor dosent have this feature

and i wouldnt have been able to post these ports if i downgraed to the older firmware

on Xbox 3074 is just to connect to Xbox live, i dont need that prioritized , I dont think those packets are priority.   3075 is always the in.port and those other numbers you have listed that's in the 3000's are the ex.port number. if I'm not connecting to a peer. according to UPnP.

The 3000s were listed  in my upnp  settings screen when i play cod

I was told before in the past that its a bug

But i beleive its correct

So if its showing you  ports in your upnp that starts with either 3074 or 3075  olese list them here

I put in 3074 -3076  because  every person connection is diffrent  and i need to put it in as this is a guide

I dont use port 3075 or 3076 either but im on ps4 not on xbox1  or pc   but this guide caters for all three

I got 8731 , should I prioritize that port then?

Omg really thanks a lot i thought that it might show it

lol i was about to ask that question in my openwrt thread lol

Omg  i just checked it out ist a game changer it shows you the port plus the server adress and name of the sever as well

What this means  in future coul'd be  massive

Have u seen any similarities in data to what has been posted over the various threads?

My connection is good but there is always room for improvement.

Its just showing the same ports i listed but a lot moe information

I can see the dedi server adrees who host the dedi and the oirt it uses

In my post listed above i think RL327 mentioned  tcp ports might be used as well  he mentions a7legit thought this was the case

im thinking the same thing of what im seeing so far

In my captures for both BO4 and MW i found only udp to be in play once the match starts

Also tcp causes delays as it operates different to udp, hence most games only using the udp protocol for gaming packets.

Does this make sense to anyone,  if I dont keep my geo-filter where I'm connecting to servers only the port number changes on my xbox  from 3074 to something like 49156. every time my hit detection goes to sh!% I check it and its changed. any ideas why this is happening? I wish there was a way to manually change the port number on the xbox to the in.port and ex.port number I'm using in modern warfare.  it says you can manually change that number but you cant.

Was it port 49566 by any chance? Do you have multiple Xboxes or consoles in your home at all? If it was 49566 and you do have another console thats used then it may switch to this port when 3074 is being used by another console.

only 1 xbox 1, it was port 49156.  could that happen if you connected to a peer and they was already connected the server?

I mean it's possible, I couldn't think of why they would do that at all. Have you done any port forwarding rules? If you've not port forwarded correctly that could explain it. Switch to UPnP and see if you see the same behaviour.

Btw way guys thers another way thats even better than wireshark and network monitor  to see what ports the game is using

Its from using open wrt  on a router

I just found out about it yesterday its brilliant

It shows you

The ip adress of the dedi the host of the dedi  the port the dedi is using how many packets the dedi is using

It looks absalutlely brilliant

Also im pretty sure when you first boot up the game it shows every dedi  and there port for a few minutes and who the dedis hosted by

Atm im trying to work out how to copy the info down

Thanks to User here called progprogprog for telling me about it yesterday

Btw it is also showing that we do  use tcp 3074 with another tcp port thats when your in the menus screen  it was showing whilst i was playing a game

But i only checked at the start of the game when timer ticks down i will post an example here in a while  of the stats its showing

 When im using my pc

hers an example of

IPV4
UDP Source 192.168.1.115:3074     destination 95-179-204-207.choopa.net:42440
7.36 KB (120 Pkts.)

Admins i think you should  should bring in somthing like this to the dumar os its even getter than the olld network monitor
And it shows you every thing you need to know
also if people postd a list of these ports and dedis adresses
You could just look at the list to see your dedi you play on and use the port from the info
It means you you could you wouldnt have to make port ranges
With port ranges you prioratize  a lot of ports at once  but this way you only have a few open at a time

A user just uses the port for there dedi  this is how ghost is doing it at the moment
I hope i made sence

This part is to the admins only
Would me making a list of all the  dedis and their ip adresses and names  with the ports they use help you  with the cloud update

Hi. Sorry I’m kind of uninformed here.

but don’t u need just open nat type to get the best hit registration?

That’s just what I know about ports. Other than that I forwarded these ports to my PS4 to get “the best connection”

But sometimes I don’t think they’re enough. Any help would be appreciated
