Have to say this is bad business for them as many R1 user like myself will just buy another router that it far better,

They took to long with this update, as a few weeks is 3 weeks at best.

. If you really want better game play get a 1ms monitor for console. That's all you really need.

Theres no such thing as a 1ms gaming monitor. The 1ms you are referring to is black to grey (refresh rate), people get confused and relate that to improving game lag. It is "Input Lag" rate that you are looking for when gaming on a monitor to improve gaming lag or a T.V for that matter, the average for a really good gaming monitor is around 9ms.

What is response time?

The response time of a display is how quickly it can change its pixels from black-to-white or gray-to-gray. A display while turned on usually shows a black screen when nothing is being shown on it, and the time it takes to display a gray or white pixel from this state is recorded as its response time rating. So those pretty logos you see on the boxes of displays that state “2ms”, “6ms”, and so on reflect this measurement. It simply dictates how fast a display can go from a black-to-white or grey-to-grey pixel.

Can response time tie together with input lag?

In a way, yes. As a pixel is inactive when it’s black, and active when it’s white, it means that a picture needs to be visible before you can react to what’s on the screen. [pullquote]The faster the response time of a display is, the quicker it can display an image. The quicker it does that, the quicker you can react to it.[/pullquote] This is the reason why the lag tester is such a valuable tool; it records the combined display response time and input lag of the HDTV or monitor, and displays it as a single number. It’s a new way to measure this phenomenon that makes more sense. With a combined measurement for both response time and input lag, gamers can rest assured that a display is fast enough to reduce image ghosting, and responsive enough to register their inputs as soon as possible.

In summation, don’t read too deeply into the response time rating advertised by display manufacturers. I’m glad manufacturers advertise it, as long as it’s not confused with input lag, which is NOT advertised. Want to know the combined response time and input lag of a specific display? Head over to the display database and check it out for yourself!

2 weeks for a downgrade feature?? Ahahahhahahhahahhaa..

Sorry but , no sense feature..

It makes sense for one scenario. If R1 users found out the Anti-Jitter/Anti-Spike features aren't in the new DumaOS build for the R1 then all they really have is a copy of what is on the XR500 which from what others have posted on here has quite a few annoying bugs which really wouldn't be worth the hassle if those feature still weren't in. So those R1 users would likely want to downgrade back to what they were running previously to avoid the current bugs in the DumaOS. So by delaying and making sure it's possible to downgrade those users aren't left stuck with R1 they no longer want to use because the new DumaOS is lesser than then what is currently on their R1s.

Reposting something I mentioned before. Netduma staff, you really need to higher a PR rep with more up to date or current experience. This thread should have been locked immediately and pinned after posting.

Pretty sure I read Iain saying a while ago the R1 version has went through so many revisions that it's been tested more than previous firmwares to make sure it's stable

This was some point last year I think so the thing must be rock solid now.

I'd have to agree with the thread locking.

We haven't locked it because it give everyone a place to comment.

If the thread is locked we'll get a whole bunch of new threads polluting the forum asking for an update. Then we have to moderate all of those instead.

Then, if we delete that plague of new threads, we'll get accused of 'violating free speech' and 'censorship' by people that have absolutely no understanding of 'freedom of speech' but they say it because they think it sounds clever.

<_<

It's relative and subjective.

Linksys has a new XBox One gaming router out now.  I haven't researched it but I may start comparing it to the XR500.  It's a shame that they've let us get to that point...

you referring to the X32 or 32X? That is  a shit router with it's shit stock firmware. It is an EXACT copy of the WRT3200acm but snazzier user interface and sprayed black instead of black and blue!

Can you post any objective evidence of this? I'm always genuinely curious.

just go to any retailer or even linksys' own website and read the hardware stats for wrt3200acm and the X32. And yes, I know it is a fact as I have the wrt3200acm with lede installed. The router is a beast, but with the stock firmware it is crud!

I have tested the x32 with the gaming firmware its QOS was quite good just not as good as the R1 at stopping spikes, there was no other features worth using though.

So if you need QOS then it is not bad router but I have so much control with my consoles packets taking priority and filtering servers with my R1.

IMO for PC users, Linksys have quite the same feature set as R1 (if not better because of network sharing features). For slow bandwidth connections I find the R1 better but for fast bandwidth connections, I found the Killer networking QoS on the WRT32X slightly better if you leverage your full bandwidth. However, the R1 has the better way to suppress bufferbloat/handle bandwidth restrictions via GUI. But then again I find the overall GUI of the WRT32X better, more bugfree and more optimized as the one from R1 (and guess what they even have timezones and working NTP functionality) but DumaOS for R1 WHENEVER it/if it comes might be the more mature opponent and better as the WRT32X one. From hardware side  (and WiFi performance) WRT32X is the clear winner.

BTW it's 3 weeks now since the delay of the originally announced "FINAL" release date. How long should this farce continue?? Can we at least get a status update on how far the backward compatibility (if even the real issue) has come? Yes, I know the answer is no but just asking hypothetically. THANKS! (for nothing and even less so far)

So... how's "a few weeks" treating everyone?

The faster you guys get used to the idea there won't be a full-fledged DumaOS on the R1, the better. Have you seen their Facebook or Twitter? It's all about the new hotness.

they missed the original announced launch date by 2 years and still haven't given any kind of explanation, so dont expect anything more then being strung along until we all stop wanting want we were promised and in many cases actually paid for (anyone who purchased the R1 during the announced DumaOS period, expecting to be able to access it when promised).

if they were being honest about the situation they would regularly be making status updates, even just checking in to say "sorry but no further news at this time" which is the very least that the netduma crew owes all of us, but instead getting info from them is harder then pulling teeth, which atleast to me makes them untrustworthy, any there unlkely to ever earn another $1 from me without significant change in there business practices.

even just checking in to say "sorry but no further news at this time" practices.

There's very little point in an Admin posting in here to say "no further update" when I've already said it.

OMG, are there still some crying around here? Do you think that by continuing to cry and putting nonsense here they will solve something? or will they make DumaOs come out earlier?

Stop and touch the noses with your post nothing useful and the worst of all is that they are always the sad four ... always sadder life must have to spend the day in the forum posting shit. Not that their lives were out of a firmware ... make them look ...
