As long as I've helped one person at some point that's all that matters Zippy. Glad to hear Ive pointed you in the right direction when needed, that makes all the research and bug testing worth it. 😊

The DoS issue was patched in 2.3.2.56, BIG_DOG.  It's the certificate disclosure issue that's effecting the XR700, R9000, R8900and RAX120. Hotfixes are meant to be incoming soon for that one. I just updated my RAX120 on Monday to a new firmware that was just released and now I 'll have to apply a hotfix as well <sigh> I wish Netgear would be more proactive as the hardware is great. After a while its hard to remember which vulnerability effects what router these days

I understand a firmware update is currently being worked on but it's release date is unclear yet. Hopefully a patch for this issue is included in said update. Please note that although
Netduma work on thier software ultimately it is down to Netgear when firmware is released as the hardware is their product.

I would hardly call myself a Netgear Guru, Zippy, maybe I just have to much time on my hands  but yes if you use any firmware lower than 2.3.2.56 on say the XR500 you open yourself up to a nasty Denial of Service attack on your router and LAN. The risk is all yours if you do downgrade, but if it goes wrong and you get caught out buy any of the patched security vulnerabilities they have warned you. Netgear wont really help you that much because they have posted that advisory as a way of saying "update now, if not its not our fault anything bad happened"  It's basically their disclaimer for responsibility if you didn't follow their advice, which is fair enough really.

A VPN can help secure your connection by encrypting incoming and outgoing data your mobile device receives. It cannot protect yo from malware but can protect yo from snooping data theives nearby on the same public wifi.

Having said that, I advise NEVER to access your emails, bank acconts or any other financial service you have when connected to a pblic wifi network. Infact I wold advise never to connect to a public wifi (that is the best form of protection).

    Associated CVE IDs: None
NETGEAR is aware of a Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificate private key disclosure vulnerability on the following product models:
R8900 R9000 RAX120 XR700* These products use Certificate Authority-signed certificates to provide secure HTTPS access to the router web interface. You might see a security certificate error or warning when you try to access your router’s web interface using HTTPS.
NETGEAR plans to release firmware hotfixes for all affected products as soon as possible.
Until a firmware fix is available for your product, NETGEAR recommends that you:

    Use the NETGEAR Nighthawk app.

Instead of using HTTPS, log in to your router’s web browser interface using HTTP to login in

Hi, sorry I don't know the answer to that. If there was an issue I would assume the app would open but not be able to obtain an online connection. If the app is failing to open I would suggest an uninstall and re installation.

I am glad your issue you reported has been satisfactorily resolved.

Hi and welcome to the forum. To add skype on a particular device on your network to have priority go to QOS and scroll down until you see the traffic prioritization section. Click add device button and add the device then the service you want from the options that pop-up, skype is 1 of those options.

If you are getting the r-app message then clear your browser cache and close browser and retry.

I take it you are using the XR700? Have you correctly formatted the drive for the router to recoginse? NTFS should be fine as I don't thin it supports exfat. There is no need to invest in a larger capacity drive, I had the plex server running on a 1TB drive but invested in a synology NAS as I did not want streaming and video rendering interfering with gaming or impacting my gaming in any way.

When will there be themes added to the "Themes" tab on dumaOS? Although I am not a colour-blind sufferer I do know that the red spectrum cannot be recognised by certain colour blind sufferers. I have mentioned this on other occasions which is why I would really like to see alternative theme colours for such users.

So I've changed it to internet and also there is another setting called vdsl low plc mode. I know I had to have that on with my old router otherwise the speed would drop in half. Trying that again. I shall try putting the ABB settings back to 70/70 to see what happens with the new settings because I should notice any packet loss/ lag at these settings blockquote widget

Yeah, I would love to turn it off, but there is no way to.....are there any decent powerline adapters that dont have QoS built in or that can be turned off?
For now I've put it onto the internet setting, as im hoping then whilst gaming it won't try to interfere with the gaming packets, and nothing should be classed as internet?

Youtubers cherry pick their game plays that end up in their videos. They also lobby shop.  A lot of these guys if they start a game and die while on a good streak but didn't get all their streaks yet will simply quit that game and find a new one.  They don't waste time with the BS.  So you only see the best but in reality that's not their normal experience.
