  1. Thank you on keeping us posted about this.. It greatly appreciated.. Thanks! Zippy.
  2. Hey guys! Well I have some very bad news as well.. I now never get a closer server. Im going to go on here again to see whats going on here.. Something isnt right with this update.. I dont think the game is Geo locating me/us properly.. I am a US player and it hasnt put me on even a somewhat close server yet.. As broken as Halo Infinite is who says this update they gave us isnt broke! Im very disappointed in 343.. Thanks! Zippy
  3. This is very very sad news. And I was hoping this was really meant for PC players that were changing files of the game.. But as we now can see this is not the case. 😞 Im actually sitting here shocked atm.. A good amount of my friends I play online with have Netduma.. This isnt going to go over well.. Now that Halo has done this I sure hope this doesnt expand out to other games.. I was Geo Filtering last night on Halo. Now im going to get on and see what server it picks for me now! My guess is this wont be good. Im a US player but it rarely ever put me on the two closest servers to me. It always put me on the East Coast. Which totally made no sense. I will post back what server it decides to put me on now.. And see how frequent it does this.. Im really just very upset at this whole thing.. Thanks! Zippy.
  4. Heres something to check. Make sure you dont have an authenticating server blocked by accident in the Geo. Zoom out and see if there is another server poping up out side of your radius when playing a game. It usually only shows itself every so often.. So one does have to be quick to spot it. From what your describing above that usually is the case. Good luck! Zippy.
  5. If you do a google search you should get more info on the VRR for Halo Infinite. Im not sure if you were part of the flight program or not but I also have a Support Ticket opened with them on this stuttering issue but I did ask them in the ticket if VRR is enabled for there game. I will share what they say when they reply back. From what others have tested VRR isnt enabled. But we need to give 343 sometime to dial in this game yet. Im like you though and think that for a AAA game one would think this is enabled. But lets find out for sure. 343 has always replied to my questions. Hope they will do the same here. You made a smart move going to the newer console. That way you shouldnt have any issues because the series X console really is a beast! Im going to treat myself to one as well as soon as they are available. Which seems like forever! lol. If you do get a new monitor make sure it offers VRR.. Also if you go into your display settings of your current Xbox is VRR enabled? Double check that. Its very likely our problem might be our older Xbox. I dont know what yours does but the minute I load Halo Infinite my Xbox One X sounds like its going to shoot to the moon! Im sure its being driven pretty hard. Again I will let you know what comes of my support ticket. But im guessing we wont hear much until after the holidays.. Sounds like 343 needs a break. Thanks! Zippy.
  6. No worries! VRR stands for Variable Refresh Rate.. What usually this does is keep the game buttery smooth during a game when frame rates tend to drop a bit. Or where you have a player coming in at a higher clock speed or refresh rate.. Most game developers use this. It just aids a game when framerates fluctuate during heavy action. Or action in general. It basically forces a refresh instead of waiting for the next framerate.. And when a next framerate comes it does a refresh again.. Do you experience any micro stuttering? Things like that at all? Does your monitor display its running at 1080p at 60Hz? Thanks! Zippy.
  7. I think what you are experiencing atm is the problem of no VRR.. Somehow that was over looked in Halo Infinite. They are aware of this issue as it effects everyone in game in a different way.. Some more severe .. Every game you play the outcome will be different.. So basically this has to do with frame rates.. What do you have set atm.. Quality or Performance? If your on a Xbox One X you should have this option. Halo has quite a few Support Tickets open atm.. And im sure you have probably seen how many issues there are.. 343 has been getting alot of harsh criticism coming from all directions.. This VRR issue is a must to get fixed.. Zippy.
  8. Welcome Kieran! Looking forward to the more content as well. Good luck with it all.👍 Zippy.
  9. Awesome video! Wish you all the best with Netduma! Id have to imagine working for such a nice company is quite a treat! Again all the best! Zippy.
  10. Give it a try if you want.. Again I do find myself like one of the only one that uses IPV6.. I just find that part strange.. lol..Im not sure if different ISP are at different stages of there IPV6 roll out or what the deal is there.. Thanks! Zippy.
  11. Thats interesting.. For me I have IPV6 enabled on both WAN and LAN and it seems to perform better for me.. Im on the Xbox and have upnp off and no port forwarding rules and no dmz used.. But I do get an Open NAT even with all of that off.. Which is correct for IPV6 to work like that.. I think im the only one using IPV6.. lol.. Thanks! Zippy.
  12. Did you happen to know or remember when you had IPV6 enabled did you have upnp on or have any port forwarding rules active while using IPV6? I would think that is what it means yes! I just found it a bit confusing that in the new network test for remote play on my xbox that it said my outbound port was open.. Which is 3074. It was just funny it mentions outbound but doesnt mention inbound with it.. Not sure exactly what it means by that test on my xbox.. I would have just thought it would state your xbox port is Open.. And not mention inbound or outbound.. To me when I seen that test I was like what about inbound.. Idk really what that means.. Could be nothing.. But yet strange.. Zippy.
  13. Hey I was going to ask you if you are using IPV6 at all? Or are you using strictly IPV4? Makes me wonder if having a Moderate NAT helps to keep the flow of traffic in both directions more even? One thing I found strange about having an Open NAT with an Xbox is port 3074 is Opened on outbound only.. It never does mention of an inbound port being Open.. A while back I notice Xbox added another test into there network settings and I believe its for remote play...Have you noticed this test? Even though it stated everything was good when performing that test it only mentioned my outbound port being Open.. One would think there should be an inbound port as well? Anyways just wanted to share that.. Wasnt sure if you ever noticed that or not.. Thanks! Zippy.
  14. I also noticed that a Moderate NAT type does tend to give better results.. Even though this doesnt make much sense having a Moderate NAT but it comes down to what works for each person.. So there really is no wrong or correct answer.. Go with what works. Ones MTU on the other hand I find as a very interesting beast.. Normally one would just leave our current setting.. Which in most cases is 1500 for most people.. But with that said rarely do any servers run at a full 1500 MTU value.. There always lower.. Google, Facebook, Cloudflare, MS, ect. all run at values bellow 1500 MTU value.. So what does this mean.. Path MTU Discovery is what sets the MTU value when we connect to a server..Even a game server.. Both IPV4 use this and IPV6 use this.. PMTUD sends a message of packet to big try this instead to set the MTU.. But from my readings is Path MTU Discovery is not really that reliable.. Specially now when we have IPV6 in the mix.. Regardless even if you have IPV6 disabled on your home network chances are if you connect to a server like Google or MS or a big data center your likely going through some sort of tunneling which having the correct MTU value is even more important.. Just to be clear im not saying for anyone to go and start changing there MTU value.. If things are working well for you Id leave well enough alone! The only reason I mentioned the above is theres alot of factors to take into consideration when things arent right.. And im only really touching on a few of them.. Zippy.
  15. Your welcome! Please do let us know how your new modem does. Im curious on how your results will be with the new modem.. So feel free to share your results. As you know im not a fan of Spectrum.. I think your best chance possible to get a better grip on your ping is buying your own modem like the one you have mentioned. Its going to be your best bet.. Spectrum doesnt seem to be so concerned about latency which is a shame.. My neighbor who is on what I call crusty old dsl has a much better gaming experience and much more stable ping.. But he also only has 7Mbs down and 3 Mbps up.. But yet he games on it fairly decent tbh.. Anyways good luck! Keep us posted. Zippy..
  16. That is a good modem.. There are two that I like.. One is the Arris SB8200 and the other is the one you mentioned here the MB8600 which is the Motorola.. Im also with the same provider as you are. Charter Spectrum.. When it comes to DOCSIS 3.1 modems id buy my own.. Dont use the supplied Spectrums DOCSIS 3.1 modems. They are locked down and have been having issues with there own in house firmware for there DOCSIS 3.1 modems.. When you purchase your own modem you are responsible to download any updated firmware from the company you bought the modem from.. So example of this would be if you bought the Motorola then you would have to get any updates for firmwares from them directly.. Not from Spectrum.. Which is what I like and want.. Also your modem wont be locked down to where you cant make simple changes if need be.. Even though theres not alot in a modem interface its still nice to have full access.. So you should be just fine with the Motorola.. Most seem to buy that one because its got a good price.. The Arris was a bit more expensive.. But as time has past the two could be fairly close now.. Both modems dont have the puma chipset.. Which is another plus! Good luck! Zippy.
  17. It should be compatible with most any modem.Just not sure exactly what you mean by had difficulties turning on? Is your ISP Charter Spectrum? Also make sure you make a new topic if your having trouble so you can get the help needed if your still experiencing issues.. That way your issue wont get over looked. Thanks! Zippy.
  18. Do you have an XR450 or and XR500? I noticed in your sig on the left you have a XR450.. If you have a XR450 I dont think the beta has started for that unless they are considering that a XR500.. Thanks! Zippy.
  19. Thanks so much Casey! Glad to hear.. I also tried this and had the same thing happen.. So I was able to reproduce.. Thanks! Zippy.
  20. It would be close to maxing out your connection.. But it would not max it out fully.. If you do the math with QoS on the download the router is capable of handling is about 860.If your connection is capable of 940 then it wouldnt fully max it out. The difference is about 80 Mbps on the download.. Upload the router is capable of 821.With QoS on.. The difference you would lose there is about 59 Mbps.. So again it wouldnt fully max out your connection.. These are just figures of course on paper.. And from what Fraser has mentioned for capable speeds to expect. And this is all with QoS on... Speeds likely will vary depending on where and what server one is testing to.. With those type of speeds you have im not sure you would even notice not having that extra there.. Good luck! Zippy.
  21. Thank my friend! Will give it a go in a bit. Zippy.
  22. Fraser I have to ask are these cloud updates at least being done over https? This is an answer I feel needs to be asked. I get this is a gaming router but I sure hope Cloud Updates are over a secured connection. Also why does this router rely so heavily on clearing ones browser cache and cookies? I have beta tested a lot of routers over time and I honestly have never seen so much talk about browser cache and cookies. I have the XR500 and this type of talk doesn't scream superior to me at all. And the fact ive never run across this before from other routers might mean its not a good idea. So when I log into my router does it make a connection through my browser to some server every time I login? Is the router trying to make a connection to a server? How about when one flushes the cloud on the Geo Filter? Is it trying to communicate to a server for these cloud or profile updates? Also what about these R-Apps. Why is it these start to take longer to load? Are those only communicating between me and my browser/router? Those aren't trying to communicate outside to some server are they? Thanks Zippy.
  23. Have you tested to see if it does work in Custom games/Competitive? My guess is if the custom game is being hosted on the server then the ports should be the same. But if a custom game flips to a P2P then they may not.. You will know if its working by the red light and by a nice flow of packets being prioritized up and down or send and receive.. Zippy.
  24. That's good to know your light is now turning back on with that arrangement. You could always experiment even more if you wanted and further narrow down your source port even more. But if your happy with what you have then great! The reason why 3074 isn't your source port is a good question. And why others are able to use it and have game traffic go through it is another interesting question. What we do know now atm is your source port for in gameplay action isn't 3074 UDP. So your making headway there! Zippy.
  25. I also find it strange that some are getting 3074 for in gameplay traffic as well.. It does seem to change for whatever the reason. And we wouldn't have known this if it wasn't for all the good info posted here. I have did a port capture from first power up of my Xbox X to when I load a game and get into the lobby. For this test I was using Halo5. And here is what takes place for me which I found interesting. For this test I do also want to be clear that I only was looking at the order of ports from power up to when playing a game. And my capture was strictly focusing on UDP. Heres what took place for me. Powering up Xbox X Source 3074 - 3544 Destination UDP Then right after that I got this arrangement. Source 3544 - 3074 Destination UDP Now I load Halo5 and got into a lobby but didn't start a game. Source 3074 - 3544 Destination UDP Now I start a game and this is what takes place. Source 3074 - 3544 Destination UDP right after that came this. Source 57567 - 30005 Destination UDP. (This is the Dedicated Server for in gameplay). Right after playing a game and was sitting back into the lobby this arrangement came back. Source 3074 - 3544 Destination UDP. From here this would basically repeat itself except the port number the Dedicated server uses for each new game always seems to change. Which would make sense. But my Source port 57567 always staid the same. This pattern also goes in the same order when playing Cod as well except the Sever port numbers are at a wider range 30000:45000 UDP on that game but again my Source port when playing is always 57567. What I do find interesting out of this is port 3544 UDP. Its a tunneling port MS uses for IPV6 Teredo Tunneling. Even when I have IPV6 disabled that port is still present. I am going to test this with full Native IPV6 and see if that port is still there. But in order for me to get my IPV6 to fully work I have to use my ASUS Router. For whatever the reason my XR500 IPV6 DNS isn't working.. Another surprise there! lol.. For those of you wondering when I prioritize ports the only ones I personally am prioritizing are my in gameplay ports.. That's it! And only UDP ports.. Zippy.
