Performance on latest FW 1.0.2.86
Netduma Fraser replied to Jayo1177's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
The only differences between the two are security fixes so there should not be any difference to how the versions perform, they're usually quite small so I'd be very surprised if it is the cause of the issue. The DumaOS version hasn't been touched between versions either. I don't think there will be any more updates planned unfortunately. Has QoS been fully disabled where it actually prevents you changing options on the QoS page? The DumaOS version from the beta is the one that's in the public updates now so you're all good on that front. What is the model of the modem/router the XR is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the XR? E.g XR in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the XR or do you still have some connected to the ISP router?- 22 replies

Call of Duty covers Warzone also, we made the decision to roll it into the one option as the server locations are the same. We did update Heatmap but they made changes and it became out of date again very quickly, we'll push another cloud update to resolve it and hopefully it'll last longer than a day this time before they make changes. Ping Heatmap and the Geo-Filter are completely separate features, one does not impact the other. Ping Heatmap has a pre-compiled list of servers it pings. The Geo-Filter only shows active connections so the Heatmap server list does not impact any active connections. So whatever you may be seeing with the Geo-Filter is not related, please let us know what the issue specifically is.

Good response above - it's one of those suggestions that float about the internet but in reality won't make a difference and if it does then it's almost certainly a placebo

R3 DumaOS 4 - Achieving Open NAT for P2P Hosting (GTA Online)
Netduma Fraser replied to ifell's topic in Netduma R3 Support
You own the R3 so you're on DumaOS 4 MTU is specific to your connection, you would need to test it to see what values you can use without getting fragmentation. Might be worth a switch back or testing others to see if they might be any better. Again I doubt these things will make a difference but worth a try -
Higher Latency issues than before with the NetDuma R3
Netduma Fraser replied to Luis5409's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Okay that's good that the high pings seem to be resolved. Given your location I'm not sure it's going to be possible for you to get 20-30ms as a lot of that would heavily rely on how good the routing is from your ISP, more likely it'll be you having that 45-50ms ping more consistently and be unaffected by any devices in your home but when Ping Heatmap has been updated you'll get a better idea of what the lowest ping is that you'll be able to achieve. That's it for Settings I would say, any adjustments would likely just be to Congestion Control but you can experiment with that. -

Add Gaming as well as an activity to SmartBOOST but let us know how you get on with all the changes when you have a chance to test it properly -

Netduma Fraser replied to Luis5409's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Do you mean that you had a CG-NAT but they've taken you off it now? You can change it from the Speed Test option bottom left then Advanced. Congestion Control can be set in Ping Optimizer > Advanced, bottom left under speed test. This is one of the most important aspects to ensure you have a smooth connection. Would suggest setting to Always or Auto and start with 70% for Download & Upload and you can experiment from there based on your experiences to see what works best for you. How did you set SmartBOOST, what priorities did you set, did you do just activities or add the device as well? What gaming device are you playing on? -
Great to hear that and thanks for the ID, I'll pass it on to the team!

Netduma Fraser replied to Luis5409's topic in Netduma R3 Support
What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to? If you've enabled bridge then that would pass all traffic through to the R3 so speed/traffic wouldn't be an issue so what do you mean you have 1 NAT running on the modem? Are ALL devices connected to the R3? What are the speeds you pay for/receive? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? How have you setup the Geo-Filter exactly? - You should disable Geo-Latency in the Geo-Filter settings otherwise you can get games outside your radius that may have a higher ping. Where are you/have you been checking the ping, in game? With Ping Heatmap the game can change the servers they use frequently and so it can become outdated (we updated it last week and it's already out of date) but we are aware, I already informed the team earlier today so they will update Heatmap via the cloud as soon as they can. It won't affect your ability to use the Geo-Filter though. -
Okay so there will be a server that appears blocked on the map when that happens - almost certainly in Ireland, if you allow it then it will let you through. You may need to do it a few times, i.e. each time you load the game but once you've got them all it'll work normally without Geo-Latency enabled. If you could also provide the ID of the server(s) it is then we can add it to the global whitelist.
-
You should disable Geo-Latency and then ensure you're only covering the servers that are giving you the lowest ping. If they're too close together to do so then as you play them add them to your deny list so you build up a list of denied servers and you will play on the lower ping servers more often. You can also try using Ping Assist setting the upper limit to ~55ms which may do better.

Severs are not showing ain ping heatmap
Netduma Fraser replied to RichardB's topic in Netduma R3 Support
If its worse then it's not setup correctly, please make a new topic with what you've changed on the router and we can go from there -
How many servers do you have in your Allow/deny list? You've got an allowed server in the UK that should be blocked alongside everything else but isn't. Try with actually drawing the polygons rather than the country selection, restart the console and try it again please

Does Geo-Filter help in BO7 Call of Duty in Ukraine?
Netduma Fraser replied to Dmytro's topic in Netduma R3 Support
The closest server to you is the Warsaw server so I would expect that the 23ms you're seeing is to that server specifically and otherwise you're connecting to a server further away. So yes in theory getting the router to utilize the Geo-Filter would allow you to force the Warsaw server more consistently. However, I will provide some caveats so you have the full picture: I'm presuming that the Warsaw server is the server giving you 23ms, it might be that in private matches it is relying on a P2P connection instead in which case this wouldn't be accurate and you're actually seeing 23ms to a person in your match instead. If that is true then your normal ping could already be to the Warsaw server or another and so may not be able to be lowered. The Warsaw server isn't one I see very often so I couldn't say if it is one that is frequently used for online play. For example, the Milan & Madrid servers are notoriously hard to force games on, even for people that live close to them so it's not a guarantee you'd always be able to force it.- 1 reply

Are you testing just with the in-built speed test? As this does frequently show lower than expected results but it doesn't mean you are limited necessarily. So do check with speedtest.net for example. Make sure you've set the speeds you pay for/expect in Speed Test > Advanced and then in Ping Optimizer > Advanced ensure speed test bypass is enabled so it's unaffected by any Congestion Control settings you may currently have set and try again. It would also be a good idea to perform a factory reset as its a big firmware change from DumaOS 3. Otherwise let us know what speeds you're expecting and what you're actually getting please, along with an overview of your physical setup.

R3 DumaOS 4 - Achieving Open NAT for P2P Hosting (GTA Online)
Netduma Fraser replied to ifell's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Okay that's good to know, if you're having that issue with utilizing the DMZ and NAT Filtering Open then it's not possible that you have a NAT issue on your side. I'm sure you've already done it but the best thing to do would be to see if you can find others with your issues and see if they have some alternate solutions that might work. It's not something I'd usually ever recommend because it really doesn't/shouldn't make a difference but it seems we've established they're not doing things normally so you could look into changing your DNS and ensuring you're using an optimal MTU value. -
Your network and therefore the devices you use on the network impact your connection. All the devices connected to the TP link effectively have priority over the R3 and the gaming device as the R3 can't control them. Whether or not in this instance it is the cause for your ping I can't say but it is definitely something that won't be helping you the way it is setup currently. Okay so the game itself can show you the ping then, with your gaming device directly connected to the TP link what does it show your lowest ping for the game? Networking has a lot of variables and everyone has a different connection/circumstances. Even someone in the same city/village/town/road as you may have a better ping if their routing to the game servers is better than yours for example. This is why its good to try and get a baseline of the ping you're capable of achieving direct to your TP Link so you know what is possible.

There isn't anything that would've changed to cause that to happen, it's very likely a simple reboot would resolve it, does that work?

Upgraded to the latest FW XR1000
Netduma Fraser replied to Sentinel82's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
I think give it another factory reset and try again as it shouldn't be cutting out at that point without changing the details, if that doesn't work you will need to access via ethernet unfortunately -

I'd always suggest being on the latest, either the last DumaOS 3 firmware or the DumaOS 4 Early Access version
