Good advise above, in addition: Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible

WiFi Range Comparison R3 & XR500
Netduma Fraser replied to CrAzY_V3t3rAn's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
I live on a full ground floor, between the router and the furthest point there are 3 fairly thick walls in the way and I still get full bars of signal just to give you an idea. -
WiFi Range Comparison R3 & XR500

It's very hard to do that because everyone's setup/home environment will be different, there may be more obstacles which might limit the range. I'd say the hardware on the R3 for WiFi is better than the XR500 and more akin to the XR1000. -

When that happens grab the log from the System Information page using a wired device and post it here please -
WiFi Range Comparison R3 & XR500

The WiFi stops working in what sense? I'd say they're probably comparable but let me know your issue and we can probably resolve it. -
The server that's hardcoded for use isn't working properly, as we don't own the server there isn't anything we can do about that and as development is in full force for DumaOS 4 for the R2 it'd take more time to push out an update to change the server. It will be working properly in the DumaOS 4 update.

Same as before, utilizing Congestion Control and priorities - CC will ensure devices can't make each other lag and priority will put you ahead of everyone else
-
There isn't a bandwidth allocation option per se anymore as the point of SmartQoS/BOOST is to allocate bandwidth automatically based on usage/your specific priorities. You can reserve bandwidth but I don't think it will allow you to reserve that much - click the icon top right on the SmartQoS page > Manage Profiles > Primary profile > Click the bar type icon top right and you can reserve bandwidth there. Reserving that much bandwidth just for gaming is unnecessary, gaming uses barely 1Mbps most of the time and doesn't use more bandwidth just because it's available.

Geofilter

Great to hear, thanks for the update! Once we've sorted the issue we'll do a cloud update so it can work with the PC device type. -
It can't reduce your ping to servers where the high ping is entirely because of your distance from that server - it can't beat the speed of light! However, yes it can help you to force those specific servers in the UK/EU that play the best for you.

We're aware of this issue and looking into it, in the meantime, remove the device from the Geo-Filter, then in the Device Manager give the PC the Xbox device type, then re-add it to the Geo-Filter and it should work then. -
You'll need to sign up here: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/39415-introducing-early-access/ and then we can get you added.

I've not heard anything yet, I'll see what the plan is
-
No not specifically, with SmartQoS it's all done automatically based on need/your priorities. So the best thing to do would be either to remove streaming from priorities or perhaps add devices that you want to prioritize over the TV instead.

I think we have a couple of people with Starlink, just keep in mind that it won't be able to resolve the inherent instability that comes with satellite internet.

I've not encountered anyone mentioning the R3 overheating thus far and given we're in the height of summer I'd take that as a good sign!

XR1000 BETA NEWS?
Netduma Fraser replied to DARKNESS's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
It thinks it's an R2 for some reason which is likely part of the problem but yes when the update for the router is out, 3.3 which includes dumaweb the app should just start working better without a specific update for it -
Ah okay, I think it'll be due to using PPPoE and that'll be the max you can achieve while having the R2 handle it.
-
Don't worry about the internal test, it's not always going to be accurate. You said your ISP hub died so what's the setup now specifically? I've given you Early Access to try that firmware: https://forum.netduma.com/forum/144-netduma-r2-early-access/

Great thanks, keep us posted!

The app was fixed a long time ago I believe, are you still unable to login?
