curious to see if i get another email for CoD since i already played the PS4 beta

entered two codes, one for PSN and one for XBL, though im not sure if it fully worked

For all the Xbox and PC gamers, here are my comments and tips for BO3.

 

Weapons:

ARK-7:  This ended up being a good gun for me once I ranked it up.  I typically ran this with extended mag, rapid fire and suppressor.  It will do well in medium distances.  You may have to feather the trigger for longer distances.

SMGs:  Most people like the Razorback.  In close quarters I found that I was often being killed by the Kuda with suppressor.

MSA7:  I really liked this weapon for medium to long ranges.  It is almost a laser.   For some reason (coding?), I struggled to get kills at short distances with this.  I liked running reflex, rapid fire and extended mags with it.  I tried it with a suppressor with mixed results.

Shevia:  Great gun if you have great aim.  I recommend high caliber for one shot kills to the head.

LMGs:  Most of my friends preferred the BMR, but the dingo was also good.

Pistols:  The pistols are very good in close.

 

Perks:  Ghost once you can unlock it.  If you get care packages, you will need Engineer to roll the care package to something else. Sixth Sense is good, but it will only alert you when an enemy is VERY CLOSE.

 

Mini Map:  The enemies are actually closer than they seem on the mini map.

 

Specialties:  Because Ghost will not be unlocked until later in the beta time frame (i.e. 2nd or 3rd day), I highly recommend the Blackcell launcher to shoot down the UAVs, Counter UAVs, etc.  You get points for them too.  I always do this for my time.  Playing Domination, I once shot down over 50 UAVs, counters, etc. in one game (over 3500 points). 

 

Scorestreaks:  RASPs are awesome.  Mothership is good but there are other streaks at lower levels more worthy.  HATR is awesome.  Talon is very fun when manually controlled (unlimited amo and continuous fire).  Hellstorm once you learn to use it effectively is really good too.  

 

Specialists:  Find the one that you like.  Mini Gun is very fun.  I liked Vision Pulse for capping flags and knowing where they are.  Psychosis is a lot of fun to distract.  We had our entire time run it for one game.  On the 2nd round, we all launched it on the B flag and there were 24 players and bots showing on the map.  It was too funny.  If you snipe or play from a distance, rejack is good.  Watch for the green cloud when you kill someone.

UK_Wildcats_Fans is Ghost like in bops 2 that you have to be moving for it to be effective ?

 

I don't know if it was able to be unlocked during the Beta, but everything I have read indicates you do have to be moving, planting or using a remote control scorestreak.

That does not bother me as I move all the time I can not keep still.

 

I know on bops2 with stock on an AR you can walk ADS and stay off the mini map.

 

But they have nerfed stock in bops3, I wonder if it has made the ghost walk null and void.

You need to be moving in order to stay off the radar. You can see your triangle icon fade a bit to show that you are now hidden.

Get rid of the most played game mode with 46% of the player base in it? That is like losing almost half the player base.

This beta is meant to test the game's code and online experience. So there is no need to keep nor show a record of the player's ranking.

And like JConnor has mentioned, yes, COD may either be dying or they are trying to simplify it for the players by changing the player count to percentages. It could even be both.

All I know is that this game rewards players for being good and my stats these past few days are in-line with my previous COD stats again. Something that AW tarnished with it's desire to feed SBMM down our throats.

yes i am aware of that obscenity. scroll down to CTF and the 1% of people playing. TDM is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.   :(  if it didnt exist people would have just as much fun but actually DO SOMETHING in the game other than sit in a corner with their auto-detonating explosive and thermal scopes.

Here is how the beta ran for PS4.  The levels take forever to level up.  This is on purpose for the beta, so people aren't max level within an hour.  On the first day, the max level was 28. Ghost is level 38? The max level increased each day; therefore, you were able to unlock more items each day.  Ghost works while moving or using scorestreak.   It does not work if you are standing still.  I grinded through the levels for the entire beta period and barely reached level 49 before they shut it down. 

 

More tips and comments.  

 

A big controversy will be the Blackhat. There are various youtube videos on how to use it.  Blackhat is a tactical item (like concussion, flash, etc.).  You can have up to two blackhats per class.  It only takes one blackhat to hack a UAV, Counter UAV and turn it into your UAV or Counter UAV.  For higher score streaks, it takes two (or more?) to hack them.  Therefore, you can turn a Wraith or Mothership into your own.  This personally happened multiple times to my party.  For this reason, I started caring the Blackcell launcher.  If it gets hacked, I just shoot them down.  The controversy is that any player can easily hack a scorestreak that took a skilled player to achieve.  I like the concept of blackhats to counter getting massacred by streaks, but it should be harder to do.  In example, two blackhats for UAV/Counter UAVs and 3 or more black hats for higher streaks.

More tips and comments:

 

Weapons:  Vesper is very fast firing but has LOTS of recoil.  Shevia with rapid fire is great.  

 

Attachments:  The stock is not as great as other games and only provides slight mobility improvements.  You can finally stack ANY attachments such as high caliper, FMJ, long barrel and suppressor.  There are no restrictions on what can be put together.  The thermal has a better field of view compared to other games.  

 

Lethals & Tacticals - All thrown items do NOT travel very far.  You have to really aim up high to get it go a short distance.  

 

Lethals - The frag is pretty good because of the short distance thrown and it can role.  The damage and damage radius is very good.  The thermite grenade seems like a great item, but did not work as well in game.  

 

Tacticals:  The concussion grenades will make you come to an almost complete stop.  It is like VERY SLOW motion if you get hit by one.  It also seems to last a very long time.

 

Specialists:  War Machine (aka MDL) is great for clearing out areas (dom flag or hardpoint). Unlike AW, the Active Camo (aka invisibility) is actually very good.  The ripper has limited applications. Tempest is great when players are clustered together or protecting a tight pathway.

 

Game Settings: There was sensitivity for X & Y individually.  There are various button layouts and separate option for flipped (i.e. switch R1/R2 and L1/L2).  After doing horribly for two days, I noticed that the Target Assist somehow got disabled.  I don't know if the settings changed by accident from the various people (son, nephew, friends) playing on my PS4 and account or whether is got changed during one of the many crashes.  I recommend that you periodically check (especially after crash) that Target Assist is enabled.

 

Game Performance:  There was several games with very considerable lag, more with parties.  You can see who is partied together (awesome).  It takes longer for parties to find games.  The game often crashes.  If you crash or have problems with parties, we found it best to close BO3 beta and restart it.  If you don't people will have problems joining into the game.  Game invites do not seem to work well (or at all); however, you can join people.  The friends list always seems to be wrong.  At one point the Beta showed 10 friends playing BO3.  If you actually checked the friends, only 2 per playing.  I did not really notice too much difference playing with or without geo filter and ping assist.  I typically have to turn it off when in a party.  It seems that only players with great/fast internet connections are able to host large parties.  If you have problems with a party, change party leader to a player with better connection.  

 

Wall Running:  It will take you time getting used to this.  I fell of several maps.  There are tons of places that you would not think that you can wall run.  Drift0r has several youtube videos for each map on wall running.  Almost every time that I got into a gun battle (both on wall), we both died.  

 

Thrust Jumping:  I found it better to rapidly tap the jump button.  Don't hold it.  

 

Scorestreaks: Rolling Thunder is only useful for a very small space on the map.  It is not like the old bombing runs.

I find in a lot of lobbies people just play TDM anyway, very frustrating to see team mates getting 34 kills 27 deaths and 0 captures in Dom, (you pretty much get given 1 capture at the start of each round, it takes a special effort to get 0) If TDM did not exist players would play objective games and just play them like TDM.

^^^This!  For a long time I used to see everyone fawning all over the people that put up 100+, 200+ kill gameplays in Blops 2 and I was like, "So"?  You played an objective-based game mode and never once capped a flag?!  So while other people were playing the objective, you were kill whoring, so you really didn't do much to help the squad, now did you?

 

I am of the firm opinion that if you play like this, you are a first class, weapons grade, c*nt.  I don't care if it IS a game and if you DID pay good money to play it.  Play the fucking objective or play a game mode where killing is the only thing you are expected to do.  Don't join an objective, team based game mode and leave them 5 on 6 uphill because you are trying to be the first to link (5) Motherships in one game.

Got a question.  I keep seeing people through out this IED/Bouncing Betty thing that looks like a kid's model rocket.  It seems to bounce up in the air and people duck under it, like the bettys.  I am wondering if I can place those on the roof/ceiling of areas, like the cave at the hunting club looking place, or on the wall and have them work the same way?

You're welcome.  Yes, that is a trip mine. Without Engineer, it is sometimes easily visible.  With Engineer, it is a lot easier to see.  I have see them placed in all kids of places - floors, walls and ceilings.  The C4 has a proximity alert as well.  I believe that you still have to manually detonate it though.

The big thing to keep in mind in this game, for those who are about to play it for the first time on XB1 and PC, is there is no "Toughness" that minimizes your flinching when shot. So, be sure to get that first shot off the moment you see somebody. I think I lost more gun fights to this alone versus not seeing the enemy, or being in a bad position, etc. I'm wondering if the community will demand "Toughness" be put in, or a perk be added that mimics it?

 

Also, my anecdote about the kid who took the time to voice message me proves most of the kids aren't very skilled because TDM relies solely on twitch reflexes and yes, camping. The biggest problem with TDM is all the Youtube stars they worship like Ali-A and others CAMP their butts off and they want to be just like them. They will stay in a very tight area and control it, but not in an objective game mode. You never see the whole map with these losers and this is the play style the kids emulate because they want to be the next Ali-A, or TMartn.

I am not sure but with the trip mines I found myself jumping if inside when I saw them to avoid and didn't die. Not sure but will try again on the Xbone!

Exactly. I am a TDM player and love that game mode most. But too many bad players and people who want to be like their favorite YT or actually do what they do and ruin it for the rest of us.

Part of the problem is the game itself.  For example, the average points per game in Domination is usually higher than the average points per game of TDM.  Therefore, someone can play Dom and get a few caps (beginning of each round and spawn flips) and then play it like TDM and get more points and kills than normal TDM without really playing the OBJ.  If the average points per game were fairly even, I think that it may prevent people from playing game modes just for higher points.  I play almost exclusively because I like the objective game mode.  I have talked with many people that play Dom simply for points and higher kills because the spawns are more predictable.  That is why I always try to party with fellow OBJ players.

I play obj because it has an OBJECTIVE. it's much more fun and thrilling when the games are tight. Dom is a poor man's objective game. It's objective light. Capping a flag in CTF in the final seconds for the win is far more thrilling than much else. Or sabotage which is basically a game of smear the queer (is tha tpolitically correct anymore?) Demolition. These are the real obj games. Hardpoint is the easiest one to game the system, far more so than domination. Jump on point, jump off, wait for defender to jump on, kill defender and jump back on. :)

I'm really glad the beta is over,let's see what the boys on XBOX say.Very few PTFO (play the f**king objective) but that's in any COD wise,change the way DOM is scored...100 a cap...25 a kill and you'll have some OBJ playing people like you've never seen.

 

I think I hit level 42-43 ish and ran all the guns to try them out and all the specialists I could.Hopefully they fix the issues they need to before launch,but again COD hasn't had the best rep for putting out a great product lately.

Well, I am home and looking at the XB1 screen.  Digital copy and there is no other information accept a button that says "Play it on 11/06/2015" and that's about it.  Anyone else?

 

Highlighted a Black Ops 3 Digital Deluxe Edition and there is a "Manage" button, which allegedly is how I initiate the download, but no joy yet if I push the button, it takes me to a mostly black screen.  Maybe it populates later?  *shrug*
