BO3 Beta Netduma Reports

Dear Diary -

Day 2, but hope springs as I logged in this morning and noticed a software upgrade (1.14.40.5) had hit the Beta (1.14.40.4e), which makes the third update I have seen since first getting my demo loaded.  Let's see how it plays....

*an hour, some blue language, and a trip to the backyard to play with the dogs so I don't have a god damn heart attack*

Okay, the Seattle dedi has moments, and when it does this game plays AMAZING!   Granted, I have only played on that and the midwest dedi since Tuesday night, so the drought was real!

I had a dream lobby this morning, where no one was going ham and it was all good gunfights and smart plays and it was awesome.  Several people were in the lobby all saying the same basic things, "Yes!"," that was fun" and "good game" - in a CoD lobby?  The fuck?!?!   The game was really a lot of fun and it was running great.  If it plays like that on LAN, this is going to be a great game to watch really talented types play and gives me great hope for local, P2P hosts someday soon.

We lost one person from that lobby on both sides and the next game was almost as good, a bit spotty and the other team ran away with it, but it still seemed fair.  I didn't want to leave that lobby, no matter what, so I rode it out.

For about 30 minutes I had good games and the thing ran really smooth.  A few bullshit deaths, but definitely tolerable for me.  And then it just all went to shit, everything went downhill and the game ended freezing, so I had to reboot everything.

About to log back in and see if it's the same old shit since Tuesday night, or if the new patch has actually made any difference.

I have played the Black Ops 3 beta some minutes ago and the connection was fine.

My R1 connected me to the dedicated server in Amsterdam and I have had a ping of 30ms.

The game felt great even if some players seem to "teleport" all around the map.

But the most important matter: I have had a great hit detection.  :)

But... Did someone get the feeling that the graphics in this game actually look worse than Black Ops 2 on XBOX 360?

I mean... dull textures, blurry edges and all sort of things we were used to in really (and I mean really   :) ) old titles

of Call Of Duty ? The graphics remind me of Call Of Duty 4, at least somehow.

I don't know... Maybe it is me today just because I have had a hard day at work.  :)

By the way, this should not be considered to be a rant. If you like this game, then it is OK.

@Dillinger:

Hate to say it, buddy, but we're getting old. Seriously.

I'm looking forward to Rainbow Six: Siege

First, it's not old, it's a lot of condensed experience in a slightly used container.  ;)

I am watching that as well.  I think I will definitely be giving that a good run as well.  I used to love playing Rainbow variants on PC back "in the day", so I hope this new one brings back the good old days.

Well, more (bad) news from the PC world of CoD...

The hackers have already started to flood the BO3 beta. Constant Vision Pulse, constant UAV, no flinching, etc. So, it's obvious this game is DOA before it even releases the finished version.

Treyarch has said they have TAC (Targax Anti-Cheat), but let's be real. It ain't gonna stop dem' fools, unfortunately.

I knew this going in, but like I keep saying, this is why I buy these games for Private Matches with friends. Screw online gaming... Especially, on the PC which has had cheaters since the original days of Quake MP.

It looks way better on PS4 imo.

So that was what I was experiencing. I thought it was just the game bugging out.

Here's the footage of me trying to shoot down the UAV at the beginning of the game but it refuses to get destroyed for some reason.

I'm finding the connection terrible, opponents seem to be way ahead of me and I can't win any gunfights, but this what beta's are for so hopefully the full game will be better.

sounds like my AW experience on the dedis

What a bummer!  I have been totally frustrated with today's experience:

  • Constant freezing of the game - I had to go load another game or shutdown and reboot to get the game working again.
  • Got several messages that I lost the connection
  • Last time message said servers were undergoing maintenance "try again later".
  • Lag was terrible even with my R1 working.
  • The Geo was set for 500 miles but it kept connecting me to a "dedi" server in Seatle (2,300 miles away) yest it is on "strict"
  • I notice that when the game summary comes up several players stats are dropped but if you go into the game summary they are all there.
  • The second tier perks drop off or don't work.
  • My class setup keeps changing back to before I added things
  • My paint job that I slapped together was on for one round and then no more
  • The list goes on....

This had better get better or they have a dead horse that will not make it to the starting line!

DB

PS No I am not angry or bitter just disappointed.

Played most of the evening and just finished now, they have done something it has been spot on feels like i was on good dedi's.

Everyone close to my location on a 4 bar.

Where as this morning it was crappy with 2 bar people etc. i backout out a few time to make sure it was no a fluke and it was not, great connection for 6 or more hours.

Yes bring back toughness or make us all not flinch so much.

It's not that toughness should be in the game. If it has to be applied, it must be applied to all players and not as a perk.

The reason is simple. If toughness is a perk, it will surely end up as a crutch perk. In order to win more gun fights, everyone will have to run it. And that is not Treyarch's intention.

Anyway, I've been playing the game but even if I get shot, I don't find the flinching to be as bad as the previous CODs. It is actually quite manageable.

And who knows.. Maybe that last Specialist will have some sort of ability when activated will be very focus that you will not flinch?

At least that way, other specialist abilities will still look enticing.

Dear Diary -

Day 2.75, but hope springs as I logged in this morning and noticed a software upgrade (1.14.40.5) had hit the Beta (1.14.40.4e),

Current update is 1.14.45.5

Took a couple of hours off for dinner and home time with the wife, came back and had to update the system.  Haven't seen any new guns or maps yet, but have only played one game "in progress" and noticed the update, so I thought I would post and update this thread.

So unfortunate. This game has such a potential to be just grate. But those connections......

If you think about it thats the main thing if this game can provide consistent connection. as thats what is the spine of MP twitch shooter. You can have all of this grate  stuff packed in to the game etc. yet if you dont deliver a solid ground to it it wont work. sort of speak.

Now this game had been in development for 3 years so lest say 2 and 10+ of development. On the top of that 3arc ist a studio that had developed 2 COD titles on 2 years dev cycle each which gave them 4 years of experience in COD world plus those its totall of 6 and 10 months. Looking at the bigger picture its not acceptable that beat connections are so unstable these should be up and running like a butter by now and by the time they actually are in this business.

Again i dont think that will get any better in terms of consistency. 2 months its to late to work on the spine of the game( main factor at lest ).

If you ask me beta schould be there to tweka wepons sepcialst map exploits etc but not the funcionalty of network inflastucture of the game. Not after almost 7 years of COD creation.

Last night I loved the game, so when it plays smooth it is great for me.

The smoothing effect that they employed after MW2 seems to of been taken out which I prefer at lest you can tell when the match is laggy and back out rather than a match full of wtf's becuase the hitboxes are a mile out.

I've been playing the PC Beta almost exclusively, now.

I am going to delete the XB1 version because it's unplayable, ironically, in terms of connections (with the Netduma on).

Two factors that may be the difference is the PC is not limited to 60fps AND I am using an Intel i7 processor whereas the

XB1 and PS4 are less powerful AMD processors which have lower I/O than Intel?

So, in other words, "more is better" as far as performance of the beta goes regardless, of connection quality because the

hardware can make up for, or "smooth out" those connections, perhaps?

Treyarch also said they got rid of frame rounding, but that doesn't mean the Q3 engine doesn't still think in frames. So, having a higher

frame rate than 60fps is going to benefit players on PC.

Have you seen LevelCaps vid? He said that the frame drops effect the mouse usage.

The mouse acceleration... Even if you turn it off in the mp_config... is terrible.

Thus, why I use my XB1 wired controller on my gaming PC.

CoD is a console game, now, right or wrong. This includes the input. I know M&KB players love to brag how they destroy controller users, but it's verified false by me and a few others on here like Procreate. I had a game where I went 24/4. That's a 6.00 K/D ratio! The mouse input may explain why I am beating KB&M users in the beta, but even in finished games that have native XB controller support... like AW on the PC... I still come out on top, too. The PC players love to say using a controller is like using an aim-bot, but we all know this is categorically false as well. I even turn off the aim-assist in some games and still do better than M&KB users, so that debunks that theory controller users are at a disadvantage playing against M&KB players.

I use M&KB for games that require fine adjustments to recoil and long distance shots like in CSGO, or realism shooters like ARMA, Rainbow Six, etc.

New update was waiting for me this morning (1.15.46.5) and it's been shit since I signed on.  Every lobby is worse than the last one, and I haven't finished a game yet because of the bullshit.  Every game is on the Seattle Dedi and that shit is has the biggest blackhole for my bullets that I can find.  Even the server in Kansas City (70ms ping) seems to have better hit registration than this Seattle bank.

I've decided to order a BBC for the PS4.  The BBC has been fantastic and I love using it, but everything seems to be pointing to Playstation being the way to play this game.  Everyone that has played both Beta's agree that the PS variant has played better, was more enjoyable, and had less sweaty players.  I don't know who to believe, so fuck it, I am going to test it myself come November.

I do like the game, but if XB1 and the Seattle Dedi is my only option, I wouldn't be playing this version and just stick with the XB360 P2P.
