BO3 Beta Netduma Reports

Recommended Posts

so, i finally got involved late saturday night when they rolled it out to everyone, i had up to that point tried 5 codes from trusted sources without success and was starting to think vahn had me blacklisted lol.

being as i'd already read lots of stuff complaining about connections and imbalance i am literally blown away by the this beta. my experience so far has been very satisfying,i've nothing bad to report connection wise and i've been playing with the geo off!

the sound effects and musical score are nothing short of spectacular imo, the bass is strong in this one!

i love the movement system and found it very easy to adjust to, it feels more fluid to me than aw's faster jerkier exo movement.

i used to run mainly with an lmg in bo2 so imagine my surprise when i realised there was little or no movement penalty when using an lmg, i concur that things may change before the game is released but fingers crossed lol. at the moment it seems like you can run about and snipe with the default lmg no problem at all with the right attachments.

can't wait till the mrs buggers off out later so i can try a few more things out.

quote me happy, looking forward to nov 6 ,and a lot less cynical than i was a few days ago.

Haven't used them. But are you ready for it on Wednesday? I can't wait and hope it is just as fun on the Xbone!

Definitely!  I have a two day work week and then Wednesday night about midnight I am setting a soft alarm to get up and make sure it's downloading.  Wednesday morning it's on!  We partying up?

Best thing about the bo3 game is that I have a 2.4 k/d for the week in AW. BO3 is okay but a coming off of AW it feels like it takes less skill. I am undecided if I like BO3. The jumping still feels cartoonish and awkward.

I think this may be due to the fact there is no "Hardened" perk which means whoever sees whoever first really does win the gun fight because of the increased flinching you do if you don't get the first shot off?

The biggest difference I noticed between AW and BO3 is map flow and power positioning is back which means knowing the map and all the potential camping spots is what often can mean the difference between life and death. Especially with the wonky hit detection. In AW, there is no map flow or positioning, so it's just shoot on site versus knowing where and where not to go, etc.

AW takes skill?

Skill-Based Matchmaking will try its best to find people of your level. So you won't really know the meaning of the word 'skill' until you are actually matched with different kinds of players online instead of those of your skill level only. You can have 0 skills but you still won't know your skill level since you are constantly playing with people who have 0 skills too.

But... if you think you have the skill and want to be matched with people of your skill, then there's the Arena Mode (aka League Play in BO2) for you.

In theory, if you are matched with people of your skill, you should get a 1.0 k/d. If you get any higher, they will match you with people of higher skills too. Thus, it keeps on getting sweatier and sweatier.
But if you still have a higher than 1.0 k/d and you keep on getting good games, then there's 2 scenarios left.

1) You really are the most skilled player out there.
2) Your Netduma's geo-filter prevented you from encountering the more skilled players outside of your 'safe' region. But you can still be proud of yourself for being the best player in a 283KM radius in the neighbourhood.

PS. Hope you can laugh off my statement as I'm kind of in a joking sort of mood right now cos I'm a bit sleepy but am trying to play as much as I can since the beta is ending in like 1 hour and 16 minutes time.

Oh, my God. I have to share this with you all:

I received a voice message on PSN from some kid who said, and I quote...

"Dude, why don't you get the fuck off for 1:16 seconds and let everybody else score some kills on your negative ass!"

WTF???

I assume he is referring to "Safeguard" where I manged the highest escort score time (1:16) because the longer you stick with the robot, the higher your time becomes and so does your score. So, basically, this kid is pissed I PTFO! LMAO! I won because I didn't kill whore.

And it's true. I died more times than I got kills, but guess what? We won the game TWICE because I got the bot to the designated area when everybody else was playing TDM. I mean, literally. Nobody was escorting the robot, so what the fuck am I supposed to do?

You have to laugh at this shit (or quit playing online) because it's obviously from some hormone ravaged kid with zits all over his face (most likely) who has never really "lost" in his life thanks to "participation trophies" and helicopter parents.

However, this enforces the stereotype of the CoD Community being a bunch of immature punks. At least he didn't call me the N-Word, or Gay using the F-word - LMAO  :P

You did great.

That boy doesn't even belong in this M18 game. Thus I find his statement invalid.

That, and the fact that he has to play in other game modes like Safeguard and Domination to get his kills higher than his deaths goes to show how pathetic he is.

If he wants to brag about having a high K/D, how about actually playing on TDM where people are actually out to kill you too. Am I right?

Now that is something to be proud of.

I do wish they would just get rid of TDM. It's a horrible handfuls that brings out the worst in players. It's what they start on and then if they accidentally play an obj game they don't know what to do. To this day I have a friend who I got into play CoD who w/o t play anything but TDM. Drives me crazy.

It's not like the numbers arent dwindling already. I guess nobody has mentioned but I'm sure they have noticed there is no leaderboards again nor is there a player count. I'm sure they are preparing for the worst this release.

What is "funny" is there are no player counts, but there are player percentages e.g...

41% players in TDM

40% players in DOM

Etc.,

Etc.

You have to love the double-speak and downright lies Activision is going to to hide the fact CoD is dying.

I'm seriously thinking about switching to BF4 on both the PC and PS4. Especially when you get comments from non-CoD players who immediately see how bad the connections are. Hmm...

Get rid of the most played game mode with 46% of the player base in it? That is like losing almost half the player base.
This beta is meant to test the game's code and online experience. So there is no need to keep nor show a record of the player's ranking.
And like JConnor has mentioned, yes, COD may either be dying or they are trying to simplify it for the players by changing the player count to percentages. It could even be both.
All I know is that this game rewards players for being good and my stats these past few days are in-line with my previous COD stats again. Something that AW tarnished with it's desire to feed SBMM down our throats.

Here's the picture of the percentage displayed on the top right area of the Playlist.

thats true, aim assist is ridiculously strong in BO3 and that heavily plays into the favour of controller-players

with a mouse and keyboard emulator you are almost on a disadvantage, mouse movement are by nature a lot different to analog-stick movements as a mouse produces unlinear, jittery movements with inconsistent velocity

analog-sticks are very straight, almost jitter free and of constant velocity

the aim assist is only taking note of these typical analog-stick movements, hence with a mouse you have far far less aim assist than with the controller as its movement-output is a lot different

most people think that when playing with a mouse adapter on console you get 100% the same aim assist as with analog-sticks, thats totally not true, you only have a fraction of it

I had my son, nephew and his friend playing on my account for the beta. I rarely got on Saturday and Sunday.  The gun battles were real struggles for all of us. They all play with different controller settings (i.e. inversion, default, tactical, flipped).  I finally got to play Sunday afternoon.  Setting up my controller, I realized that aim assist was disabled.  I don't know how long it was disabled.  Once I turned it on, I started winning A LOT more gun battles.  It definitely helped in the beta.

So collectively it appears that more were turned off of this year's offering than those that were swayed to go ahead with purchase.  That's quite interesting when you compare it to the views going in to the Beta.

Well, XB1 starts tonight/tomorrow, so we will see what that brings.

Nice.  I got the digital copy this time around, Faith or misguided trust in Von I suppose, so I intended to set a soft alarm for Midnight. :P  Gonna get up, get some milk from the fridge and make sure shit is downloading like it should.

"What?  Like you can do something about it if it isn't?"

Good point..... I can't really do shit about it if it doesn't download, but at least I won't wake up tomorrow morning with grandiose BO3 day plans....LOL

If the download doesn't start no you cannot do anything about it but if it does start it may not download at an optimal level.

When I got my code I think the download started at something like 16 hours to download, with a couple of pauses and resumes I got this down to 1 hour 11 minutes I think. :)

Not sure if its different on xbox

For all the Xbox and PC gamers, here are my comments and tips for BO3.

Weapons:

ARK-7:  This ended up being a good gun for me once I ranked it up.  I typically ran this with extended mag, rapid fire and suppressor.  It will do well in medium distances.  You may have to feather the trigger for longer distances.

SMGs:  Most people like the Razorback.  In close quarters I found that I was often being killed by the Kuda with suppressor.

MSA7:  I really liked this weapon for medium to long ranges.  It is almost a laser.   For some reason (coding?), I struggled to get kills at short distances with this.  I liked running reflex, rapid fire and extended mags with it.  I tried it with a suppressor with mixed results.

Shevia:  Great gun if you have great aim.  I recommend high caliber for one shot kills to the head.

LMGs:  Most of my friends preferred the BMR, but the dingo was also good.

Pistols:  The pistols are very good in close.

Perks:  Ghost once you can unlock it.  If you get care packages, you will need Engineer to roll the care package to something else. Sixth Sense is good, but it will only alert you when an enemy is VERY CLOSE.

Mini Map:  The enemies are actually closer than they seem on the mini map.

Specialties:  Because Ghost will not be unlocked until later in the beta time frame (i.e. 2nd or 3rd day), I highly recommend the Blackcell launcher to shoot down the UAVs, Counter UAVs, etc.  You get points for them too.  I always do this for my time.  Playing Domination, I once shot down over 50 UAVs, counters, etc. in one game (over 3500 points).

Scorestreaks:  RASPs are awesome.  Mothership is good but there are other streaks at lower levels more worthy.  HATR is awesome.  Talon is very fun when manually controlled (unlimited amo and continuous fire).  Hellstorm once you learn to use it effectively is really good too.

Specialists:  Find the one that you like.  Mini Gun is very fun.  I liked Vision Pulse for capping flags and knowing where they are.  Psychosis is a lot of fun to distract.  We had our entire time run it for one game.  On the 2nd round, we all launched it on the B flag and there were 24 players and bots showing on the map.  It was too funny.  If you snipe or play from a distance, rejack is good.  Watch for the green cloud when you kill someone.

I'm going to run home at lunch just to see if it is ready or any messages!

Honestly I didn't have faith in Vondy but BO3 was fun. BO1 and 2 were fun but the shoddy lag and shoot first and die first killed it for me. No love for Treyarch. I think they know that now and I feel they may have redeemed themselves!

Monday kind of lagged bad for me but they can fix that. The Black Hat needs to be nerfed and the Supers ability to take out your kill streaks too. As for the QS hopefully it wasn't a buff on Monday but just a test or imagination.

In other news I went back to AW this morning and felt depressed: BO3 Beta withdrawal?!?
