Lag Compensation counter-measures using simjc74's glorious combo technique

Man, this has fallen into a delicate area that COULD have escalated, I appreciate everyone keeping it civil and respectful.  A sign of quality members of this forum, so *respect*

I see both sides of the discussion here.  I have been a champion for a Regional Playlist for awhile.  That is the reason I bought a [Duma] in the first place.  I want to play LOCALLY.  If I wanted to play with people from around the world and see "who is the best", I'd play competitive.  But for the casual player, which I do consider myself, should we really have to play with people half a continent away?

Bagsta has a point in his view, and I can see his logic.  If we have "an advantage" in knowing the difference and having the ability to change our set ups, should we really do it?  As a good steward of the community, I agree.  Then again, are we supposed to champion the cause of keeping it even, when we can't rely on the parent company to dedicate any resources to the issue?

Marvin has an excellent point also.  He is one host, one player, in a pool that can be avoided.  He is no different, in this situation, than me connecting to a lobby without a [Duma] and getting players or player hosts, in South America when I live near Seattle in the US.  So really the average person that played him would chalk it up to his internet connection and if they are upset about it, they will file to avoid him.  Unless you live down the street, playing the same title, at the same time, he would be a minor inconvenience.

What do you guys think?

I think we are all looking at this wrong. If the game was made properly then we wouldn't have to spend our hard earned money on special routers to jump through hoops just to get the game to perform how it should to begin with. Now with that said, the R1 was the best investment I've made in gaming right next to my gaming monitor and buying a PS4 recently because my Xbox One sucks :P

Simply put, we need to voice our opinions to the developers to fix the built in random lag nonsense, as well as make a proper match making system that matches by PING and nothing else... AND we need to educate our fellow gamers who don't see how poorly done the dedicated servers are and let everyone know that P2P hosting is better than the crap they are giving us now as "dedicated". Because I still see people arguing on forums, reddit, and youtube that servers are or aren't there.

As far as keeping it fair, I've been playing Rocket League almost every night and that game has one of the highest skill gaps I have ever played. It's easy to play but hard to master which is great! But it lets skill define your wins and losses rather than random lag and dumping a half a clip into someone and getting no hits only for them to turn and instakill you with a pistol. I play doubles and my friend and I literally have taken huge steaming dumps on people outscoring them 10-0 in a 5 minute match only for them to ready up and try again and again and again. If you make the game fun, then people will play it. I've learned on Rocket League even when I'm getting my ass whooped I still am having fun, and say "just one more game" like I used to do back on COD2,4 and MW2.

What I've been doin lately is before I fire up a game I set both sliders to 1%......once I'm in I put them back to 70%70%

This ^^ is a good idea. I'll definitely try it when I get home.

bagsta69, in general I agree with you, we should consider others and not just trample over them because they are not as fortunate as others.

However ...

When one starts to pay my bills (internet provider or whomever), then one can state how my usage should be and rather if I'm being selfish or not.

It's kinda like our wonderful president in the US who states we can not run our AC units at 72 degrees ... forget him and his socialist ways, I pay my damn bills and DO NOT LIVE OFF THE GOVERNMENT and will use as I see fit for me and my family, I work hard to provide them.

The problem is, people who pay for a decent connection are being penalized and handicapped because of others who cannot, regardless of the reason.

While I understand ones position as to, cannot get or afford decent connectivity, that does not justify that others who pay and can get connectivity should be penalized.

Again, I apologize for being so blunt and cold sounding, but I as others, work very hard to provide for our families and should not be penalized for that hard work.

Sorry, this is just a sensitive subject for me.

He obviously thinks he knows it all, and in reality he doesn't know any f**king thing! The part that gets me mad the most is that this prick has to feel that he's right or else the world would come to an end.

I tried everything you can by changing sliders, bandwidth,MTU etc... and what I have found is it makes no difference on a consistent basis IMO.But again everyone's milage may vary,it's way to random with to many variables to call anything"consistent" in this game.I went 58/9 with 13 caps in dom one game and the next game the other team dropped 2 DNA's on us,in the same game.Do you know how hard that is to do,2 of them in one game. That game i went 9/27,so like I said way to many variables.

No the world is not coming to an end.

And I am old enough to know that I do not know everything, so I must concede, I do not know it all.

As far as not knowing a Fing thing, umm ... that's not a fair assertion either ...

I do know one thing, I PAY MY BILLS AND WILL USE AS I SEE FIT nor will I be made to feel guilty because I can pay and do as I see fit. If this is the only thing I know, I'm good with it.  ;)

I wounder if maybe its better for your router and network to be able to process the packets when you throttle your bandwidth. I see a lot of people who start or have lower upload value have better game play than people with higher upload values. could be my imagination but ever since I went up on my service, my game play has suffered. when i had crap service (Not really Crapy) my internet responded better. just throwing it out there.

I second what your are saying AOrtiz.  I originally had 105/20 from comcast and my internet diagnosis result were awful. I decided I did not really need that bandwidth and lowered it to 50/10 which is plenty for me as well and I am exceptional all over the place.

I wounder if i adjust my r1 to be lower. like you 50/10 25/5 how it would play. i really don't want to throttle, just get a sweat spot to play consistently.

Instead of paying for the Ultimate Package 150 down and 20 up you get better quality with a lower tier and bandwidth package?

Like I said I can't explain it. I would get pings averaging around 20 with my previous bandwidth and that was common for me. But now I'm at pings of around 9. I am with Comcast so I get that blast crap too so even though I pay for 50/10 I get around 85/12. I am not recommending this for anyone else to try. I am just giving you my experience.
