R1 DumaOS Briefly Delayed

Don't be sad guys. I own a RX500 and i had much better gameplays using my old R1. At least on COD titles. Something is not working as it should be with the DUMAOS. I own the RX500 now for about 3 weeks and i can't figure out good settings. On R1 that wasn't the problem

this is the biggest bs i have ever read. i was waiting for the update for a very Long time and get another knife in the back. Looks like netgear sellings not looking well so far. why dont you just give us the update now like promised and later the update for the backwards compatibility? and who the hell wants that? i was looking Forward to the new Software in hope that the cracky WIFI and all the Bugs get fixed. Im really dissapointed

And you are a business owner / lawyer?!?

Actually ive been dealing with tech companies for 20 years and the reasoning behind this delay is mind numbing. If you choose to side with them go right ahead and be the nitwit. Im a 6.0 220 pound correction officer who is also an avid gamer who knows when and when i have not been duped, i have more experience with common sense in my pinkie than you have in your melon. Ive dealt with tons of people over the last decade and this is shade at its best. And its not about crying its about them not giving us what we deserved

And for the record i owned the nighthawk for a week and was forced to return it. Without the ping assist for me it was useless that was 2 months ago and i was told then the ping assist would be dded soon, lol as soon as i heard that i returned it and went back to the R1. Whether or not ping assist has been added yet is beyond me. This is about money, they expect us to go out and buy another $300 router for better wifi and hardware, i did just that and got screwed. The only way im buying the nighthawk is if netduma allows me to return my current router and credits me half of what i paid. False advertisement at its best

I totally get everyone’s frustrations over the delay, I was as excited for DumaOS as everyone else but I bet the Netduma team are as equally frustrated as the rest of us.

In my opinion the backwards compatibility will be a good thing, it gives people the option to find what works best for their particular setup. Some will prefer DumaOS and others will prefer the R1 in the same way people already prefer the XR500 over the current R1 OS and vice-versa. That choice can only be a good thing.

Hi Duma Army,

We need to announce that the free upgrade of our new software, DumaOS, for the Netduma R1 will need to be briefly delayed due to unexpected requirement from our Legal Team. Our lawyers have advised that DumaOS on the R1 must be backwards compatible.

In other words, if you install DumaOS onto the R1 you should always have the option to reinstall the older R1 firmware if you prefer to go back. We had not designed the DumaOS integration with the R1 to allow for this as DumaOS is superior. But based on legal advice we now must redo the integration to allow for this. It should take, at absolute most, a few more weeks. Nothing more as we have everything else working.

We realise you have been waiting patiently for this upgrade and this last-minute delay is frustrating. Our entire development team is working flat out to get this last bit fixed as soon as possible as we really want you all on DumaOS.

For what it's worth, we're as frustrated as you are as we can't wait to start making lots of new R-Apps (features) for you all.

We will get this last piece done as soon as possible and then it will be full steam ahead in delivering an explosion of new DumaOS features for you all.

Thank you for your continued support.

The ND Team

I find this a bit depressing.  There is no way that you guys found out about this yesterday or when the clock struck midnight.  I am sure you and the company were aware at least a few days if not longer and kept it quiet.  Why not announce the delay as soon as you were aware of it?  It is not the end of the world to wait a few more weeks but delay itself is cryptic and might not be true.  There is a pattern that is emerging and I just don't see it being a good thing.  Fingers crossed that it doesn't take longer than what you have speculated.  Good luck.

I just hope gamer's and your customers in general don't start seeing NetDuma like they do EA and the way Battlefront 2 was shunned.

Thank You

You can't just keep giving them passes and not have any accountability.  If anything there should have been a much earlier announcement of the delay.  I would have preferred that than to wake up in the am try to find the update just to learn that the thing is delayed.

Like the beta in 2017 which never happened!

The beta did happen it just happened to be closed to 99% of the testers and then the public beta I think got lost in translation.  I am not sure what NetDuma thinks a PUBLIC beta of DUMA OS is.....

yea that is odd the day before it releases, this is very disappointing. I've was hoping to have this update because we all have been waiting for this update for a while and to hear this bad news makes me believe we will never get this update and kinda be forced to buy the netgear since its the main focus now. I hope thats not the case because i will be done because im not going to drop 300 on a new router after spending 200 for the r1 thats dead.

If this R1 update does not work out I would not use their new router even if it was free.

duma os was planned to be released in 2016.

imagine a customer wasnt enough impressed with the current software (1.x) to buy the r1, but saw ads from netduma about duma os coming fall 2016 and bought the r1 because duma os convinced him and netduma said it will come fall 2016. what do you want to tell that guy? how can you still defend netduma?

just look at the DumaOS twitter account, its wrong advertising at its best!

Thanks for keeping us informed. It was looking so close and we were all getting excited, but last minute little surprises always adds a little fun to the mix. Eventhough DumaOS brings new goodies to the table, I also think having the backwards compatibility and being able to roll back to the current firmware will also be appreciated by end users.

Sim

I love your videos Sim but you already have their new router with DumaOS.  Your wait is over for the DumaOS.  For the rest of us or for me at least this delay does not add any fun to the mix.  2016 it was supposed to be released it never did, 2017 was supposed to have public Beta of the DumaOS it never happened.  April 17th 2018 the day its suppose to release its delayed because they didn't talk  to their lawyers ahead of time....I don't buy it.  I respect where you stand on this but your quick defense of them and lack of accountability for the company is disheartening.

You might be right in this. Cause some ppl say the R1 was better for them. So adding this feature I guess is necessary. Idk. I like the duma but want the better software, but don't want my gameplay to suffer because of it.

Thanks Sim

Weeks at most

No problem. We did actually ask legal this but they advised it's better to just have the backwards compatibility

Thanks Alex!

Weeks at most is not a definite.  It does not even come out as an educated guess its just a guess that was pulled out of thin air.  I don't believe that you guys learned this when the clock struck midnight.  It is a real shame that you bought time and waited till the last second to announce the delay.

That was only handful of people mostly Netduma employees and mods. I would like to know if there were testers from the broad public.

I also think it’s terrible that Netduma admins aren’t even in here commenting trying to calm the situation just shows where it’s come to

Large increase of R1 routers for sale on eBay lol

Alot of people bought the router just for the new software
