XSXS got a reaction from crunkjuice1 in Xr 1000 update
If you need to ppoe or vlan tagging, I would send it back. They are not able to get qos to work in over 2 years and I doubt that is going to change.

XSXS reacted to Netduma Liam in Port prioritizing
The former: Source 1-65535 and Dest 1024 - 65535
Generally you can always leave source as 1-65535, then just set Dest to the ports you want to prioritise.

XSXS got a reaction from tduma in Xr 1000 update
Hate to be negative here but I would be shocked if the sliders QOS will ever work with ppoe or ipv6.
Google it, even since the OG netduma came out they had issues with it not working with ppoe or ipv6.
I have a ppoe connection as well but I kind of gave up hope on it ever working. There are plus two year old posts about this with it supposed to being fixed soon but here we are 2 years later.

XSXS reacted to Netduma Fraser in Frequent disconnections since switching to Fios
I suspect the DHCP lease renewing could be causing the disconnections so setting a static/reserved IP would resolve that. You could set it within the range absolutely and it should be fine, however, a similar issue on the XR500 happens where the lease renewing still affects the reserved IPs. In which case setting them outside the range prevents DHCP trying/failing to renew them. In some cases in still even occurs when doing this and disabling DHCP completely and using reserved IPs exclusively for all devices resolves it. It's an issue NG are aware of.
So in this instance I suggested the second stage of the workaround as that works for most people.

XSXS reacted to Netduma Fraser in no good servers
So basically, the CoD servers don't respond to typical pings, they also change the servers/IPs that they use quite frequently so when they change we can no longer ping the old ones with our ping workaround so then we need to re-check and update to show the current servers/IPs. It won't affect the Geo-Filter because it sees all available connections when you launch the game so you can still join any you like.

XSXS reacted to Newfoundland in SQM?
To be fair to Bert I’ve seen some really awful fibre connections in the US where base pings were really poor. That boils down to the isp and that maybe why some try to source a way of finding a better connection but of course you can’t really sort out issues when the connection is poor to start with but if it helps to some extent that’s good news.
If you post a vid it would be great showing the ER4 SQM. Always nice to compare when you have time to do so.

XSXS got a reaction from Newfoundland in SQM?
Newfie
When i had my er4 connected i was able to get the same bandwidth (over 900M) with SQM enabled or disabled.
Bert,
Yeah would think so wouldn't you? I mean 1gig bandwidth and you shouldn't have any problems, but that's not the case.
For the past few years i have had enough bandwidth that i shouldn't have to worry about qos. However all my testing shows other wise, better buffer bloat rating, more stable ping using ping plotter even with no congestion and more importantly better game connections.
For example i can turn off SQM on the ER4 and immediately do worse in COD. My KDR decreases over time. I enable SQM and immediately do better and my KDR goes up. I have tried this test several times with the same result and over several games.
Also happens with my r7000, and 7800 when i used them.
I have yet to try this with The xr1000 since qos doesn't work yet with vlan tagging.
I believe with the net coding in modern online gaming, faster is not better but a consistent ping is.
I think a lot of knowledgeable networking guys think the same as you thinking high bandwidth don't need qos but from my experience it does for gaming.

XSXS reacted to Newfoundland in SQM?
I think Netduma quote around the 350 mark that above does not require QoS depending on the network, Unifi quote 300, in fact they have it set on by default at 300 or below on the UDM range so you need to disable it if you don’t wish to use it.
my rather low 57DL and 11UL benefits from it which is what it should be doing if it works correctly.

XSXS got a reaction from Newfoundland in SQM?
I have an ER4, the SQM works very well. It has alot of tweaks most i am unfamiliar with and not much detail information on line that I could find.
I am thinking on making it my main router again and is the xr1000 as an AP.

XSXS reacted to DumaGuy2021 in Share Your Netduma Settings For MW/CW/WZ
I think he is talking about the reset distribution in the bandwidth allocation tab. Simjc said something about pressing reset as well. Also if you want to try this method out, reset distribution for upload and also click reset distribution for the download as well, as the settings are completely separate from another.

XSXS reacted to Zennon in Ping Plotter Quick Guide
Fraser has asked me to post a guide for PingPlotter, I will keep it simple like myself, here goes..
Download PingPlotter Here
Type a close IP to your region I usually use twitter.com or .co.uk but as i write this both were connecting to the US as I am in the UK I have set the ping plot to bbc.co.uk.
Typing bbc.co.uk into the target address bar leaving the interval at 2.5 then pressing enter on your keyboard or the go button.
A congested line looks like this.
You can see the ping in real time, the ping numbers are listed to the left of the plot.
I achieved this by setting my congestion control sliders to 100% each so that the duma was not helping with local congestion thus saturating the line.
If you have a ISP issue from say a Intel PUMA 6 based CPU in a modem or ISP congestion an BT line fault (US/World infrastructure alternative) or even a faulty Ethernet cable, RJ11 or faulty Master socket face plate your line may look like this even when you set your sliders lower.
This is a line idle with minimal traffic being used that does not use a PUMA 6 based chipset or have any network issues.
This is a line downloading a full width saturating the line but using the duma congestion control at 70% each way
If you would like to post a bad result to the forum or save a plot to prove to your ISP there is an issue after ruling out your own network then press File and click on save image and this will give you an image of the GUI at that moment for you.

I respect your decision. But from a testing standpoint, the SB8200 *might* be one of the best gaming modems ever made. I stress *might*..
-
XSXS reacted to xymox in Best Gaming Modems [Opinions]
Intel Puma based devices are currently crap. They *might* be fixable. However thats looking pretty doubtful. Would I personally EVER use them for gaming - hellz no..
I do, respectfully, disagree with some of the modems listed on this site as bad however. But. I defer to someone who has direct testing experience with the device being used, the Netduma. So I am staying neutral. This is a list of known good modems, tested and supported with the Netduma. Im great with that approach. However I think the list could well expand to include Arris devices Like the SB8200. The SB8200 has the lowest latency ive ever tested and the lowest jitter. However, I suppose there might be some weirdness with the Netduma and the modem. However I use Mikrotik CCR1036 so I use RouterOS and it works awesome with the SB8200.

Or maybe you prefer to look at a mode modern modem test... Here is a SB8200. TCP. at 0.1 for 12 hours... Not a spike in sight.

LOL... Wow.. Your not the brightest bulb in the shed.. You know right im guy who forced Intel to admit there are still issues right, developing tests with pingplotter no one had done before ? You know im the guy quoted in press on this issue right https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/03/intel_puma_chipset_firmware_fix/Im the guy in the class action lawsuit who did the tests, you know that right ? http://badmodems.com/Files/arriscomplaint.pdf
You know Intel has OFFICIALLY acknowledged there is still a issue with Puma 5/6/7 right https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31122204-SB6190-Puma6-TCP-UDP-Network-Latency-Issue-Discussion~start=5788
Im not sure you could find anyone on the internet more versed on this issue besides me. WELL,, Its been a team effort of course with a core set of people on DSLR.
And NOOOO to answer your question, ONLY Intel modems have issues with .3.. I do all my testing at 0.05. 100 pings a second is a good temporal resolution. I have chart after chart showing modems going back 15 years that do this just fine..
Here im doing a direct A/B with a 14 YEAR OLD DOCSIS 2 modem at 0.1 THREE TIMES FASTER THEN .3. I swap modems in the middle of the graph.

THE_DEAD_POOL, on 20 Jul 2017 - 06:13 AM, said:
I came across a Netgear CM600 for $60. It is 24x8 which would also work if your ISP supports it. So far I have not noticed much of a difference in performance between the CM600 and the TP-Link TC-7610 compatibility wise with the Netduma R1. Modem Levels, Speeds, gameplay, Netduma Features, Bufferbloat, Puma 6 test, Jitter, and Pings are pretty much identical between the two. The main difference is with the CM600, I can consistently lock in to channels in the 800hz frequency range. The TP-Link seemed to have a hard time getting out of the 900hz range. The CM600 is a bit of overkill for my current internet plan (150/10), but for the price I figured I would try it out. It is rated up to 960Mbps.
The CM600 also runs the Broadcom chipset. They usually run around $100, but I got lucky on craigs and found mine for $60."
I quoted another user dead pool for you

Hmm I am pretty sure everyone for the most part is doing that exact same thing, sharing their OWN experiences with modems they have used with the R1. No reason to lock this thread, it got heated there for awhile but has since calmed down except for some recent name calling.
It is bad when there other honest R1 owners trying to help out but since they are not part of the good ole boys club their opinion is quickly shunned and don't know what they are talking about.
At the end of the day even though the 7610 did not work out for me i still recommend it to other users. Because i am the minority and not ignorant of the fact something could have been a miss when i tested.
You have to realize if a potential buyer is considering buying the R1 and sees this thread stating only 5 modems work with it. They may not buy it, actually if i saw this that before i purchased mine, i never would have.
Also the fact some people don't have money to buy a new modem even if it is only $40.
I agree the puma modems are junk and would not ever buy one but lets try and help the users if they are stuck with one.
Right now I'm using the Motorola mb7220 with real good results but have yet to post any data because the good ole boy club would say i don't know what I'm talking about and that right there is sad. Especially since no one here knows my technical or gaming background.

He is not a troll or claims the 6183 is the best. You are the only person here saying one modem is the absolute best. All he is saying is that he uses the 6183 with good results, that's all. I don't know why you have a deal with any one stating that they are having good results using other modems with the R1.
I think we are all here trying to help fellow users, no one is a troll here. We are just disagreeing due are OWN experiences.

OK guys n gals, calm it. Please keep all replies and comments on topic and most of all civil, There is no need to get all up in the air about anything just because you disagree with another persons "opinion"any name calling pissing contests etc will be removed and relevant warnings handed out.
At the end of the day we are all gamers and just want the best gaming experience we can get.
Please feel free to share your tried and tested experiences of different routers and modems combo's etc but lets keep a lid on the ego's.
Peace out and happy hunting.

Hi All,
Please let me know what you think of these test results. Also let me know what I need to do if anything to make things better etc.
Test was done with Modem Arris SB6183 MODEM connected directly via Ethernet cable to PC. I have Coax cable going from wall into a splitter and from there i have coax going into modem, tv etc. All images have names hopefully it shows up in the forum correctly. I am sure most of you will know better than I what each test is, does and so on. I have images of my Downstream channels and upstream channels I can post that and I have images of my LOG from the MODEM. I can post all that as well as long as any of these postings do not create a security risk for me. I feel like something is going on be it with my ISP or Modem or Router. I have Netduma R1 router but for this test NO router was used I also have Nighthawk X6 (R8000) router.
SIDE NOTE: I did have speed tests but i accidentally deleted THEM! Speed tests particularly for upstream speed was fine but the dsl reports showed red graph and the red line in the middle extending up. I will provide that soon if necessary. I'm just looking for information, help and education on all this .
Thank you ALL!

I thought I was done replying to you in this thread but since you mentioned my tests, I will have to educate you again since talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. Here are the facts with my testing on the 7610.
I had an actual Cox tech come out and verify my lines prior to testing it. I was watching him and talking with him the whole time. Meaning my lines are good! My line quality is good enough to hand a -3.5dB splitter, so that argument is invalid for you. I only used the return path attentuator on the Cisco modem, never used it with the 7610. My upstream power levels with no attenuation was around 38-39 dbmv. The sweet spot for cox is 42-45. I pinged google.com which from my experience is more consistent in pings than google DNS 8.8.8.8. I use both Ipv4 and ipv6 so both those screen shots are showing how the 7610 pinged using both protocols. I also posted a screen shot of the 7610 modem levels which are perfectly acceptable even with a splitter installed. At least I informed everyone how exactly I tested the 7610. You have no data, dates, or how you tested each modem with the R1. Where is the ping plotter charts for all the other modems that don't work with the R1?
How long did you "painstakingly" test each modem?
It also sounds like deadpool is not having that great of luck with the 7610 anymore and he uses the same ISP as me. "must be the lines: even though other modems work?...

100% bandwidth no C.C. the package I pay for is 60mbps download.
Now with C.C. @ 70%/70% Now with C.C. @ 50%/50% Now with C.C. @ 25%/25% Do you noticed the bufferbloat grade? Oh and check out that ping. -

Your approved modem list a joke. Oh wow 5 modems are compatible by you? No real data just hearsay. At least there are users trying to get more on this so called approved list. Lol -
XSXS reacted to e38BimmerFN in Best Gaming Modems [Opinions]
What does breaking modems with a simple test have to do with anything. Seems like ur grabbing at straws now. You'd have to have access to the WAN IP. You say one thing then do nothing to back up. You just expect everyone to take your word for it at face value when there isn't any proof of that.
That's fine however remember TP-Link and Arris use Broadcom chips sets. Only Arris modem that doesn't is the 6190 and we all ready know that's a big problem and were all avoiding that one. The other Arris modems have already been tested and are not as effected as the 6190.
All the years I've been using Motorola and now the Arris 6183, Been nothing but solid modems. I'm sure TP-Link has good modems too. Again, Not all ISP support TP-LInk as some don't even support Arris. Again, the 6183 works just fine with the R1. Just play BO2 and BO3 tonite. Stellar game play as side a few others that could seem to keep it together.
I'm sure TP-Link modems are just fine. So are Arris modems. Why your overly biased and unwilling to let someone else say that Arris works for them with the R1 is beyond me when it does. Just another modem is all. Just a modem.
