R1 DumaOS Briefly Delayed

OMG, are there still some crying around here? Do you think that by continuing to cry and putting nonsense here they will solve something? or will they make DumaOs come out earlier?

Stop and touch the noses with your post nothing useful and the worst of all is that they are always the sad four ... always sadder life must have to spend the day in the forum posting shit. Not that their lives were out of a firmware ... make them look ...

what if dont even want dumaos? netduma actions would still be shit. people most talk about how they deal as a company and how they treat their customer. not all about crying that we still havent duma os. i think some have to understand that netduma is a company like every other not a group of 3 friends selling their early adopter edition router once a week.

they missed the original announced launch date by 2 years and still haven't given any kind of explanation, so dont expect anything more then being strung along until we all stop wanting want we were promised and in many cases actually paid for (anyone who purchased the R1 during the announced DumaOS period, expecting to be able to access it when promised).

exactly my point. they not only promised it, they advertised duma os

There's very little point in an Admin posting in here to say "no further update" when I've already said it.

Well obviously the hope is that someone who does know something would update the thread.  You're right, there's is zero value in a forum mod who doesn't know anything to post about the development cycle.

Maybe they could just post the flavor of the kool-aid they're drinking.

Of course I also want dumaos, but what would it do me to be repeating the same thing over and over again? If you go to bed thinking that you are going to touch the lottery and you repeat it every night, it's your turn? not right? Well this is the same.

Wow, you seem to be very upset. More in life then we people about DumaOS. Just my opinion. And even if you don't get it like it seems which is clearly to see then just let us cry. Your post was the most unproductive post in here. And we already know that they give a shit about all us crying which are legit community members/buyers. But that just gets their rep more down and down.

No Duma OS won't come out earlier but it's their fault, not our so we have all right to post somewhere and let our frustration and opinion out about it. And btw you are here as well posting and spending a time of your day here. I don't want to argue but you clearly made a fool out of yourself. Thank you.

I lost the hope that posting every day will fasten smt up for a long time. I myself posting to stay in touch and to voice my frustration (which doesn't interest ND in anyway so who cares at all). And also to give a place for ppl to see how ND is treating the community and making promises they don't fulfill and much more negative things. So that they can think twice before getting an R1 especially when they want DumaOS with it.

Hey Luke, Fraser or Iain,

As the release was only to be delayed by "a few more weeks at the absolute most", and it's been a few more weeks, could we please at least have some info on what's happening if the update itself isn't to be deployed yet?

Many thanks,

Every patiently waiting Netduma fanboy.

So your main assignment, what is it? discredit ND and make it have no customers? really? Come on, what you are is a fucking troll, right?

really, buy a bag of friends and go out to the street to give you a little air, your life is very painful

I have had the XR500 with DumaOS installed on it for quite a while now.

One thing I can say for sure is that my gameplay was much better with the old R1 compared to the XR500.

In regards of the bufferbloat issue the XR500 was definitely not as effective as the R1 is.

You can test it easily yourself if you own both devices by running a simple test at DSLReports.com.

Now you can argue that DSLReports is inaccurate and just the results of PingPlotter matter.

Most people - me included - use the trial version of PingPlotter. In the trial version you cannot

switch between different internet protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP etc...). I can just guess, but I believe

that most people are also using the trial version that lacks the option to switch between the protocols.

In the testing context it means that PingPlotter checks each hop by "pinging" it seperately while using the ICMP protocol.

Instead, DSLReports.com uses UDP for testing. And UDP is the protocol that most games, for e.g. Call Of Duty, use.

In my opinion DSLReports gives me more detailed information on what's going on behind the scene.

And that is the point where I can see the results of both devices compared to each other.

At the end of the day the R1 has better results than the XR500 for me.

Gaming felt even better with the R1 compared to the XR500.

That is the reason why I had demanded a refund at Amazon for my XR500.

I have sent my XR500 back to Amazon and have my money back.

Sadly true!

I wish I could report better, because I really like Netduma.

Maybe some time later I will buy another XR500 for testing. Maybe my device was faulty.

I can only be convinced into buying another XR500 if there is a big firmware update that fixes

all issues and adds Ping Assist (which it still lacks) as well and if it gets positive reviews by

independent sources.

Best regards,

KayOneX-24

We haven't locked it because it give everyone a place to comment.

If the thread is locked we'll get a whole bunch of new threads polluting the forum asking for an update. Then we have to moderate all of those instead.

Then, if we delete that plague of new threads, we'll get accused of 'violating free speech' and 'censorship' by people that have absolutely no understanding of 'freedom of speech' but they say it because they think it sounds clever.

You are greatly overestimating the non-existent community on these forums. The other threads have been locked before and there wasn't a "plague of new threads". Only Netduma staff can create threads in this section and the other areas are specific to other topics so there would be a legitimate reason for closing any new threads that are similar to what is currently going on in this thread.

For the most part this is just a support forum for people with issues using the R1 and now XR500. This thread's purpose is nothing more than a notification that a firmware update is being delayed. Why would anyone need to comment on it? Better question, why would Netduma need comments from users in an announcement thread? It's not like this is a really transparent company that actively responds to development questions etc.. They do answer support questions which is why these are mostly support forums and that brings me back to why users wouldn't be making a "plague of new threads" as they know Netduma only responds to actual support issues or sometimes announcement threads they never should have left open.

It has nothing to do with free speech or censorship unless these forums have zero rules in which case everyone should start posting racist, nsfw, pointless clickbait threads.

Unless Netduma staff plan to regularly update these announcement threads with new posts of information they do more harm than good the longer they are left open.

We are waiting for 1 year..

Next time if you could nt respect the date don t post a "release" date.. This is the question..

Before the beta

Now "delayed"

It s not a time problem , it s a seriousness..

I know that Netduma team is small company but come on..

Actually, it's been two years.

Do you seriously think calling out the "crybabies" will solve something? Or make anyone shut up?

No, it will only up the ante.

The first wave of complaints expressed discontent with the extended delay. The second wave follows up with how bad the PR is that three weeks after the announcement, not a single Netduma Staff Member has offered feedback. Yet they can manage to post XR500 messages via Twitter/Facebook/etc all day long.

From a money point of view they couldn't care less about the R1 users, they already

Grabbed the cash. Now it's the next cash cow aka Netgear users. And I bet the need to please them more due to the contract they signed and won't dare to loose. Furthermore hardware in R1 is more or less obsolete now. Just for the fun i looked at their Twitter since most mention that's the place to get latest info about R1, besides the delay message I ended up last year for a R1 message all else is Netgear related. Great or if you want to loose credit among your customers.

At this point, if it's not out within this month, I encourage everyone that's actually impacted by the lack of development support to leave negative reviews across the web. If they can ignore our feedback, they can't ignore our financial impact on future customers.

Frustration is understandable but insighting a riot, smh.

I work in production, not software, but it's the same. When someone thinks a task will take a day, it takes two, when someone says two weeks, its four. In our shop, our managers often tell the customers the ideal time that we original thought. It's dumb, but they can't seem to help it. On top of all that, we have more than one customer, so now the team that thought something would take two weeks (which is more like four) doesn't even get to work on one project full-time, they are required to spread out and do multiple projects, which smashes four weeks to bits, and becomes five, six, seven...... You see were I'm going with this. Right now the Netduma team is working on cloud updates for the XR500. They've been posting about it all week on Twitter. They are a small team..... Think about it.

To those that came here to complain about us complaining. Thanks for the constructive criticism.

If you look at the big picture here, there's really not that many of us in this particular thread. We are a small group of people and we are contained here. I doubt there's any real concern about us ruining their business going forward. Even if all of us went out and made it our business to give them a bad rep, it wouldn't affect Netduma much.

The sad part is all that needed to happen all along, is update us as to what's going on, as I said in my last post, it's just communication that's lacking.

One fun riddle for you folks: If you buy an R1 today, which is still listed for sale and will 'soon' have Duma OS. How long until it actually gets it? ;)

Really this is not inciting a riot.this is just reminding everybody of their rights to freedom of speech. no mention of violence of any kind was in that post.

@dav581005 Of course violence wasn't being promoted, but the fact that some members are saying they were going to persuade people to NOT purchase a R1 or the Netgear XR500 and defame the Netduma team, that is what was meant by a "riot".
