When logging to the interference use incognito mode on the browser as it doesn't save cache and it might just be showing the prompt from prior login. What I would do is do a factory reset but from the interference and then try updating it as quickly as possible by skipping the wizard setup.

@ZliYes that would be it...the reason why you get fragmentation when you ping your max mtu is because it exceeds the limit of what it able to fragment. As for the bridge it depends how the device handles it but typically bridge is better as it just using the modem mode only.

@Netduma FraserI'd like to know why isn't this done from the device itself rather than pinging the server? It just seems like that would be the best way as it doesn't have to rely on being able to ping the server and just rely on the device which should work 100% percent of the time.

@JayVtecThe V2 hasn't gotten a single update and it was just a revision it not a new router so I doubt it that's if were talking about security updates as for the OS maybe by the end of the year or maybe never as somehow it keeps being delayed. So I would just get a refund on that as it'll just get one update and check something else like the R3 which will be getting future updates though be warned it on beta at the moment which is the consensus.

@davemarsden132It seems fine the ICMP packets are most likely being blocked that why it shows packet loss for the middle hops. What typically matters is the bottom hop and the first hop other than that rest is data which can be useful if you had the ability to get a response back. I'd say maybe the second hop might be of concern though if your not actually experiencing packet loss then it just the packet being blocked. I'd say if your trying to diagnose deeply do a 24 hour test and you can see what going on as it can look stable at certain times of the day but then completely unstable at others.

@TearingAnother thing Set CC to always and disable speed test bypass you can check out https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat as it more reliable when testing connections though of course it not the professional way it just easier to do. @TearingLooking at the graph it seems to be your upstream that being affected try decreasing your upload on congestion control and saturate your connection and see if the same thing happens. To add I don't recommend using ping optimizer as it not 100% accurate in my line it ways off by a large margin as when congestion happens it causes packet loss by 1% which might infer as high ping spike if not set properly.

@docha34You can do it through the interference or through the button on the back of the router though preferably it better to do it from the interference. As for what butcher I don’t recommend that but it preference as the old versions have CPU issues that affect the network etc and regardless you’ll still lose access to the UI from time to time and the only fix is rebooting at the moment.
