I test in game. I've been doing this for 3+ years and found that you don't need settings that give you A+ on DSLReports or any other site, you need settings that the game itself likes.
The amount of times I found amazing settings for bufferbloat only to find the game runs horrible...
Its in my opinion from my personal experience that CoD likes abit of bufferbloat.
Its sad though regardless. Any other FPS game runs perfect on my ISP router with no QoS but CoD... I often wonder why I bother tbh.
@Fuzy @Netduma Fraser I will hook up my other router and see which ports Black Ops Cold War really uses while in game.
But I am on PS4 and will look if i see a difference when Crossplay is enabled/disabled.
If you are running DumaOS, and you are getting 60ms ping, then I think you hay have a few settings that may need tweaking
And if you are playing on a 60+ms ping, rather than the more common 10-20 in MP and 30ms in warzone, then 'Call of duty' is probably using its algorithm for lag compensation, by throttling the other users faster connections to compensate for your bad one.
I'm sure you must be playing on a better connection than 60+ms....
Also, if you dominate 90% of all lobby's you get in, the games 'Skilled Based Match Making' is probably putting you into easier lobby's than it should be
I totally understand how people can complain about connection issues, when you have the servers dictating the speeds of the faster connected users over those that are slowing the server down. Its very obvious when this happens (in my experience). This has been covered in great depth on Youtube. For example how Tick rates work in MP compared to Warzone. The servers update 20 times a second in Warzone when compared to 60 times in MP, so you can clearly see why people experience the 'Super bullet' kills that drop you instantly in warzone. This is why the competitive 'money Games' community called for the tick rates to be increased on the servers that these players play on.
Any half decent FPS gamer can identify a discrepancy in the way the game performs. For me, its like night and day if there is a problem with the connection.
Pisses me off that it wasn't maintainable thanks to SBMM. I'd have so many damn campers in my lobbies, sometimes I'm the only one moving!
Then theres the tryhards that ran around in packs holding hands... I could usually hold my own against then, ending with a 1.5 - 2 k/d but its just boring seeing the pack, shooting one or two of them and knowing ya gonna die any second. Lucky to get a 3 streak going and I'm a nuke hunter so just isn't fun for me.
No way has the SBMM been toned down, at least not on my end, every match is sliding jump shotting players with precision accuracy aiming, I managed to go on a 20 gun streak and the games after that were diabolical.
