X1000R IP Forwarding Issues with GeoFilter
Netduma Fraser replied to TheJam's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
Ahh that's brilliant to hear - a device doesn't need to have a LAN IPv6 address to make use of your public IPv6 address so if you do my ip into Google and you get IPv6 then you're all good. -
If your ping is low then it's unlikely to be an issue on your side, if you can do the above though that will give me a better idea of what servers you can try to force
-
Could you clarify what you mean exactly?

some problems XR500
Netduma Fraser replied to Wantox81's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
What is the model of the modem/router the XR is connected to and how have you set it up to ensure an Open NAT for devices connected to the XR? -
No it won't matter what firmware version you're running. Fingers crossed, keep us posted!
-
Yeah it's getting a bit mad at the moment! I have adjusted some spam settings so hopefully we'll see a reduction in that now.
-
Thanks for that, I would say you're probably not going to be able to get the ping much lower but do have a look through our optimal settings guide: https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000077073-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-qos Also double check this guide to see if you are capable of getting higher speeds: https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000076586-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-maximum-bandwidth-speeds

I would highly recommend signing up for Early Access: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/39415-introducing-early-access/ as we've done quite a bit of work on this type of issue so would be great to see if you get the same behavior on those versions.

Halo Infinite - Update on Latency & Geofiltering
Netduma Fraser replied to Phantomblu's topic in Community Discussion
Yeah I don't fully understand their reasoning and of course I don't claim to know how the game side networking works either and all the intricacies work but obviously what they claimed it would solve has not materialized. Hopefully they can get it resolved, Halo is such a classic that many people grew up playing myself included, unfortunately I don't think even with those improvements it could bring me back like Halo 2/3 had me hooked.- 8 replies

Depending on your laptop it may have an ethernet port you could use to connect it to the router. So the ping there is to the Google server, it doesn't guarantee you would get that do a game server, whether you can do a wired test or not, could you do a speedtest.net test please and provide a screenshot of the result? Where are you located approximately?
-
Yes it should do - you'll still need to add your friends to your allow list though but you shouldn't need to add any servers.
-
Is it possible to do the wired speedtest I mentioned? Reason I ask is because that will give me your base ping and then I'll be able to tell you if it's possible to improve the ping anymore, without knowing that you won't know what to aim for.

Halo Infinite - Update on Latency & Geofiltering
Netduma Fraser replied to Phantomblu's topic in Community Discussion
You can't impact anyone else, you would just be forcing a particular server and when other players search on the some playlist some would get different servers and would get the same as you, there isn't an impact on their side. The only way I could see it forcing other players away from a better server for them would be if the game doesn't have the population numbers.- 8 replies

Welcome to the forum! Everyone's connection is different so it may not be possible to lower it further but if you do a wired speedtest.net test what ping do you get and where abouts are you located?

Connection problem with Playstation 5

Disable the protection options in WAN Settings, does it work correctly then? -
Found mislocated servers? Let us know here!
Netduma Fraser replied to Netduma Alex's topic in Call of Duty Support
Thanks, all servers, I'll get them correctly classified - if they're a peer and you're connecting to it as the game host 99.9% of the time it will actually be a server -
Showing they're connected to the LAN is the default if the connection type can't be determined. I'm not a developer so I can only tell you what I know, it's quite possible it can be improved upon but it doesn't affect the functionality in any way. I will create a ticket for the issue. What issues are you having with QoS exactly? Most of the time it just needs to be fine tuned to your network.

It's difficult for us to really advise anything as the router aims to improve statistics, ping, spikes etc which it has done here so trying to advise something to improve in game play not dependent on those stats is tricky. The clip itself I can't really see an issue with personally, you missed two shots and they missed one and they unfortunately hit one more than you did otherwise it would have been your kill. Just going off the forum the general things tried are throttling speed severely to 1Mbps or less and experimenting with the ports, there isn't much else I can advise based on the stats.
-
Okay that's great, it's because the servers used to determine your speeds will not be the closest server to you like speedtest.net and depending on your routing/distance to them it won't always give you the expected result. What speeds are you getting over WiFi exactly?
-
Thanks for that, okay and would you say it was better or worse than that game you provided the original screenshot for? If you're not sure, if you can do two more games with two more Auto Ping screenshots we can get an idea of what games you should aim to get.

Welcome to the forum! You're not doing anything wrong, using OpenVPN specifically and through the router will slow it down quite significantly but it's plenty for gaming so there won't be any issues in that regard. If you need to do an update or download then disable the VPN briefly and then re-enable once it's done.
-
For gaming no, it is more of a Parental Control type feature so if you need that type of control then yes, if not then probably won't do much for you.
-
Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you're having this issue, while connected via ethernet, disable WiFi entirely from WiFi settings, reboot the router from the interface, wait 2 minutes, access, enable WiFi , apply, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes then see if it's more stable from then on.

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you're having this issue, what firmware version are you on currently? If you set NAT to Open in WAN Settings does it work then?
