ColonicBoom got a reaction from Krush in PPPoE
I’ve just tested QoS and both up and down works fine for me.
Zen gives me 300+ upload, 400+ download, I dragged the sliders down to 100mb on both and ookla test gave me the correct result. Tested again down to 20mb on both and that too was correctly applied.
Must a conflict elsewhere that is causing a problem because it’s all good for me so far.
To clarify: I’m not using passthrough or piggybacking with DHCP disabled, I’ve completely removed the router Zen provided (Fritzbox 7350), and I’m only using the XR700 (up to date firmware downloaded via the admin interface) straight from the ONT.
Aside from struggling to find the right place to enter the VLAN ID, it all seems to be working. Full speeds with QoS disabled and exactly the right result reported through speed tests with it enabled.

I'd guess it's related to the two warnings in the screenshot

Most of those modems use the Intel Puma chipset which is broken. Has nothing to do with this router.

That'll work for today, until someone else has a problem with it lol
I updated the main post also

Mod Box do you think the title should be renamed to low latency modems and point out the others have either the puma 6 CPU or another bad chipset to stop the confusion?

OK guys n gals, calm it. Please keep all replies and comments on topic and most of all civil, There is no need to get all up in the air about anything just because you disagree with another persons "opinion"any name calling pissing contests etc will be removed and relevant warnings handed out.
At the end of the day we are all gamers and just want the best gaming experience we can get.
Please feel free to share your tried and tested experiences of different routers and modems combo's etc but lets keep a lid on the ego's.
Peace out and happy hunting.

First, it's infinite warfare... You have not done a ping test.
Second, you've proven my point right here:
And when I actually look at the links to those specific tests, the results are scary...
What annoys me is that instead of a nice clean organized list of modems that clearly work and do not work well for the best possible gaming experience, new people see this 10 page long pissing contest of people who are making claims without having actually tested any other modems or gone through and tested every combination of settings/setups. Those new people come here and see this nonsense and don't know what to think. "Why is one person saying my modem doesn't work, but someone else is saying it works fine?"
But hey, I'm not here to convince you or anyone else to buy a different modem. If you think you're happy, and you think that everything works fine for you then good for you! But I know I too once thought my setup was fine... Until I wasn't stubborn and bought a $30 modem to make a world of difference to me, and make my gaming experience that much better. The same goes for many others who simply accepted my knowledge and made a small investment for a new modem which resulted in a better quality of life.
I can go on and on, but again, if I say the sky is blue people will say no it's not. This is how the internet works, and quite frankly I do not care. My goal on this forum is not to troll people and tell people they are wrong. But as a general rule, I live life by not opening my mouth to talk about something unless I know what I'm talking about... this is one of those times.

It's a list that was made by me, of modems I've personally and painstakingly tested to ensure that they will work flawlessly with every feature of the the Netduma. Unfortunately it has turned into a pissing contest of people assuming every modem works, just because they never tried a different modem to see the difference. Good luck.

Modem doesn't show in ping plotter first hop is your R1, second is your local node/headend

They do not work perfectly fine. The DPC3941T is a modem that my ISP gave me. It has a built in router. I used it to play on PS4 for 1 day before I realized something was wrong. Sure enough, when checking the ping from my PC to the modem it was spiking from 1ms to 200+ms... Tell me, how is that a problem with Netduma? My ISP's modem was making my ping spike to 200ms without anything connected except for my ISP modem and my PS4. This is what happens when you have an Intel Puma 6 chip in your modem, which is 90% of the modems on the incompatible list.

I can confirm the 7610 made a very noticeable difference for my Duma vs the 7620, SB 6141, 6183.
Good job MoD BoX, your a very valuable source of information to these forums!

They are exactly the same, retailers change the packaging to make it "easy open" in a plain brown box rather than the printed retail box.

Not sure how blame lies with us for hardware that has nothing to do with us at all but okay. You say we pass the blame but most people wouldn't even know to look at ISP line issues if we hadn't introduced the Internet Diagnostics feature TO HELP people. We actively tell them to contact their ISP to try and get them to rectify the issue. If there are bugs then we acknowledge those but we're not going to sit back and say yes your ISP line issue is totally on us when the issue was there before our product was even purchased by them, we just helped bring it into the light.
Regardless, thanks for your feedback. If you have any issues please make a support thread.

How about get your facts straight before you trying blaming a company for someone else's problem? Most of these modems are Intel Puma 6 based which if you had half a brain would know they have issues regardless of what router is connected to them.
Some of them are even ISP provided modem/router combo units that have huge ping spikes without connecting any other router to them. I know because I've used almost half of these modems myself. While directly connected to them my ping would spike to over 500ms. This has nothing to do with Netduma or the product they provide.
The rest of the modems on the list are modems that members or myself have personally tested to find that they either are incompatible with the Netduma or they degrade your gaming experience and should be avoided if you want the best possible connection. Again, tell me how a modem manufacturer dropping the ball by using a bad chip or buggy firmware has anything to do with Netduma?
There is absolutely no router in the world that can fix line issues with your ISP. Guess what? I've had issues for the past 2 years with Comcast. They finally fixed it 2 months ago, I found myself a properly working modem, and all of my issues went away. Been using my Netduma as my main router ever since without a single problem. So tell me, how is that Netduma's fault for Comcast giving me an Intel Puma 6 based modem with lag spikes built into it and Comcast's line giving me packet loss?
If you have problems with your router, make a support post and we have a great deal of people that will be more than willing to help you. If you're just another troll here to complain about how you don't know how to use your router but it doesn't work then I suggest you quit while you're ahead.
I wrote this list of modems myself and I stand behind what I wrote. If you want to game, stay away from those modems. Regardless of what router you're using.
I am no way employed or paid by Netduma to say any of this. These are my own thoughts and in the words of bagsta69 "everything I type is my own free thought and not representative of Netduma blah blah blah blah sarcasm doesn't travel well on the internet blah blah blah bite me!!!"

Here's the ping results with my TC7610 hooked up. It's flawless! Went 41-8 my very first game testing it out. No more 200+ ping spikes for me haha

ColonicBoom reacted to TrayDay in Intel's Puma 6 chipset suffers from latency & jitter, fix soon.
I used to have problems with the 6183 before finally having it received the proper firmware to disable the Energy-efficient Bug that was on by default and couldn't turn it off in the modem settings. I called ISP and told them I wanted my modem updated and they said they would contact the manufacturer to send it. And maybe a few days later or a week I believe. My modem deserted by itself a d had the new update. Before I had terrible ping spikes, I couldn't use the netduma at all... the netduma would auto reset by itself because the modem couldn't handle the threshold power and deserted (because it was using energy-efficient setting EEE by default).
I still have "some jitter" but it's somewhat bearable, why looking forward to the DumaOS. Get that jitter down better... can only do so much on your end where your isp says they don't see anything lol.

I had the 6190 and always thought my ISP was to blame for the jitter and spikes, swapped with the 6183 and COD seems to run better now. Just switched about 2 weeks ago though, I hope it's not a placebo lol.

So, I replaced my TM1602A with my old modem SB6120 and the spikes are gone according to my Netduma's ping diagnostics. Now I'm getting everything exeptional.

Now if all gamers that use cable know of this they can sort out this online mess, because it is not only awful for you playing with jitter its a nightmare playing against somebody with it.
Ping compensation has a hard time dealing with the massive fluctuations, especially cod.

ColonicBoom reacted to Netduma Fraser in FIFA 17 Results
Hey guys, an update for FIFA 17.
It appears to be working absolutely fine with the Geo-filter. When searching it shows blocked players it was trying to put you with and then should match you with someone inside your radius. If it doesn't then just search again and should work.
In the case when you cannot match with another player and you have a dedicated server within your radius it will connect you both to that so you can join each other. In this scenario we found the game to be more laggy. So would definitely recommend excluding any dedicated servers from your radius (you should see these when you boot up the game) and just force a connection directly to a player within your radius.
You are also able to force connections with players away from your home. For example, I am based in the UK and I forced a game with a player in Saudi Arabia.
If you're having any issues let me know in this thread so I can look out for them.
