can you send me the .23 firmware fraser please?
-
Arrived yesterday. Box and contents well presented. The router looks better quality than the R2 which i found felt cheap and had very sharp corners. The OS4 is very nice and modern and looks like a lot of work has gone into it. Congrats to the Netduma team.
-
I have decided to buy it too and waiting for it to arrive.
-
Wouldnt be better to have the R2 as the main router with the Asus connected and have the asus router use its own networking capabilities for parental controls and wifi and have the gaming pc/console connected directly to the netduma and wifi disabled on the R2? that's how mine is configured. Everything is connected to the AX88U apart from my mac, my linux pc and my XBOX which go directly into the R2.

Bricked XR500 AFTER firmware upgrade
BIG__DOG replied to MangaGurl's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
You didn't install the firmware using wifi did you by any chance? Just with you saying you had a "connection interrupted" message, that would imply that's why.- 35 replies

Hi and welcome. currently there is no scheduling ability on the router at the moment.

eye candy. They make em to resemble stealth fighters to give the impression of speed and responsiveness. It's all about marketing and capturing a certain age group and target audience.
-
Asus have 1 that looks looks similar. Bloody ugly looking things. Under the hood the XR1000 is a tempting purchase.

Issue : XR500 & Philips Hue bridge
BIG__DOG replied to Hadrien's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
You say your XR500 was in AP mode, was it behind another router and is it still?. There is some sort of port conflict going on which is why I suggested a DMZ as I know from checking that the HUE uses standard port 80 to access the internet. I suggest using UPnP and 1 router only unless you are familiar in vlans or know how to setup different subnets. -
Issue : XR500 & Philips Hue bridge
BIG__DOG replied to Hadrien's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
have you contacted their tech support or looked on their site to find out which port or range of ports your hue uses? You could try inputting the ip address of the hue that the XR500 assignes into the XR500 DMZ and see if it works then ( a reboot of the hue maybe required after this). This would indicate a port issue. I would assigne a static ip address to the hue beforehand. -
DHCP option 60 & 61 feature?
BIG__DOG replied to TheFuzzyOne87's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
They do not want users to use their own hardware, they specifically mask their usernames and passwords and unless you know how to obtain them via wireshark then you are forced to use their hardware! -
A theme in colour similar to this by Linksys on their 32X router. I am suggesting a similar colour scheme not a redesign. The colours would be easier to see for colour blind users and mayless help others with eye strain. Or that of Asus routers in colour?
-
A router would not combat cheating, that is down to the game developers, it is not something that a router company can do I'm afraid!
-
When will there be themes added to the "Themes" tab on dumaOS? Although I am not a colour-blind sufferer I do know that the red spectrum cannot be recognised by certain colour blind sufferers. I have mentioned this on other occasions which is why I would really like to see alternative theme colours for such users.

Hi Here is a guide on how to successfully create Port Forwarding rules to guarantee you an OPEN NAT on your Nighthawk XR Series router. For a list of required ports for a certain game please consult portforward.com for a comprehensive list or comment on this post or message me and I will provide you with the port numbers for your game and Console/PC. PLEASE NOTE: If you have your router behind a modem/router combo then you must disable UPnP and/or any port forwarding rules you have have configured on it.

For all of you that are new to port forwarding and want to use it as a more reliable way of opening ports that are needed for your gaming needs then look no further than the portforward.com guide to help you with a step by step guide. Please remember to disable upnp as you cannot port forward and use upnp at the same time without port conflicts. https://portforward.com/netgear/nighthawk-xr500/

DHCP option 60 & 61 feature?
BIG__DOG replied to TheFuzzyOne87's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
I am not fully converse with the handshake protocol that is needed by sky and none isp hardware. I highly recommend talktalk which require no pppoe handshaking of any kind and allow you to use your own equipment or even BT (but they are over priced) but who also let you use your own equipment. They however require you to have a pppoe login but the username is universal as it is linked to your phone number and the password is blank. There will be someone on here that uses their own equipment with sky but most users would avoid them like the plague that I have spoken to. -
DHCP option 60 & 61 feature?
BIG__DOG replied to TheFuzzyOne87's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
it is not the modems you bought, or the XR500. It is down to the fact that sky do not want you to use any other equipment other than their substandard piece of crap they send you. You need to run wireshark and determine which is your username and password for your sky broadband login. There are youtube videos on how to do this............I personally would switch from them or any other ISP that handcuffs and shackles you to use their equipment. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sky+fibre+username+and+password+wireshark -
does it drop down to a reasonable ping that you are expecting or does it stay around 80?

Convince me vs Rog Rapture
BIG__DOG replied to sharpz44's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
It is the software that makes the R1 and XR500 what they are. Netduma are a software company and the their firmware is specifically designed for the R1 and the Nighthawk XR500. The ROG does have great hardware but it lacks the software features that the XR500 has and even the R1 such as geo filtering. Also the anti jitter feature which will be released in due course plus other features that the ROG and other routers do not have. B.D -
