Yes there will be an app sometime in the future! You're correct in that the genie is not fully supported for the XR500

Ok cheers ,well I’ve just removed the Rog rapture for the XR, dodgy antenna but sorted that and had slight issue with sky q and sorted that, greyed out part was strange but fine as could read,so I’m impressed with the gui layout and dashboard with loads of optimisation options.

Upgraded firmware on Rog prior to removal and speedtested ,was not happy with 10meg differential from previous on upload and - 9 down ,plus the logs were major weird on Rog after I’ve been away for 3 weeks ,xr installed and back to normal, though think netgear need to bin the stick on top ,never got that with R7800, you guys have done a great job converting that software over.happy chappy and more beer for me now as that’s that job done, will test in game soon when I can see straight ....lol

Netgear have a "very basic" app for this router called, "NetgearUP" ... and only works on your LAN, not over the tinterweb (lol!)

i.e NetgearUP App for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netgear.netgearup&hl=en

i.e NetgearUP App for Apple https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/netgear-up/id1124666597?mt=8

Unfortunately....it has very little functionality.

We need one with full menu access and capabilities....  like the old DD-WRT one i used before upgrading to this router (from an R7000 Nighthawk running custom OS, DD-WRT).

With it, i could remote straight onto the router menu and tweak all i wanted, from anywhere on any device.

dd-wrt app for Apple https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/dd-wrt/id556621431?mt=8  (5 star rated)

...Fraser, step in anytime and tell me to shut-up about DD-WRT !! LOL!!!  :P

Haha, do not worry an app with much more functionality is planned!

tbh. I would much rather prefer a simple "monitoring" app for the Geo-Filter functionality and possibly to turn QoS on/off. Would also appreciate a simple API where you can just read out the current ping to the host, to block that host and possibly a Geo-Location for that host.

Would love a simple app/interface which just provides the following:

  • Ping
  • Geo-Location (so someone could display a country flag for quick glance)
  • Approx Distance
  • Allow/Block button
  • Enable/Disable GeoFiltering
  • Enable/Disable QoS

If there was an API for at least the first 3 points on that list - I'd gladly scrub together something simple. Would make a dream come true.. would probably even let this run on a tablet next to my screen so I can see at first glance what I'm up against when gaming.

No real need for an all-blown-up App if the webinterface could be improved for mobile/repsonsive display.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but is there any news yet?

One of the reasons asking is that the web-if is still preeeetty unusable on mobile.. 😕

It's in development (and looks phenomenal!) so you guys on Mobile will be able to play around with it soon enough :)

I'll hopefully have something to give y'all a glimpse of the app over on Twitter / Facebook one day, so stay tuned.
