Modern Warfare II Thread

I make this thread with some level of reservation.  As it is unclear how those who are actually decent at the game will be EOMM'd.  Which has a tendency to mimic network problems.

However, it will not be long before (in a few weeks) the 1st beta starts and I wanted to create a thread in which discussion can be had on game play impressions regarding:

Hit Registration

Input latency

Movement Speeds

Responsiveness

More importantly, will you be playing on dedicated servers or peer-to-peer?  To name a few.

Most importantly it's not clear what technical strides were made with the game's net code.  Will it be no different then prior COD games or has things gotten better or worst?  Will we see

120hz tick rate servers in MP/Warzone?

What kind of pings are you seeing while playing during peak hours?

Are you experiencing "Strict SBMM" not allowing you to move throughout the map?

Are you seeing the same players even though lobbies are disbanding?

Can you play splitscreen with family/friends?

Can you play with your family on the same router/modem?

Can you play with friends on your friends list?

These are but a few of the questions that will be of value to COD veterans who plan on getting this game.  I am sure there are others.

Until then, take care.

Basically a copy of MW2019 with a new skin. In all aspects, shite maps, SBMM, camping & slow gameplay.

If you didn't like MW2019 you won't like this either.

99% uses M4 because it's way stronger than anything else and the rest of the weapons is dull and of limited use. No default ghost and dead silence is a field upgrade, plus footsteps are loud AF.

Things the devs have said regarding feedback from the PS beta...

Mini-Map Dot Rules

  • Currently in the MW2 Beta, we only show enemy player dots when a UAV is active. The design reason for this is that we do not want to punish players for firing their weapons. We also want players to actively search out the origin of a gunshot versus just traveling directly to where the dot is on the mini-map. We continue to gather feedback on how the game is playing in regards to this topic.

Target Tracking

  • We’ve seen feedback that it is hard to track targets once you get into a firefight. We agree this is an issue and we have changes incoming to reduce muzzle smoke opacity and to increase the visibility of the muzzle flash to help engage someone who is firing at you. These changes should help with tracking your opponents in combat.
  • We are also investigating more ways to visually differentiate Enemies and Friendlies outside of the standard nameplates above heads of the opposing players. We will be trying a few changes in Weekend Two… more on that later this week.

User Interface

  • We’ve seen the feedback around difficulty editing perk packages, managing loadouts and accessing the armory. We have identified some UX issues as well as some bugs– these are things we won’t be able to adjust in time for Beta Weekend Two, but they are top of mind ahead of launch.

Perks

  • We’ve seen varied feedback on the Perk Package system. Some players love it and others feel it’s an unnecessary departure from the original system. We feel it’s a nice shake up to how perks work and to the general progression of a match. We’ve also balanced the ultimate perks to be more powerful as you earn them later in the match. We’ll continue testing throughout Beta Weekend Two, including drastically accelerating the earn rate of these to see how players react. Our goal remains improving the flow of all perks ahead of launch.
  • Dead Silence is another hot topic as many players have expressed that they would like to see it as a Perk instead of a Field Upgrade. We believe it is important to game health that rushers are not able to move at high speeds without consequence. Dead Silence as a Field Upgrade creates a balance between freedom of movement and predictability of combat.

Footsteps

  • Footstep audio in week one of the MP Beta was very high, giving players long distance directional information about enemies. For Weekend Two we have some changes coming in. We are reducing the range of footstep audio for the various player movement states (jog, sprint and tactical sprint). This will help soften the cost of moving around the map. The second change is that enemy and friendly footsteps are now distinct. This should help players better understand what's going on as things move around on the battlefield. More details to follow.

Slides

  • Sentiment around the removal of slide-canceling remains positive. We are aware of the workaround and are contemplating how to handle it for Weekend Two of the beta. Additionally, we have some other slide changes for launch which will make this movement feel a bit more fluid and snappy.

Something that I have not seen mentioned is that they have removed the aiming curves, linear, dynamic etc. I found aiming a bit more difficult because of that, since I have been playing on the Dynamic setting for ages.

I tested the beta a bit...

Everything is optimized against people who are used to rushing like me, it's a shame. (Very loud footsteps, manual drone, no enemy fire on the mini map. The trump system sucks, players in ferns have an advantage). And above all, we see nothing! All games are slow....

For the moment, I don't want to spend 2 years on this game... On the other hand, it's me or the Beta is limited in FPS between 90 and 105 on xbox series s.

Have any PC gamers noticed this too?

Spent the last couple of hours playing. Game runs smooth for me, 150fps rough average.

One weird thing I did notice is that 99% of players I was matched with were using Xbox. Didn't see any PS players and only a handful of PC players.

Despite being rusty, I was doing alright, had good games and bad games...

Then you know what kicked in...

My last few games is just sit on headglitches, sit in corners and listen for footsteps.

CoD...

CoD never changes (Fallout ref)

Actually I am playing on my parts bin PC lol (Xeon E5 v4 E2697A4 + RX6700XT)

Old server CPU but still getting 120-150 FPS in 1080P.

When I switched to PC I played 1 game of Ground war, joined half way, #1 on the leaderboard with 30 kills and straight back to SBMM land lol.

Lol.

6700XT. Good card. Thats what I'm using, got sick of waiting for 3070 prices to get better... was gonna use it as a placeholder but I'm very happy with it.

That bloody museum map... 99% of deaths in the back. I'm running around and not finding anyone only to be shot in the back. Thats fun.

It supprised me actually the R6700XT. Compared to my other system, 5950X + 3070Ti it's getting a bit more FPS but not amazing amounts. I got a 40% off deal on the RX6700XT so for the price can't beat that.

Yeah, before buying I watched many a video comparing 6700xt and 3070 and fps is very close. Some games 6700xt is better, others 3070 but never more than 10fps difference.

Have you overclocked yours? Mine is the OC version but I'd jammed up the max to 2750Mhz, turned down the voltage to 1150 and upped the VRAM to 2150Mhz. Its all stable in benchmarks and games.

I haven't had my PC very long so not played many games but defo looking forward to modding Skyrim and putting that 12GB VRAM to good use :D

Considering Nvidia has really p*ssed everyone off with the 4000 series, I might upgrade next year to a 7700xt if the price and performance increase are in the right place.

Not yet, I only put it in this week and was happy with what it did. It's the Sapphhire version. I am using generic AMD software though, the thi shas 3 switchable bios chips so should expirimnt with that,

I put it on the same as you have, 2750 Mhz - 1140mv, VRAM 2150Mhz and it's stable, however the difference in game is not massive. It adjusts clock speeds dynamically so I'm sure that is what is happening.

Also I downloaded the Steam beta. And had to start from scratch. But deleted it and downloaded via Battlenet and that gives me my normal stats and account :)

I have to expiriment with FSR settings and so on to see what plays best. I am sure the CPU in this PC is holding me back thoug it's 16C/32T but 3.6Ghz 1 core and 3.1GHz all core so not too hot by today's standards.
