Stealth_01
Hi all, I've just switched providers today and have a new PPPoE login for my internet service. My cuurent set-up is Huawei HG612 > Netduma. Now here's the catch, when i enter the details of my PPPoE into the Netduma and click apply i cant connect to the internet. But i can connect directly when I hardwire my laptop to the modem. So i know there's no issues with the cabling or the modem itself. Ive applied a full factory reset on the Netduma numerous amount of times but to no avail. At this moment in time ive currently changed my setup and have a netgear nighthawk which is working just fine once i entered the PPPoE details. When i rang the tech support from my isp he did tell me that the netduma is still trying to connect with the previous PPPoE details and asked if i could clear the cache and try again. Ive re-booted and done atleast 3 factory resets already but cant log on. Ive checked over the PPPoE details numerous times but to no avail?? What is going on?? Screenshots available upon request. All help is greatly appreciated, Regards

bagsta69
Who is your ISP? Could you let us know what you are putting in to connect via PPPoe please. I remember trying to help covted with a similar issue about a year ago, we spent ages on the phone and then it just started working for no reason. Exactly same settings etc.
BIG__DOG
ok, so ur in the uk and on pppoe connection, so it must be dsl. If it is bT you are with type in the following: username: [email protected] password: bt or anything you wish but it must have characters and not left blank. bagsta69
Im with BT Infinity 1 FTTC, as the Big Dawg says above. I input BT as my password and user name as mentioned. (I did not know it could be anything)
progprogprog
I know it sounds daft but make sure the Lan cable from the hg612 is plugged into the wan port on the duma. It's easy to get confused sometimes Good luck!!

Thanks for all the responses, ive just switched over to IDNet. To connect im using the VLAN and PPPoE username and password provided by them. Currently im using a ubiquiti edge router lite and it connects just fine. At this present moment in time the Netduma is a very expensive switch and access point. Ive tried all sorts of stuff and got finally fed up with it. May need a 1 on 1 with Fraser some time this week, but saying that, i dont think there's much he can do providing ive done a full factory reset and entered all the details correctly. Im sure all my cabling is good as it was working perfectly fine 24hours ago with BT. Maybe i can send it back for repair or something? it should still be under warranty as ive had it less than a year. For all those that replied, i really appreciate your help. Thank you Regards,
Zennon
The Ubiquiti edge router lite is doing the authentication just connect the Netduma to it without putting any PPPoE details in the duma. Working Netduma
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 27, 2017 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2017 Sounds like what Zennon says above, let us know if taking out PPPoE & VLAN on the Duma allows a connection

Working Netduma Hey Zen, the connection setup i was trying to achieve was Huawei HG612 > Netduma, the reason ive got it setup the way i have currently is because the afore mentioned setup is not working and as the edge router lite doesnt have many Lan ports or wi-fi im using the Netduma as a switch and AP. Zennon
As you are having troubles with authentication using the duma as the authenticator then if I was in your shoes I would do I as suggested. Wall > Edge router lite (authenticating) > Netduma, wifi on using all the features like congestion control / geo / hyper traffic etc. Makes sense for now so you have a working Netduma in the meantime. As for the Duma set up are you rebooting the duma from "misc settings" after setting up the PPPoE?

As for the Duma set up are you rebooting the duma from "misc settings" after setting up the PPPoE? Right so i've got it set up exactly as you have said for now, but this only is a temporary solution im hoping. Managed to connect through the duma via the Edge router Lite so i can make use of the geo filter, dont really need congestion control as the edge router lite QoS is pretty sweet. Thanks again for your help Zen Sounds like what Zennon says above, let us know if taking out PPPoE & VLAN on the Duma allows a connection Fraser really need some help here mate, its really impractical to have a modem and a router set up behind the Netduma, when i should be able to set it up modem > Netduma. Really stumped with this one. I cant understand why it isnt sending authentication via PPPoE.
Zennon
Are you IPV4 or 6 with IDNet? Remember to set it correctly in WAN settings of the duma and fill in the VLAN tag.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 27, 2017 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2017 Try this: Set PPPoE without VLAN and apply. Reboot from miscellaneous settings. Do you get internet? Set PPPoE with VLAN and apply. Reboot from miscellaneous settings. Do you get internet? There won't be much I can do in a 1 on 1 given I won't be able to have an internet connection to you and try combinations.

BIG__DOG
I am with IDnet, If you have your netduma connecting via pppoe and it is connecting to a bt openreach modem then there should be no issue. turn off all ipv6 settings in wan, lan & misc. your pppoe username is usually your telephone number followed by @idnet....make sure you arent typing @idnet.com and your password is unique to you. RedBull2k
what i believe you need to do is this, as your currently using the edge for pppoe you will need to log into its gui and disconnect the current pppoe session. now remove the edge router from hg612 and connect up duma using pppoe. This will get you online. i have to do it when i swap and change and i forget to disconnect current session, i think it remembers the mac or something.
