NEW XR700 BETA FIRMWARE: 3.3.363

Recommended Posts

  • 2 months later...

Almost 1 year of this Beta 🙂First... thank you for the opportunity to have some updates on this excellent (and expensive) router.

Globally it is stable... just after a few weeks/months, it needs a reboot as it is becoming unstable with connection lost first partially and then totally (over a few days).

Maybe Netduma Team can share some news and updates planned for soon or later ?
Another update for bugs/security/features improvements ?

Thank you for the feedback and have a nice summer all

There won't be any major updates or any further features added or changed, it will primarily be some bug fixes here or there, as with any update I don't have any ETAs.

Could you provide a log when you next get that issue please?

@Netduma Alex

Can you please check or update why traffic prio/DPI is not picking up on XR700 for Valorant ?

I asked you a while ago and you said u were going to update the DPI, I just left it because I thought u have been very busy with the team.

And the weird thing is on my R3 Valorant gets always recognised, but never did I see the traffic got prioritized on XR700.

One important thing to note the traffic gets recognised in Valorant when the actual match starts so NOT in pre-game lobby, not when u are searching for a match and not when u are loaded in your match and the pre-game timer is ticking.

It is getting picked up when the match really starts that you go shoot and play.

Alex is away at the moment but I'll chase him for this, it's likely the 700 is running an older cloud version - there isn't a singular cloud all the platforms pull from so they need to be updated manually. But yes as above that's how it should work as that's when you're actually gaming.

Yes I understand this but on Valorant (PS5) it just start prioritizing when the game really starts like when u start to walk and go shoot people.

In other games it starts prioritizing already in pre-game lobby or pre-match when the timer starts ticking of your match.

@Netduma Fraserthank you for chasing Alex for it 🙏

It will depend on the captures and what we find in them, it may be for some games that the patterns are the same in the pre-game lobby as when you're in the game and others it may be different, in the cases where it will be different it will only prioritize when you're actually playing which is ideal really, no need to prioritize the lobby.

Hey Netduma Team,
Do you think the SFP port on XR700 is compatible with 10 Gbit/s Technologie XGS-PON ?
Some providers sell 1gb/s (my current use of XR700, directly to the fiber) and also 10gb/s...
What do you think ?
Thanks a lot

I would think so yes, it is a NG hardware feature so not something I'm 100% confident in confirming but there is more information here: https://kb.netgear.com/000060606/How-do-I-set-up-my-10G-SFP-port-for-WAN-on-my-NETGEAR-Nighthawk-XR700-Pro-Gaming-Router

I got a 10Gb SFP to ethernet adapter for my XR700 and R9000, both work with this adapter. Thought I don't have a 10Gb ISP connection. Works on the CAX80 and CM3000 cable modems.

@Netduma Alex

I was not saying it correct on the XR700 the traffic prio NEVER works for Valorant (not in-game, not in a match)

What I described was with the R3.

Hope Alex can push the latest cloud update to the XR700 🤞

I have a update on this matter I played yesterday also CoD mw III on the XR700 and I found out after playing several matches of CoD after playing Valorant that it did not  prioritize any packet of the Call of duty (series) prio rule.

Only DumaOs classified games rule works maybe because it is also light up (packets counter moving) when i dont play a game.

If you're playing on a console you should add it with a console - it's unlikely to work by selecting the services meant for PC gaming

Yes thats what I did, the same way as the past 5 years or more that im using the XR700 😁

Added the rule for my PlayStation but they dont work did a factory reset and a reboot but still they dont pick up.

It used always to work now the manual traffic prio rules also dont work.

I have played yesterday and today Valorant and CoD, but look at the picture I added.

I mean the target should be "Games Console" instead of the specific games and then it should work just fine, it's quite possible the services are outdated and we need to re-test but I wouldn't suggest picking them specifically for consoles, using the Games Console option would work better.

Yes I tried that, it is maybe better because it will only target the traffic from the device (PlayStation in this case) but it had always been working with the traffic only prioritized for the specific game that we play.

As now it will also prioritize traffic from the PlayStation chatparty or Discord chatparty or other traffic that is running from the console besides the traffic that you only wants to get prioritized from the actual game that is running.

I get you, that's why we have a singular option for the console to prioritize everything on it as it's quite hard to distinguish what specifically was being done on the console, at least it was at the team, we've got better at that detection on DumaOS 4.

Hi Fraser,
I sent you a private message with logs and question.
Hope you have time to check it
So far... R-Apps are not loading anymore, even after a reboot and/or the settings to 5 start retries
Thanks

Thanks for the PM, I wouldn't be able to provide the information you asked for unfortunately.

Have you factory reset since upgrading to the beta?

Hi guys,

As I had asked earlier are u guys gonna look in the matter of why the traffic prio rules dont work anymore on XR700 for PlayStation console, it doesnt pick up Valorant or COD rule and also doesnt pick-up the manual rules that had been working for the past 5 years or so and the ports are still the same for the game as I can see on my R3 in stats for nerds also when I make a manual rule for Valorant it doesnt work as I grab the ports from my gaming session with the R3 and the ports that are listed on Riot Games website.

There is a cloud update in testing that will go out to all platforms soon which should help

I hope so because it was always working good, wondering what changed that led so we cant use a manual traffic prio rule with PlayStation anymore.

Because thats the purpose that we can only prioritize the ports that affect the actual gameplay and nothing else that is not important.
