Heatmap - Where are the UK servers for COD ? and why so many failures

Hi All,

Just picked up a XR500 and looking at the OS3 Beta after previously having an XR300

Does anyone know why it shows no UK Warzone servers and why so many failed on the heatmap.

I get the same for Cold War and Modern Warfare

Successful: 11
Failed: 36

I'm on sky broadband and the default settings on their router, simply connected the LAN port.

That one you've clicked on is one in the UK, it's just slightly off and closer to the map on France but doesn't affect anything. The servers change often so we then have to update the feature with those new servers, I've already let the team know so should be resolved soon.

Thanks Fraser, always a prompt response.

Do you have any idea why there are so many failures?  I'm assuming it's elastic servers with cloud providers and the IP addresses change frequently.

Yeah it's pretty much that, we're working on a tool internally that will notify us of this much quicker so you guys hopefully don't see the issue as often.

Same here. I really struggle to find games in the UK at the moment. I have team mates constantly dropping out because of the wait times.

What does your Geo-filter configuration look like currently? How many servers are included in your Radius?

@Netduma Liam I've got the Geo filter in spectate mode when running the tests. I'm assuming that correct as the US servers return a ping.

No need to worry about that, it will work the same regardless of whether filtering mode is on or not. It's a cloud issue and isn't specific to your router, we're actually pushing some updates today that will fix it.

My map has always been like in the image. I usually connect to the Dedicated servers that locate themselves on the south coast. But now it searches for up to 10 minutes and then only connects to peers at the same location.

Is that really the UK one? Has it always been there? I have always avoided that location because I thought that it was a french Dedi.

also if you search that IP geographic location it’s in the US haha

Spectating mode is when you turn off filtering mode in the Geo, is that right. I think that spectate mode is no longer called spectate mode... Unless my memory is bad..

Yeah that's correct, essentially just disable filtering mode.

I tried with filtering mode off, and kept getting peer's at that north of France location, and the south coast of the UK. I put filtering mode back on and a 7ms ping assist and kept getting the Dedi in the screen shot.

You need to put Filtering Mode when you're off the game or wait 2 minutes after enabling as the connection as already been made which is why it's still allowed - do that and then it will be blocked. Whats the ID of that server on bottom of the UK? I think that dedicated server is either the UK or France though

Okay, I will test again this evening. are you still in the process of relocating servers and updating the Ping heatmap?

If you re sync the cloud on Ping Heatmap it should report much better now

Hi Fraser,

What happens if I only use "ping assist" and my "geo-filter" is outdated, is the game capable of finding new lobbies or depends on 100% of Netduma's database? I dont know if you follow my question.

Thanks!

The Geo-Filter will show active connections regardless, the cloud database just determines whether those connections are:

  1. Located correctly
  2. Whitelisted
  3. Classed as Peer or Dedicated

So even if it was hugely outdated you can definitely still use Ping Assist to get the lowest ping servers.

Hi, can someone explain what I'm seeing here in the screen shots with 2 servers on the map

I'm playing a game of Warzone and I can see 2 servers on the Geo filter.

Auto ping host is enabled

I'm in a PS5 Party chat

Geo Filtering mode is off.

The server in the US is ec2-44-225-13-2.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com  (this disappeared when I left party chat). Maybe that's a feature that I didn't see when I had the XR300.
Strange that PS5 party chat would be using and AWS US-West2 Availability Zone when everyone in the chat was based in the UK.

The server in France 45.63.112.221 has a few issues.

  • The Auto ping window does not show the ping value,
  • Ping, the host and client tick rates do not track in the graph

It is odd they chose to use that server for chat but the ping to it probably wouldn't affect the chat quality too much. You're also not filtering in this screenshot so that could be why as well. CoD servers don't respond to ping normally but we're usually able to get around that, on some occasions it doesn't work but it should work the next time you try it

This is after the Resync. Is it right that some of these French servers are actually located in the UK? if so can be located correctly? I shouldn't have to extend my polygon into the EU just to get a UK server, I voted FOR Brexit haha.

And would you know what is causing the result list to be corrupt (in screen shot) its been like that for weeks now too.

Yes that may be the case, you could keep your search radius the same then just set ping assist to 20 in the mean time.

Do you see the same display error in Microsoft Edge?

No mate, Edge it works fine. but I don't want to use edge ;)

I don't blame you, we're aware of this issue already and the guys internally said it wasn't present on Edge so I was just checking. We're looking to resolve this ASAP, we think it may have been caused since Chrome and Firefox had updates released. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
