R1 DumaOS Briefly Delayed

I  heard the XR500 is buggy and CC does not work properly. Can anyone comfirm this? B/C I have lost hope and i believe all R1 owners won't get the update until xmas or beginning of next year.

I cannot confirm this or deny it as i do not own one! It wouldn't surprise me if there was a bug or two as there is no such thing as perfect and in my experience of software, It is quite common for something new to have such things no matter how long in development but then that is what patches, fixes and updates are for!

So If the rumours you have heard are in fact true then i am sure some kind of fix is in the pipeline if the devs are aware of such bugs :)

The people as me , 3 years ago invested money in a " sperimental " product.. Ok duma os on xr500 , ok briefly delayed ( night before ) , ok " as soon as possible " , ok " weeks" , ok 2 weeks for a downgrade possibility BUT...

Netduma team , the people in this forum spend money in your project , and is for that people ( that buyed R1 ) that you are at this point ( netgear partnership )!

Respect us.

  • Mid February - Open beta: a public beta which you can all apply to be a part of. This version will have all the major new features ready for testing (including anti-jitter, anti-spike and much much more that we can't reveal yet!)
  • Full Launch: sometime after the Open Beta, dependent on feedback

Its 1 year..

Not " weeks"

Yeah i get you dude, I payed what is a lot of money for me tbh for my R1 too and i cannot afford the XR500 either otherwise i probs would upgrade! And yeah If i am totally honest i probably am a little frustrated as again like you, i was totally excited for the new Os!

Disrespected though! No! I don't feel disrespected in the slightest! Because i understand that sometimes in life, shit happens! And the devs just like me are only human and sometimes saying very little is better than constantly saying lots of different things and when i stop and think about it and consider things, maybe they are just as frustrated at these turns of events too!

But at the end of the day the bottom line is no matter what they came out and said! whether now yesterday or last year, If its not what a particular collective of people want to hear then still there will be complaints! "You just can't please all the people all of the time",  "only some of the people some of the time"!

I'm almost to the point of selling my R1 b/c how they treated their customers. I guess you can't be trans-parent b/c we will leave. Someone messedd up bad signing the contract with netgear.

I had it and it made me very sad. I'm much happier the R1.

Time to face facts lads, R1 users are dead to them. They follow the money now and r1s will soon cease production and enter legacy support.

Could we please be notified when the DumaOS for the R1 is ready?  Any mailing list?  I just want to avoid looking into this salty forum thread every week - Thanks!

Then just keep an eye out for the announcement thread. Whenever it will be posted. Do you like the situation how it is right now so much that u needed to tell us this in your first post ever?? Just curious to know. And yes there is a mailing list which you can subscribe to on dumaos.com.

The very first post on this thread he sAid that it would take no more than 2weeks mmmmm it’s been 2 weeks sooo whAt lies do we have to listen to now

Nowhere in the first post does it say it would take no more than 2 weeks.

"It should take, at absolute most, a few more weeks."

"Few" does not mean 2 explicitly. It means a small number of, but is most commonly used to describe 2-4. Still it is such a vague word, there is no definitive meaning behind it.

I am just as frustrated as anyone here. Some are blindly faithful, but the truth is, the PR for this company needs some massive work. Consistently making false/empty promises and reneging nearly 100% of the time is not a good way to build trust. Yes the product is good, but I would rather the company just keep its mouth shut than to make wild claims/timelines. Lets not follow in their footsteps.

IMHO something went wrong and this was the lie they came up with. My uncle is an attorney and he even thinks this is far fetched. There is no legal reason for them to have the ability to rollback the firmware. Firmware updates are not mandatory by nature and the capabilities by this new firmware were never part of its original design. It is a free upgrade. I find it bogus that they wouldn't just release it and provide a future update that allows rolling back the firmware. If someone doesn't like it, they can just wait a "few" weeks to roll back. It would be a lot less harm to the companies already fragile PR. But hey, whats done is done. You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times before all that is left is the ankle.
