playstation and xbox not showing up on smart boost
DARKNESS replied to jame0174's topic in Netduma R3 Support
That's normal behavior to add your gaming activity is only going to show up active if your on a match not sitting on lobby. -

@Maya HristovaThere's only so much you can clean that's why I recommend an air duster as that solves the problem you don't need to worry about the dust too much if it's just light dust. Routers function fine with them It not necessarily a console were you need to clean fan because it needs better ventilation to keep CPU cool. The only time performance would be impacted would be if you were blocking air ventilation by putting it in particular area were temperatures would increase. Let's say you live in a hot place then I would recommend getting a Mini-Fan if that's what your worried about since you don't typically need to clean a router.
-
@Maya HristovaSimplest method is to use an air duster and then clean it with wipes or just use a plain cloth. You just don't want to add water to the router as that'll damage the components.

@MartonicIt is possible to do but without a VPN you’ll pretty much never queue into a lobby as your waiting indefinitely. So the method to select your region is to use HVPN and then use geofilter to lock to a specific server.

NEW XR700 BETA FIRMWARE: 3.3.363
DARKNESS replied to Netduma Lew's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
@MobelThat's the intention it when the actual match starts when it's detected. -
@XeroYes Speeds are capped on PlayStation as Sony has slow servers when downloading files + uploading they even slightly affect your ping and if the servers go down then you can't play any game unlike PC.
-
@BrunoIf your playing efootball don't expect the geofilter to work for that game as I have tested it personally and it one of those games that aren't compatible with the feature even though it seems like it is at first. I already showed netduma this so they need to add that game to the not compatible list .

@truck0331 I am not the admin but I believe there is a known issue with ppoe/fiber connections therefore the solution is to have your ONT box handle the connection and then use the XR1000 as the host to control the network. They say it already fixed and the firmware is pending on netgear whenever that is released....the admin should be on tomorrow.
-
@truck0331 In other words your ONT/ISP Box If the light is not white then yes something is wrong as it should be solid white not orange. What type of connection do you have DHCP OR PPOE? I'll be heading off for the night the admin will ask you for further details/give advice on what to do depending on your issue but I would first check if it your ISP having issues by running a software like ping plotter or just use command prompt and ping hops will connected solely to the ONT box.

Fiber Internet Service - Which Provider Do You Recommend?
DARKNESS replied to rickyymartinn001's topic in Off Topic
1G should be enough for everyday use especially if you get symmetrical speeds the only time you would need more is if you have several users all slugging your bandwidth. Your primary focus should be the upload as that's what your going to be doing consistently so look for something that has a sufficient amount to save time when uploading files. -
is it really useful to use steady ping
DARKNESS replied to Matthew_D's topic in Community Discussion
@Matthew_DPing is king the lower the better the only time you would want to use steady ping is when you have a fluctuation that is noticeable like ex (5-20) if it just 15-17ms there really no purpose as your just adding additional latency and 2ms differential isn't going to affect you. -
That not a bug it just the DPI incorrectly detecting the packets for the application/service.
-
@Munz01 I would factory reset first to see if it just software conflicting with older firmware to do so Go to Settings>Troubleshooting>Factory Reset If you want to downgrade you need to download the file then upload it on to the R3 Go to Settings>Troubleshooting>Upload Firmware>Update There a clip if you want to see an example https://jam.dev/c/fb6f5e60-ec55-4e39-800e-a06484be5a32

@JimmyPCould be the fact your using a channel that's congested therefore there would be slower speeds depending on interference to optimize channels use an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=abdelrahman.wifianalyzerpro&hl=en_US to find the optimal channel also check for your local area channels allowed since if your using channels that your not supposed to then you could get into legal trouble.

@Netduma Alex@Netduma Fraser Application name: WaveForm - https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat Device type used for capture: MACOS Any other comments: Not Detected Accurately Detected as Unknown/Cloudflare/Ookla Speed Test. @Gil Are you on the latest build? https://forum.netduma.com/topic/56107-new-r3-firmware-40236/ Did you try switching lan cables just to check if it just faulty?
-
@bcoe30 If you can find fiber then go fiber but if you only got coax then go with the fastest and most reasonable price...looking at that plan there's just trying to steal from you at that point 50mbs for fiber at 70 bucks they wilding? To add it seems the fiber from AT&T 50/10 - it's actually VDSL so essentially it is what you call fake fiber you can dig a little deeper but I think that tell's you more than you need to know...just my opinion you can do your own research.
-
@CautionThat's based on a cycle and how many devices are connected to the network at time though it will stick around 1-10% typically and that depends if your running certain applications which take more memory/ram etc. As long as your not experiencing crashes to ram you should be fine....

@Vicmepa Will DumaOS 4 be coming to the Netduma R2 or NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers (XR500/XR700/XR1000/XR450/XR300)? For Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers, we have some more unfortunate news: as things stand, DumaOS 4 will not be coming to these units. As you can probably tell, it has been a challenge getting these models onto DumaOS 3.3, for reasons outside of our control. We have been able to get the XR500, XR450 and XR700 onto 3.3 via open beta firmwares. And this week we received an XR1000 firmware from NETGEAR (running DumaOS 3.3) which is going through our internal testing now. So as things stand right now, the only way to get your hands on DumaOS 4 currently is to purchase a Netduma R3.

@kryptik66Does enabling geo-latency not bypass it?
-
@kryptik66There no way around it and I don't think they'll be...they admitted it originally it just the way there game is designed is region locked based for some reason therefore only way is to play around using a vpn to change servers. That's why in certain regions the game is dead and users can't do anything about it. I haven't played the game in a while and doubt they've made any drastic changes to that so till they give you the option in game to change servers don't expect much of change it more of a game developer issue. You should be contacting them directly if you want them to change that and the feature which should've been there from the beginning it just another beta game wait 2-3 years for them to add something that should've been there from the start tired of it to be honest. The game freezes up regardless of you not using this particular router just a fact just bad optimization on the game devs...it occurs every time you load into the game or go back to lobby. To add I believe it sometimes does ping a further server so that's the reason for it kicking you.

XR1000 not working after update
DARKNESS replied to Eyezicks's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
@Eyezicks Use the browser instead of the app as it not optimal at the moment till it get's updated as there are some issues with compatibility.
