Netduma XR1000 keeps cutting my internet out!!
DARKNESS replied to ASD4157's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
@ADhillonThis is not a modem; it is a router. Is this the correct device you have? You require an internet connection, so the device that provides internet would be either a cable modem or an ONT box. https://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Tri-Band-Wireless-coverage-MX4200/dp/B08NC66R2G -

You can verify the modem’s model by inspecting its label or accessing it through the router. However, checking the label is generally a quicker method. -

@ADhillonI am quite certain that this would not occur unless you are using another router that is conflicting. Could you please provide me with more details about your setup? -
This issue is not related to the router’s firmware. However, after researching it, it appears to be a server-side problem. While using a VPN may mitigate this issue, there is no guarantee that Marvel will address it quickly or be aware of and working on a solution. You should have tested other games before even doing a downgrade, as that would have been quite obvious.

@BAGGY67In bridge mode, did you add your PPPoE details on the R3? You can check this out as it seems to be a setup process that correlates to your issue https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Hub-One-or-new-Hub-Two-in-bridge-mode/td-p/1937055 http://192.168.1.254 Advanced Setting > Broadband > Internet > Bridging > Enabled. Save settings.

@DJAYYI rarely use HVPN since it’s unnecessary for my games. Other VPNs are essentially the same, with varying experiences due to marketing, so it’s clear it’s a scam. I am a top ranker in Fortnite in most games, so I can't play with casuals or be on casual lobbies, so I don't waste my time researching VPNs to kill bot players, but everyone has their opinion. Cod has already been proven to have systems in place where it’s rigged, so most top esports are all cheaters, in humble opinion. You might see some lag if you buffer your whole connection as that'll bottleneck your router, and you don't get QoS for that device when using HVPN. My advice is to use HVPN if you are able to get lower ping and/ or need to manipulate the location to get lower ping for a server because sometimes the game is based on your location and will lock you or try to force you to play in a specific area. Yes, you can use HVPN with Geofilter, which I do when I do use it.

@DJAYYPersonally, I encrypt all of my data. I do not take the risk of someone launching a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on me simply because I engage in online discussions or participate in gaming activities. I acknowledge that some individuals may resort to such actions due to a sense of superiority or inferiority, but I do not condone their behavior. It is crucial to recognize that DDoS attacks are not a legitimate form of expression and should not be tolerated. In essence, it is advisable to ensure that all potential vulnerabilities are covered to mitigate the risk of such attacks. The appropriate time to disable HVPN is when you are certain that you are playing a game that does not leak IP addresses. Fortnite is a good example, unlike others. Additionally, never join a party chat on PlayStation if you know the DDoS user is on the party chat because that is the easiest way for them to get your IP address, so if you have HVPN enabled, they will not be able to do much, but you may disconnect for a few seconds. The primary objective of utilizing specific ports is to relocate specific games while maintaining uninterrupted traffic for other activities (preserving internet speeds). However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the VPN service does introduce a slight reduction in speeds, necessitating the introduction of the specific port feature to address this concern.

@DJAYYHere’s the clip to help you: https://jam.dev/c/60593dd7-aef7-4e16-badd-419845ce0a8c. Type “bing.com” in a PS5 message, click the link, search for “IP leak test,” and check your IP before changing. Then enable HVPN and check if the IP has changed. NordVPN shows if you’re using their VPN.

IOS App missing Traffic controller options
DARKNESS replied to Caution's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
@CautionCheck to see if internet rules work on the app. They were renamed due to the R3, so it's most likely just an app design issue that they can't revert to as it the same function as traffic controller. -
I understand your frustration about the deceptive strategies, known as "dark patterns," employed by companies to manipulate their customers into spending more money. Unfortunately, I do not believe that this situation will change, as greed is a powerful motivator. If you object to these practices, I suggest that you explore games that do not employ these patterns. For this reason, when I tire of playing first-person shooter or battle royale games, my preference is for story-driven games. Here is a link to a list of all the dark patterns they use purposefully to manipulate you, though some are subjective to an extent. To add the link also shows you games that don't contain these patterns as much. https://www.darkpattern.games/

@YT_LowPingKing In general, I choose to set my gaming devices as the top priority, and I never deviate from that. The other devices simply don’t matter unless you are doing VOIP, so you’re forced to find the appropriate congestion control settings to ensure that everything is working properly. If you can discover the correct settings, then you don’t have to worry about anything else. If a device is not assigned priority by SMARTBOOST, you can force it by adding ports 1-65535 to the priority list. However, keep in mind that doing so will disable all other priority settings, so it should be your last resort. That's because that will be the only device that will have priority.
-
@SpazzTechnically you can use them both, but every time the console is on because you've set it on the DMZ it will be prioritized. Because of this, they overlap. From what I am aware, other routers do not even allow you to use both rules simultaneously because of that specific reason.

XR1000 duma OS issues
DARKNESS replied to Alexdabeast96's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
The XR1000 router consists of four versions in version one and one version in version two. To determine which variant you have, refer to the label on the back of your router. If you install incorrect firmware, that could be a possible cause of the malfunctioning features. -
@Spazz When you place a device in the DMZ, only that device can have its ports forwarded. It's not too bad for a console as it's safe unlike a PC, but for a PC if you want to be safe you have to delete it from the DMZ and then add all of the ports manually to the forwarding section, which can be quite long. I think what can be happening is that the console is active and so, since you're using two rules that shouldn't be working together, there being overruled by the console as it's the priority.
-
You can absolutely do that, but I do find it to be unreliable in practice.

I have tested the Hybrid VPN feature, and it works. You can check if it's enabled using the PlayStation Network browser. This may require you to use a secret method to access it. Once you're in, check if your IP address has changed, which verifies that the feature is working. You can check this on NordVPN's website or other websites. I'm a Playstation user, so I can demonstrate it if you'd like.
-
Just to clarify what you are asking, are you asking if the VPN will work with the Geo-filter feature on or off?
-
The sig file is just an update, and there is no download for a full OS. I recommend trying to connect to your router with an Ethernet cable and setting up your Wi-Fi password through the setup wizard. It is possible the firmware on your router is old, and that could be causing the issue.
-
As your router is reaching the end of its lifecycle support, I don't know if the issue will be fixed in time. However, you could try to record what's happening with Jam Dev while on an Incognito mode in your browser. This might help developers troubleshoot the problem faster. I did notice that there are stack tracebacks so yes geofilter is certainly failing to work. The admin should be on tomorrow, hopefully they can help you further. https://jam.dev/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1bSls7C3iQMV8WZHAR3I9h_XEAAYASAAEgLkb_D_BwE

@alecjb12The latest firmware is 1.0.0.74, not 1.0.64.18. https://kb.netgear.com/000066233/XR1000-Firmware-Version-1-0-0-74
