Hello everyone...

Hi everyone.  I play Destiny and COD BO3.  While watching some videos on Youtube about Destiny, I heard the term Netduma.  I quickly searched it on Google and I may have found what I have been searching for for a very long time, which has led me here.  My situation is unique and complicated, as I'm sure yours is as well and I'm hoping that this product is for me.  For now all I want to do is say "hello."  :)

So here it goes...

I live in Kitchener, ON, Canada.

My ISP is Rogers.  I have a 250 down and 20 up service with them.

I have a modem/router (Hitron CGN3ACR) which I use only as a modem and my routing is done by the Apple Time capsule 3TB.  My whole house is wired and I have a 16 port switch and two 5 port switches, albeit nobody really uses the hard wires, most are wireless here.  My PS4 is direct to the modem, so is the router and everything is behind it.  Wireless is very important in this house as I have my parents in the basement who are always on their devices.  My 2 kids and then my wife and I have multiple devices.  Everyone has an iPhone, 5 laptops, almost as many iPads, iMac.  The house is a good size, coming in at 2900 sqft not including the fully finished basement.

So my challenge is:

How to setup the NETDUMA?

How to maintain the wireless range and speed?

It seems like the hardware is the limiting factor for my application.  Forgive me if I left anything out, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.  I also have not yet purchased the NETDUMA as I am still trying to understand it's capabilities and limitations and how it applies to me.

The best way to set it up wold be: Hitron CGN3ACR (in modem mode) >> Netduma >> Apple Time capsule (In AP mode so all routing is done by Duma). Then all of the switches also connected to then Duma :)

What device are you using for wireless at the moment? I assume it is the Apple Time Capsule? If it is then you can continue using that for the wireless.

Dakillah you can, try put the Time Capsule in "bridge mode" or "access point mode". That is optimum setting.

Then on the Netduma go to "Settings > Wireless" and select disable then click apply

Thanks for the reply.

Will the Netduma restrict my bandwidth to 120-145? Or is that only for the wireless signal? Can the Netduma perform to its fullest with a 250 pipeline?

Still a little hesitant on purchasing, but my hands are really itching for one.

The Netduma can handle gigabit speeds :) You will only get about 50Mbps through the Netduma Wifi but you have the Time Capsule for Wifi so that shouldn't be an issue.

So the Netduma is a gigabyte router? But only has 120 capability on wifi single band "N" ? Are there plans move to a more powerful wifi protocol? AC dual band/tri band?Upgrade the hardware? They've gotta be considering it, right?

Oh yah, is there a USB port for an external HDD? Just out of curiosity.

Yes, it is a gigabit router, has gigabit hardware and can handle gigabit speeds :) On the Wifi, I don't think you will be able to achieve more than 50Mbps.

I don't believe there are plans to change the hardware. The main reasons for that is that at the moment, for a gaming router, the current hardware seams adequate - people who want faster Wifi just buy a Wifi extender or something like that and then they can have it. You said you have a time capsule, right? You can use that for the Wifi on the Netduma, turn the Wifi on the Netduma off and you will get whatever Wifi speeds you were previously getting  :)
