MadBrad
G'day Netduma team, I just wanted to jump on this forum and say hello and thank you! After a week with this router I have nothing but praise to give. Call of duty has been unplayable for me since Ghosts because of the absolutely terrible match making (Hey guess what COD developers, America isn't the only country! stop putting me in their lobbies ya buggers!) which got me pretty cut because I love the fast paced smash ya face FPS. The effects this router had were immediate, I went from 100% of games with a 0.5kd - 1kd in Advanced Warfare to 90% of games with 2.5kd - 5kd. Hell, the 2nd day of playing I had a 25-0 game. I have tested all Cods and Battlefield and the results are definitely repeatable. Another great side effect of the router is I could say to my mates, "I bloody told you it was lag that was screwing me!". I really can't wait to test it with Black Ops 3, I'm sure most of the Cod player base are waiting for it to be released and I know I will get some epic action. Thanks again guys, I will spread the name of this holy beast 'The Netduma R1' to all I know. P.s. My friend jumped on board as soon as I told him my thoughts. I know for a fact this trend will continue to all of my gamer friends that are sick of LAG Regards, Brad

Asentrix
Good to hear mate , those American lobbies are deadly when you're an Aussie player T.T I bought this for the exact same reason you did , so it's good to see another Aussie with a netduma / positive feedback. Mines due to arrive on the 4th , so I hope it helps me out the same way it's helped you

Icetyger
Hi MadBrad and everyone else. I'm another Aussie gamer that's struggled with lag ever since I started playing online games, way back in 2007 on my PS3 (yeah, I'm a late starter). Any success I've had while playing online, came from ambushing the enemy (AKA; camping, which was accompanied by a tonne of hate messages), playing against completely clueless players and plain old luck. My lag issue has always been compounded by the fact that I live in one of the most isolated cities in the world...Perth, Western Australia. After trying different ISP's for better speeds and connections, I soon learned that no one could provide me with a cheap ADSL connection with a speed suitable for online gaming. After researching everything I could understand about ISP's and internet connections, I came to the realisation I would have to pay extra for faster speeds to improve my lag situation. So I did. My current cable connection is hooked up to my PS3 & PS4 via ethernet cable (CAT5, I think) and provides me with speeds of up to 60Mbps download and a maximum of 2.4Mbps upload. After settling into my couch with my internet connection, I was bitterly disappointed to discover my lag issues remained. My last hope is to wait for the NBN (http://www.nbnco.com.au/) to be completed and then I should have a better experience. At least that's what I thought, until I realised that every other gamer in Australia would also have a NBN connection, so my speed would be the same as them, but my physical distance would remain the same...so nothing would improve. By pure fluke I stumbled upon the Netduma website after reading some posts in the official CoD:BO3 forums. Naturally I was intrigued, so here I am trying to learn as much as possible about the Netduma R1 router, in the desperate hope it can eliminate, or at the very least, reduce my lag woes. I'm reaching out to all the Aussies who own, or have played online, with a Netduma R1, to let me know if this router is the real deal. I don't mean to be skeptical, but I just can't afford to shell out over $200 without any positive outcomes, or the possibility of things getting worse. I would really appreciate any feedback and information anyone wishes to provide...
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 16, 2015 Administrators Share Posted November 16, 2015 Hey Icetyger, I'm sure some Aussies will be along soon to answer you questions. Gaming doesn't use much upload, less than 1mbps. The duma can make sure you get hosts in Aus so you don't have to experience games from the US etc which will give you lower pings and a smoother gaming experience
Icetyger
Hi Fraser. That's good to hear. Even when I'm connected to people in Sydney on the other side of country, I can experience some pretty horrendous lag at times. Of course, it doesn't help that the eastern states cities have already received access to the NBN, while my suburb has black spots that can't even receive a satellite signal for wireless ADSL. I can understand that though to some degree. After all, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have a much larger population than Perth, so it makes sense to service those areas first. But my suburb isn't even on the schedule for the NBN rollout. That's just stupid given how bad the internet service is around here. But I digress. I'm looking forward to hearing from the Aussies about the R1 router...
A7Legit
R1 is awesome. I'm from Victoria using it with Telstra cable. The geo-filter is my favourite feature the R1 has to offer for online multiplayer games, but the team continues to add and improve features which is why I've happily owned mine since Dec 2014. Icetyger
Hi A7Legit. Thanks for your comment. The geo filter is the main reason I'm interested in buying the R1, but given that I live in Perth, I would have to set the distance of the geo filter far enough that it allows me to connect to my friends in the eastern states, which runs the risk of connecting to neighbouring countries where the lag would be horrendous. The difference to playing with a host in Sydney and a host in New Zealand is very noticeable and utterly horrendous, so I'd be looking to eliminate the possibility of joining any host outside of Australia. I just took a look at your gaming set up (from your profile). That. Is. Fully sick...
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 20, 2015 Administrators Share Posted November 20, 2015 You can place your location in the middle of Aus and encompass just Aus and block out NZ and other countries, the location doesn't need to be fixed to your exact location

Thanks for the kind words What I do so that I can play with mates throughout Australia and Australia only is set my Geo-filter's home location in the center of Australia and then expanded the distance only enough to cover the entirety of Australia (whilst still fitting in Tasmania as well), works well and I block out everyone else. Just as Netduma Fraser suggested, I basically said the same thing he said to assure you that it does work.
Icetyger
That's exactly what I wanted to hear A7Legit. I discovered you could position the center of the geo filter anywhere you want the other day, essentially eliminating all other countries from matchmaking. That basically sealed it for me. I really have to get a Netduma R1. While I may still have to put up with some lag when connected to some eastern states games, it can't be any worse than it is now. Thanks for your input guys. I'll be grabbing an R1 ASAP...
