Hi,

Valorant seems to be a hit or miss being detected in its existing Activity under Gaming (or Valorant activity itself).

  • Application name: VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe (Riot games Launcher -> Launching the primary Valorant exe)
  • Device type used for capture: Win 11 on PC desktop, hardwires, closed other apps.
  • Any other comments: Not using xbox gamepass. DumaOS R3 latest beta firmware since October '24, R3 is brand new. PC was labeled as PC device, had issues. Relabeled as game console, same issues. I noticed when it does detect the first game of the day, once I go back to the main menu and requeue, the Valorant/Gaming Activity stays offline. Relaunching doesn't bring it back as active for smartboost. Riotgames/Valorant does have a webpage on what ports they use. Maybe this will be a good resource on top of the files. I really want valorant to always be detected when myself and/or wife are playing on separate PCs.

Valorant menu to matchmaking to a few rounds in game.pcapng 22.92 MB · 1 download valorant end of swiftplay to menu and back to a swift play 2 rounds in.pcapng 24.22 MB · 1 download

Fraser, any update on Valorant being fixed so it's properly detected outside of the "unknown gaming" ?

It'll be in the next cloud update that should have been pushed but not sure it has, I'm checking with the team

I made an interesting discovery this past week regarding netduma routers (and possibly, this might apply to all other brands). If your ISP blocks priority tagging when setting up VLAN/Bridge mode on your 3rd party router, you might not be able to take advantage of most of the features your "gaming" router offers. (e.g. traffic prioritization, QOS/congestion control, etc). I have a netduma R3 and the XR1000 and whenever I play COD, there was always this consistent lag/ping spike I couldn't place my hands on. I am on a 500mbps up down FTTH connection and have changed ISPs and packages several times all because of this undescribable lag/ping spikes when gaming. Finally, i decided to setup my XR1000 using my PPPOE credentials and under the vlan/bridge setting, I set the vlan tag provided by my ISP. But the setting that changed everything for me was the vlan priority setting (values ranging from 0-7). I think most ISPs set the value as 0 (best effort) by default which is not the best for gaming. If you want to experience less lag, I'll suggest to use values 6 or 7 (which are the most ideal for low latency gaming). Unfortunately, this setting is not available on the R3 as far as I know. A work around for that might be to disable DP inspection, but, you get to lose all the features that smart boost has to offer. That's why I'm sticking with the XR1000 for now pending when features like nat filtering, vlan priority tagging is available on the R3.
