New update?

Recommended Posts

I factory reset my xr1000 last night as I was having some internet issues and when it was checking firmware it said there was a new firmware.

it updated from 1.0.0.64_1.0.49

to 1.0.0.68_1.0.54

I checked netgear and there isn’t any word of it was I suppose to get that update or should I go back to .64 for now

I haven't been told they're releasing it but it may be a slow release just to ensure there is no issues with it before rolling it out across all the routers - if it auto updated then I think you'll be good to stay on that version

I see on the netgear website they have the .68 firmware now in downloads should I update again using that or should I be good as I already done it?

Priority boost does it add only on traffic prioitization or it does more than that?

It's a temporary Traffic Prioritization rule essentially and doesn't do any more than that

Broken in what way? It is listed on the official Netgear support site: https://kb.netgear.com/000065541/XR1000-Firmware-Version-1-0-0-68

Its not the original one from earlier in the post

I RETESTED IT SEEMS TO WORK NOW BUT THERE'S NOTHING NEW EXCEPT SECURITY UPDATES AND SOME FIXES TO ARMOR UNLESS I AM LEGALLY BLIND

CORE ISSUES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED ARE THE FOLLOWING

  1. BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION UPLOAD NOT BEING APPLIED EXCEPT DOWNLOAD
  2. DEVICE MANAGER BEING UPDATED SLOWLY
  3. AD BLOCKER NOT SHOWING LIST WERE YOU HAVE TO ADD IT MANUALLY = RE SYNC DOES NOTHING WHICH IS WHY YOU HAVE A SEPARATE FORUM FOR THE SCRIPTS
  4. DUMAOS CLASSIFIED NOT PRIORITIZING PROPERLY
  5. NOT SHOWING POLYGON MODE IN APK MOBILE EXCEPT CIRCLE MODE

I DON'T MEAN TO BE A DUSHBAG BUT THIS IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING I DON'T NECESSARILY FEEL LIKE WAITING 1.5 YEARS JUST TO SEE SOME SECURITY UPDATE FIXING MINOR ISSUES PLUS STILL MISSING FEATURES LIKE HYBRID VPN COMPARED TO EVERY OTHER ROUTER THAT YOU HAVE IN THE CATALOG.

Netgear had to get an update out as soon as possible with the security vulnerability fix, I'm sure you can understand that protecting peoples home network is the most important thing so they couldn't wait. Further updates are coming.

Thanks for the update Fraser.

With regards to the latest security update, do we need to do a factory reset after the upgrade? Or is this only for certain updates like 3.3 etc?

It's generally recommended yes but if you're not having any issues no need, if you do get issues then I would suggest doing so. Unless we specifically state to do so or if there is a big shift in functionality like going from 3.1 to 3.3 you should be able to get away without doing one.

This hasn't been updated for a while, Fraser.

I check this for when the latest XR1000 firmware is out, if there are other means of being updates then please let me know.

I'm going to try and get someone to update it today but also keep an eye on the download site for the XR1000 https://www.netgear.com/support/product/xr1000#download
