Mobel
@l2eactionzhe has it on 1440p. @Fuzy do you have VRR enabled ? thats maybe why u see the different hz if so disable VRR and u would get a locked 120hz ( but im not 100% sure if that is on the Series S as well). But normally the S series is supposed to manage 120hz stable in 1440p (in 1080p, I don't see any difference), which is the case on Vanguard (campaign and Multiplayer)! On the MW2 multiplayer beta, I got the same results between 80 and 100 hz in memory VRR... The is not optimized or just too greedy for the xbox series s, obviously.... K0NSPIRACY
I don’t think you need all those options selected in General Video Modes settings. I’m playing on XSX and only have Allow 4K selected and I’m playing in 1440p at a solid 120Hz. I did used to have VRR enabled however I’ve disabled due to apparently being buggy and causing Xbox controllers to freeze (my Elite2 has been freezing in the last few weeks and have to reboot console). I haven’t noticed any difference visually with VRR disabled so far. Try testing with: Allow 50Hz: disabled Allow auto low-latency mode: disabled (mine is greyed out so can’t be selected anyway) Allow variable refresh rate: disabled (I don’t know why you have a drop down menu there) Allow YCC 4:2:2: disabled Allow 4K: enabled Allow HDR10: disabled Auto HDR, Allow Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision for Gaming are all greyed out for me. It is the VRR that must be deactivated on this game (remains to know its exact usefulness on xbox serie s...) Because when it is activated I am more efficient! The disabled is a placebo, I think! The refresh rate is not really constant 120hz, disabling it is a mistake ! 11 hours ago, K0NSPIRACY said: Allow variable refresh rate: disabled (I don’t know why you have a drop down menu there) There are 2 modes: Always on or only on for games. K0NSPIRACY
I think you need to research VRR and see what it actually does. If you don’t suffer from screen tear or misaligned pixels with it off then you don’t really need it.
Fuzy
I especially think that we should not confuse screen refresh rate and FPS! MW2 is just more greedy compared to the old COD, on Xbox serie s, we cannot reach constant 120FPS compared to VG or CW etc. To put it simply, an XBOX one X or S or even a first generation one can allow a refresh rate of 120hz on a compatible TV or monitor but this does not guarantee you 120FPS .... This is the reason why I say that MW2 is not optimized!
Fuzy
What intrigues me now is the minimum FPS of the x-series on MW2 "with VRR". Because if like me you choose to deactivate the cross platform (Because obviously you will be at a disadvantage compared to the PC player with an optimal configuration). On MW2 we will be equal or disadvantaged compared to the X series without the cross platform!
K0NSPIRACY
I don’t know if there is a way to check FPS on Xbox? All I know is that I get a stable refresh rate of 120Hz on XSX. I do agree with playing with crossplay disabled as a lot (not all) of PC players will have an advantage. I find it very annoying that PS players can disable crossplay in Warzone but Xbox can’t. I don't have XSX but I would like to know if it holds 120FPS on MW2. Which could be an advantage over the other xbox platform!
K0NSPIRACY
Yeah it does. I use an LG 27GP850 monitor. https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-27gp850-b

There’s an FPS counter that can be displayed as part of the monitor but I don’t know if that is accurate and truly represents FPS or refresh rate…but it’s at a solid 120 with or without VRR. It used to fluctuate very slightly when playing MW19 and Warzone but mainly in menus/loading screens as it did with Halo Infinite.
Mobel
@Fuzy @K0NSPIRACY I am on PS5 with a Samsung ls28ag70 https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-g7-s28ag70. I see also 4k@120hz with or without VRR, with VRR enabled I see only in the main menu pre-match the fps fluctuating between 90-100fps but as soon the match starts it goes to 120hz (on Cod Vanguard, Warzone, MW2 beta) and it does this on 1080p and 4k@120hz. Btw 1440p@hz as well for the games mentioned above. Btw I dont use VRR I have it disabled because I have no screen tearing and have input low lag mode on (with VRR it gets greyed out on my monitor) @Fuzywhy u have allow 4k enabled ? As u play on 1440p and is your screen able to do 4k ?

I agree…it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but apparently it’s a software bug and can cause controllers to freeze. Controller freezes seems to be a common issue, and there are plenty of comments about it on the internet and Reddit if you search for the issue. I only tested disabling VRR a few days ago and so far haven’t had any controller freezes, and it used to happen at least 3 or 4 times per night whilst playing COD (mainly in the menus).
