Hi.

Is there any difference with changing DNS in the PS4 network settings?

There are a lot of YouTube videos out there stating so.

No its snake oil it does not help with ping and if you put a dns server that is far from you it could add to the lag. I used to think this and used googles dns but it made it more laggy my default dns was better. If you insist on using a diffrent dns i suggest using a program that tells you the fastest dns in your location.

I used that program Benchmark to find the fastest DNS servers closest to me but only use them in my router. Doesn’t make gaming any better putting them in the console, just like Wrath says it will add lag or make it worse.

Those vids on YT, don’t believe everything people say or publish.

Nah man I don’t believe most of the bullshit on there but just wanted other opinions as to weather it makes a difference or not, an always up for testing new settings.

  • 2 weeks later...

somthing i did notice   from tryong many diffrent dns servers ip

using my isp dns  made my ps4 speeds more consistant in ps4 tests

before the speed test results would constantl be diffrent

But with my isp dns it would be   better

and i only ever used  one dns

eg  79.79.79.79

I put this in twice on  ps4 for primary and secondary

As i read somwhere that use the same dns twice

Using 2 difrrent ones causes problems

Eg 79.79.79.79        79.79.79.80 this is meant to be bad
