On iw Im getting moderate nat. If I connect the xbox direct to the sky q router (no netduma used in these tests)I get open Nat on the xbox 1. but moderate on the game.

If I put the xbox in the dmz on sky router I still get the same. Open Nat on xbox. moderate on iw game.

If I turn all the firewalls of on the sky q router and just have the xbox 1 connected (dhcp enabled) I get the same result. Xbox 1 says open but the game still says moderate. I'm in the uk is everyone else getting moderate nat type in the game. Is this an issue with the game servers.

On all the tests the xbox 1 said open but it did say I was behind a cone nat.

Just trying to understand networking a bit better.

Thanks

I had the same issue on ps4.

This helped me:

Untick upnp in the Duma settings and apply

Tick it again and apply.

Hard turn off your console and then start it again.

Helped me on ps4. Maybe it can help you on Xbox too.

I port forward and have turned off upnp to get open NAT in game.

Upnp used to get me open NAT in game all the time but for some reason it doesn't now.

Try that ;)

The issue as I have discovered and have suspected before but after doing a 1 on 1 with someone the other day have confirmed it. They do not request the ports correctly. So that means that port forwarding/UPnP could be working correctly but it doesn't show as open. So it's very much a misreading, if the console is open then it is highly the game is open as well. Anyway the way we got around it was having the game ports forwarded, opening MWR which does request the ports correctly then going to IW and it works.

Been doing as Fraser has suggested for a while now with no issues, bit of a pain but no big deal.

I would remove the ports you have forwarded that over 30,000 and add these ones instead:

80 UDP/TCP

443 UDP/TCP
1935 UDP/TCP
3478-3480 UDP/TCP

Make sure you are fully powering down the xbox one after putting into dmz or applying port forward rules, press and hold button for 10 seconds til you here the faint buzz, after light on power brick has changed back to orange power xbox back up via button on front of console, could also give the netduma a reboot after applying port forward rules to ensure your settings have saved

Ok it gets worse.

Put ports in as requested. Removed the above 30000

The xbox 1 say strict nat. Your network is behind a port symmetric nat

Reset everything a couple of times

I tried that benormous. I reset the netduma then hard reset the xbox.

I then turned everything off.

Turned on sky hub and waited for it to fully start

Then turned on the duma and waited 2 mins

Then turned on xbox from full shut down.

Still strict.

Thanks 4 the help on this

Just in the Duma and that is the IP address of my Xbox yours will be different of course.

Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the Dumas IP address in the DNS.

Or like me I've left the IP automatic as I game that often the lease never runs out :)

I removed the netduma and connected the xbox to sky hub

with UPNP on and all IPV 6 firewalls disabled I can get open NAT on xbox, MW and IW

I reconnected the Netduma (left firewall off and UPNP on, on sky HUB)

on the netduma I actiated Port forwarding as suggested Benormous. Moderate nat type on xbox, MW and IW.

with Netduma still connected (left firewall off and turned UPNP off, on sky HUB)

on the netduma I actiated Port forwarding as suggested Benormous. strict nat type on xbox, MW and IW

with Netduma still connected (firewall off and UNPN off, on sky HUB)

on the netduma I actiated UPNP. Moderate nat type on xbox, MW and IW

with netduma connected (firewall off and UNPN on, on the sky HUB)

I turned port forward off and activated UPNP on the netduma.......AND WAIT FOR IT.........OPEN NAT ON XBOX, MW AND IW

so in my current config.

I have netduma in the DMZ on the sky HUB.

All firewalls disabled on the Sky HUB

UPNP enabled on both netduma and Sky.

under setting Miscellaneous. enable upnp forwarding

static IP on the xbox

at this moment it seems to work. Dont know why but scared to reboot anythng again. lets see how this goes
