newbie help!!

Recommended Posts

hi guys

I've just got my netduma yesterday  .I'm on sky fibre i've sorted my nat on my ps4 its now open i've run tests on buffer-bloat my cc is set now to 52% upload 52% download i'm getting A+ on the test across the board. i've got my geo filter set to around 650 miles  . What i've noticed is i never start a new game in bo3 i'm always thrown into a loddy thats already halfway through a game i  have to play that and then i start i new game without the geo filter on most of my games start as a new game not often do i join a existing  game . Also i'm a very very bad player  :o  and what i feel is i'm defo getting great connections with  the geo filter on but i've lost the skill-based matchmaking that bop 3 users to find a balanced match and now with the geo filler in use i'm in lobbies with great players also with great connections as i've restricted what  lobbies i join so we've all got great connection and no lag   so i'm actually doing worse as a result before maybe i'm playing with players and there's lag but i'm with other crap players as the match makings doing its job if your a top A+ killer in cod you don't need skill based matchmaking so a fantastic connection is what your after netduma does that  and puts you on a level playing field so i'm wondering do you lose the skill based matching making and gain better connection with the netduma .

thanks

try leaving the bufferbloat settings you got as they are and disabling geo filter and play a few games.....sbmm is a pain in the ass........theres different consensus about it and how to get around sbmm....another is to get the ideal bufferbloat but then set the ps4 with a very low upload limit in cc to about 1mbps with share excess unticked.     theres many theories and suggested solutions i could go on about it all day!

welcome to the duma army also.

Hi Gramps, welcome to the fold.

I would say, on both counts, that these are coincidental.

The game does not seem to prioritise pre-game lobbies over games-in-progress anyway.

However, by using the Geo Filter (thus limiting your server pool) you will obviously have fewer options of lobbies to join and so of course will have fewer that have not yet started, so it is a possibility that you will have a slightly higher chance of hitting a game in-progress but as we don't know how many/few potential lobbies there are this may well be negligible.

In my experience the game seems to prioritise getting you into a game as quick as possible regardless of whether it has begun already or not.

My first lobby yesterday was with the Geo Filter turned off, it put me into a game-in-progress in the US (I'm in the UK). I don't believe that there were no pre-game lobbies in Europe at 7.30pm. Even less do I believe that there were no games in-progress in Europe that had at least a single slot that I could have joined (I was playing solo). From experience, I know that in BO3 it will happily throw you into a game that's 10 kills in, 20 kills in, 50 kills in, or 99 kills in, so there was no reason to put me on the US servers.

Regarding skill-based match-making:

I hate SBMM and I'm happy to say that I don't think it has much sway in BO3 at all. I am nearly prestige master 500 now with pretty decent stats and I regularly get games peppered with players that have barely progressed in the game (in time spent playing and ability). I frequently see lobbies where my KD is double or triple anyone else in the lobby. So again, I think this is just coincidence that you're seeing un-SBMM lobbies.

That said, trying new settings and experimenting is what it's all about, so have at it and let us know what you see.

guys there's great advice there and to be honest i play mostly hardcore mode, and that could explain getting only game in progress  lobbies and maybe there's a higher standard of players play that mode which could explain why  the SBMM feels off? . i'll go at it again tonight fingers crossed .

thanks for taking the time out to help me !

He is sponsored honesty don't believe word he says. . U tell me if it's still based and geo filter based at same time? We would wait 10 years for a game. Think really. Aw was skill based and it took forever at times to find a game then they removed it. I could post screen shots of 10 different lobbys and prove this wrong.. There is no skill based... Unless it's group all 1.0 and less in a lobby....

Seems with iw around corner. Servers are being removed and more bs happening. Another month time will be even worse.

I'm seeing more n more lobbys of 3 to 2 bar players. Why netduma isn't doing its job since last patch makes me think less and less players are on and some how getting in... About done with bo3. Seen less bs in advanced warfare and ghosts. Their answer is more supply drops will keep people interested.

what  makes me sad  are payable dlc content it splits the community  we need to see more free dlc  once you've paid for the game that should be it not ripping off loyal players that would at least keep us somewhat interested in coming back and playing theses games until the next shitty cod comes out !

Just allow people to turn off dlc so they can rejoin the main community like in mw3.

Unless I join my buddy who has no dlc finding games with full lobbies is a mare with only 3 map packs and they can bite my shiny sweaty ass before they get another penny out of my moth infested wallet.

it likely is skill based, but only for a limited amount of time.

Meaning when you apply a geofilter it looks for a skill based game...but can't connect to any, after 45 seconds it loosens it's policies until you find a match.

This is common with most skill based matchmaking they still want you to get a match in the end.

Let me know if you need any help with settings. I would usually recommend not worrying about buffer bloat at all and leaving anti-flood on 70/70.

Yep, I've never noticed any difference at all when gaming , if its A A, or just leave it at 70/70, no change. Even when others are online.
