BIG__DOG
if you mean ping as in game ping then that is dependant on the server that you are joining and it's location in relevence to your location. But your in game ping cannot be lower than your base ping which is provided by your isp........for example if you have a base ping of 10 then you cannot get a game ping lower than that. KILLBOY___
In Australia PS 4 BO3, Im about 70kms from dedicated server. Never had my netduma get me below 20 ping
Zennon
Home > ISP receives, ISP responds > home is your base ping. Home > ISP > server > ISP > home is the ping to the server. All round trip ISP's have many hops (routers) on the route and so can an IP that you ping.
KILLBOY___
So if my netduma is working correctly can I get the ping showing on my Host filtering lower than 26 ping. Otherwise my netduma is not worth it because I still have that lag that I have always had.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 7, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 7, 2016 What is your base ping? It's possible you're at the lowest possible given this. Dependent on what your base ping is could be lowered if you get a very close server

Otherwise my netduma is not worth it because I still have that lag that I have always had. A ping of 26ms is not what's causing your lag, that's plenty fast enough. If YOU are lagging then it's either local congestion (in your home) which can be mitigated with Anti-Flood + Hyper-Lane. If YOU are lagging because your ISP is over-subscribed or has a flakey network then that's something your ISP needs to deal with (find out with Ping Plotter). If your OPPONENTS are lagging then there's nothing that can be done except for getting other opponents in the lobby (use the Geo Filter and jump lobbies). A7Legit
Is it actually possible to get a ping lower than 26. I have messed around with all the setting etc and my ping always hovers around 26I get 9ms on my R1 to the Microsoft Azure BO3 server in Victoria, it's roughly 26km's from where I live (the Azure server is in the CBD). So if you mean round trip latency, the answer is yes, if you mean in Black Ops 3's BS ping measurement which IMO is not working correctly, the answer is still yes, at least in my experience (I get 4ms at times in the games ping measurement but usually 16-17ms). b00stg0d
If you're experiencing "lag" with an in game ping of 26ms you need to look at your LAN congestion by monitoring and adjusting slider and priorities and more than not see if it's controller or monitor lag. When I switched to a benq monitor from my "low -5ms refresh rate tv" I saw a considerable difference in response times and game smoothness. Im lucky, all I have going through my netduma is my ps4 and PC. Nothing else in the house. I have FTTH. I am close to a BO3 dedicated server (70 kms) so thats why Im not understanding why my Netduma ping could be lower eg like 9 as stated above. How do I find out what my "base ping" is? Edit, Im using a Asus gaming monitor
Zennon
You could use CMD and ping a local server or even better use ping plotter https://www.pingplotter.com/download/ And ping a local server in the Uk the two best are twitter.co.uk or bbc.co.uk type either into the target and press go, do not use the net while you test. Whats good is you find out your base ping and if you have a line issue with your ISP as you can see a plot of your jitter.

Zennon
This is an Australian IP i have just found doing a google (start page really wouldn't touch google) ns1.telstra.net 139.130.4.5 Also the dslreports jitter test show a ping to AUS https://www.dslreports.com/tools/pingtest look in the min category for your ping time. bagsta69
I seriously doubt that you would be able to tell the difference between a ping time of 26 and one of 9. It takes the average human around 300-400 ms to blink and the average human response time is over 200 ms. If the game attempts to even out the ping times so that everyone in theory is looking at the same thing in real time then your own reaction time is of more importance than that to a server. We are mostly aware of lag compensation and how it works etc and the game (black ops 3 at least) often gets this wrong. Welcome to online gaming in 2016. Seriously though a ping of 26 is pretty awesome.
Zennon
Like Bagsta says ping compensation evens it all out.I gamed on a 24ms ping for years when I was with IDNET and it was glorious.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 8, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 8, 2016 With your base ping, you're getting the best possible ping to the game with the duma. You could not get any lower, it's as close to your base ping as possible.
KILLBOY___
Last night I was put in a server in Brisbane, my ping ended up at 13 f(on the Duma) Game played pretty good but as you guys have stated, Im putting it down to lag comp. I did go the other way and using my Duma I choked my internet. I experimented about 20 times with my ul/dl, getting results in BO3 from 221 kbps right up to 3916 kbps. My normal rate is about 4300kbps. At one stage I had .1 u/l and .1 d/l giving me a speed of 93 kbps...game still played ok. Lag comp again methinks. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated
Zennon
The game very little bandwidth so it reality you are not throttling, it is nothing to do with bandwidth all to do with ping. Use congestion control to stop users on your network creating jitter using to make your width smaller has no effect as your ping stays the same and you still have left over width for the game packets to travel in.
