A7Legit Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Hi Duma army! Here is a tour of my home network! Let me know what you think. - Tom Left a comment and a like on your video on YT. May I ask, what type of ping do you get to the AU dedicated servers for (if you play) Call of Duty?

Tommy885 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Damn, that is nice! I am in the market for a cheap network server rack. Any advice? I got mine from a New Zealand second hand trading website called trade me. I don't know what you have in the UK but i'm sure you know, it seems that the bigger the rack the cheaper it is second hand the rack i got was RRP $1500, but second hand got it for $400. My one is 24ru which is way overkill for me. I guess it depends on what you are putting in it, if you are just puting in a patch panel and switch R1 and a file server you probs only need like 6-10ru. Just look around on your second hand trading websites i'm sure something will come up - Tom
Dillinger Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I've worked in Cable TV headends, Earth Stations, Cellular towers and with all sorts of satellite receiver wiring through the years. That is one of the cleanest and neatest "home systems" I have seen. Add a few string tied lines (you don't want to cinch down on cable ties with gear like this) in a nice uniform fashion, along with just a little wire routing and you are ready for a cover-shot! LOL Really nice brother!
Tommy885 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Thanks bro! yes i try not to use cable ties i mainly use velcro straps but i had to use cables ties to stop the Rj45 connectors from braking as there was some strain on the patch panel. - Tom

I have been to homes with really expensive gear in oak cabinets with crystal clear glass doors, only to find a fucking rats' of cables that took my 3 times as long to follow, as fix. I wish everyone was as neat, clean and detailed as you are. Including me.
Tommy885 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Thank you so much man! We are in the process of doing some renovations at my house and we are going to have a dedicated server room instead of a garden shed that leaks in the rain lol. Can't wait!!
secretface Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Damn bud I thought I was bad with two different punch downs and the rack mounted equipment. I ran 3 or 4 cables to each wall jack location, just incase LOL. Good stuff! I love to see someone got to such levels of networking, It makes me feel better about my own obsession. Love it!
