If you haven't already tried this - try rebooting the router. I always reboot my Netduma router prior to proceeding with an update. It seems to make things proceed more smoothly. Then once you return to the router's interface see if you can get the update to proceed. Would also recommend factory resetting your router after you update ( Settings>Troubleshooting>Factory Reset). Thanks.

This was from @Netduma Greg so please if you have any questions direct them to him. Hope this help. By default none of the COD servers allow pinging directly, when pinging happens on the UI for them we are doing additional work to do that. It should not influence gameplay in any way (sorry @Netduma Fraser I have to correct you there). The Stabilised state for Steady Ping is the only thing that directly influences the gameplay. Some details on what Steady Ping does exactly and why is it working even when we can't ping: Ping is always a request->response and we measure the time for this roundtrip. Steady Ping on the other hand just sitting on your router and processing the response part. Your game server sends these in perfectly uniform intervals (this interval is the tickrate), but when they reach you the intervals are not so uniform because of the internet. So what Steady Ping does that it applies an additional delay (this is what you see in the graph) so it has a window of time where it can make these responses arrive in order and in uniform intervals to your PC/Console, so in the game everything appears as smooth as the server intended. (Disclaimer: Ping and game traffic are different types of traffic in reality, but the mechanism is the same to process them) This is the reason why even if we can't ping (we don't have the request side) everything still works, or even if the ping graph might have a spike you will not see this in game because it might've happened on the request side. Also this is the reason in-game ping (graphs) are always more accurate.

FYI - probably more information than you were wanting. Sorry Frequency Bands: 2.4 GHz Band: This band is commonly used for Wi-Fi networks. It has a larger range but can be more crowded due to other devices using the same frequency, such as Bluetooth devices and microwave ovens. 5 GHz Band: This band provides faster data rates and is less crowded than the 2.4 GHz band. It is divided into more channels, allowing for better performance in environments with multiple Wi-Fi networks. Channels: Each frequency band is divided into channels. In the 2.4 GHz band, there are 14 channels (in some regions, only 11 are used), and in the 5 GHz band, there are typically more channels available, offering greater flexibility for setting up networks. Channel Width: The Wi-Fi channels have a specified width, which is the range of frequencies they cover. The most common channel widths are 20 MHz, 40 MHz, 80 MHz, and 160 MHz. Wider channels allow for higher data rates but take up more space in the frequency spectrum.

Game Server Load: The ping displayed in the game may be affected by the current load on the game servers. If the servers are experiencing high traffic or are under heavy load, it can result in increased ping times. Game Settings: Some games, including MW3, may use different methods or algorithms to calculate and display ping in-game. This can lead to variations compared to other tools or devices used to measure ping (ie R3)

What’s even more weird is why does it work for some and not others. We are all running the same firmware pretty much. Has anyone tried to factory reset? Does it help. Is it our connection that is the problem or our geographical location maybe. I’m on cable and in the eastern US. Just spitballing here.

Geo-Filtering doesn't work & other grievances

Do you recommend before we update the R3 to a new firmware to always reboot R3 before and after we update do a factory reset. Just curious. Thanks Fraser. -
Could having IPv6 enabled in LAN/WAN affect the Ping Optimizer and Speed Test not functioning. Just curious. Thanks Fraser.

Also reserve an ip address for the Xbox so the router doesn’t try to give the Xbox's address to another device.

Cannot play Fortnite on Xbox, one of the largest games
PharmDawgg replied to Megatf's topic in Netduma R3 Support
Netduma is suppose to be releasing a firmware 4.0.20 that fixes this issue. Did your R3 alert you of an available update? -
No problem that is what this forum is here for. These routers are what I refer to as bleeding-edge tech and with it comes issues. But as a community (Netduma and the Duma Army) we will help each other work through them. One of the Netduma mates will respond to you as soon as they can.

Sorry no config pics. I picked those ports up from playstation forum. I don't have a playstation and I only use upnp myself. No portforwarding for me. I game only on pc and xbox. I also believe there are some issues with the upnp function from previous posts currently with the R3 but I am okay with waiting until Netduma pushes out an update which I believe should right around the corner.

Netduma R3 and Extender AX1800 ; EAx15 Netgear Mesh Extender
PharmDawgg replied to boothay's topic in Netduma R3 Support
It is possible. I tried my Asus mesh nodes with Asus’ app and ended up having to factory reset both my mesh routers because it didn’t take. I recommend logging into the mesh nodes by way of pc and enabling access point mode. Then connect the wan port of the primary node to a lan port on the R3. Then you should be able to connect the mesh nodes by wirelessly or wired. -
Great job Netduma. I was able to install the router with ease. The new web gui is very sleek and streamlined. It is truly a significant upgrade from the R1 and R2. It almost feels like a new and unfamiliar product but in a good way though. I was initially going to attach a mesh network to the router but decided to go ahead and try out the wifi. So as of right now it is the primary network provider in my home. I’m going to try put it through the paces. There were two apps that I was unable to use though. 1. Ping Optimizer.(I know I can set it up manually though) 2. Speed Test. (I just couldn’t get it to run). Internet Provider:Comcast Internet Type : Cable web Browser: Chrome

It should work if the mesh network is Asus products. Unsure of other manufacturers recommendations. Sorry.

No problemm I haven’t gotten mine yet. Hopefully it will be today. I will be replacing the xr700 with the R3.
-
I have xr700 lan to ax11000 (ap mode) lan and then i have the ax11000 connected to an rtax86u by way of a wireless backhaul. I couldn't do a wired backhaul but yes it would be more optimal.

I wonder if there is anything we can do when installing the new router to decrease the chance of this occurring.

Has this encryption standard been discussed for the R3. I know that WPA3 offers significant improvements to security, but I know not all devices may support WPA3, and in such cases, they may continue to use WPA2 or an earlier standard. I know it could be possible to have a hybrid version WPA2/WPA3 where the older devices would connect with the older standard encryption. Just a suggestion.

Sorry to jump in but I had a quick question do you recommend only connecting the R3 to a direct outlet and to not use a power strip. Thanks.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3
PharmDawgg replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
This is something that is happening to others as well. Netduma is looking into this issue so it can be made more reliable. Please report all the games that this seems to be occurring with during your gameplay. -
I believe that providing a definitive answer is challenging for them due to unexpected circumstances. Best-case scenarios is a delivery time of 2 to 3 days, but unforeseen events can cause delays. A prime example is my current situation; I'm on the East Coast, and my package, shipped on December 14 with an expected delivery date of December 21 which seemed to be longer than I would expect. As of now, the package has reached my city, and I have a feeling it will be delivered either tomorrow or Tuesday (18th or 19th) — yay! I believe it could have arrived sooner, but it had to be placed on hold due to inclement weather and had to wait for another transport. It is what it is, I guess. Trust me, Netduma will get it to you as soon as they possible can. I have a feeling they don't want you to be without your R3 any longer than necessary.

If you forward these ports on your router for the PS5 should resolve your issue as well but I would try the UPNP option first. Its ia alot less tedious. Just remember before you forward ports make sure you assign your PS5 a static ip address outside of your router's address pool. That way it won't try to give it to another device.
