blakeyb1
Hey guys just got a ps4 and can't get my full speeds to it, i'm on nat type 2 on there and only get 40/5 can anybody help?
PharmDawgg
Nat Type is good just means you're behind a router. Try this link for to improve speeds http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=fine_tune_netduma
blakeyb1
Done everything there i get 250 down to my xbox but when i switch to ps4 drops to
PharmDawgg
Is the PS4 hardwired into the R1? I'm sorry I'm on the Xbox One and am unsure about the PS4's setup. If you're doing the test through the PS4 I believe it can't be trusted. But one of our PS4 comrades will probably chime in on this as well. shantzonpoint
The PS4 has a bottleneck for uploading and downloading speeds unfortunately. Unless somebody has figured a way around it, you won't reach the speeds of the xb1.........kinda sucks.
Zero_Actual
I've had the ps4 since launch and it's always been this way. You won't ever see your max speeds. Rarely does does it ever go higher than 40/5. Just need to learn to accept it...
blakeyb1
Damn i thought it was something like that, what of waste of my speeds
lukasz
Well depends. If you go to PlayStation network shop and go to section whit movies and than click on some HD movie and run a test before watching the movie you will have different result(i have to be the in store test for movies). SO you have 2 tests form Sony both for PS4 and they can display totally different results. Therefore its is very in accurate and what i described its a prof of that. At lest in my case. When I run PS4 test I get 40 when I run PSN store test right after that one and I get 70.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted November 30, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted November 30, 2015 And just because the test shows you are only getting 40Mbps doesn't mean thats the max the console is getting or can use
A7Legit
I get nearly all my speed on my PS4, what you do is when setting up your MTU in the Netduma R1 (LAN & WAN) do NOT leave it on auto, manually put in the MTU (in my case it's 1500). Then go to your PS4 and also put the same MTU on the console side.
sharpz44
those that say the PS4 will only give you 40/5 is hogwash, my isp speed is 80/20 and always get tests back at around 55-66 down and always 10-15 up, also you might want to try a HTML5 test with the likes of speedofme.com in your web browser, though ps4 test will no display 250mbs test it`s not restricted to
Zero_Actual
If you are using speedofme to do your test then yes you will see your true (or at least close to) speeds. I wold like you to post a pic of the ps4 speed test showing that u get 50-65d/20u. I get/pay for 175d/25u and only get those speeds to show using speedtest or speedofme or testmynet. And the whole mtu thing hasn't made a difference. What I have noticed is that using googles DNS severely slows my speeds so I use my providers DNS or just enter the router ip into the DNS on ps4. Just saying but it seems as though the psn servers limit you. And how they or why I'm not sure. It just seems that there are plenty of people including those that pay for fiber claiming they are only gettin 30-40% of what they pay for when testing. blakeyb1
I'm ugrading the 1gb soon, so if i can't get my ps4 to use 250 1gb will be the same right? Can't figure out how to get more than 40/5 is psn throttling me or something? Not a big deal i still 1 burst with the m8 and eat the cake when it comes to b03 i'm just curious about downloads etc
A7Legit
Just sharing how my PS4 is setup and how speeds limited via PSN are not that dramatic. Ok, here's a more realistic speedtest of my connection: Here's my PS4's speedtest: Here's how my PS4 is setup (notice manual MTU setting): Ok so for things done differently, I'm not using DHCP, everything including how my Netduma is setup are all manual IP addresses, I leave nothing to DHCP. In the Netduma R1's settings option under WAN & LAN the MTU setting is manually at 1500, for me, this is optimal, your ISP and type of service may be optimal with another MTU setting, you'll need to look into that yourself. The other difference is I changed my Netduma's IP range from 192.168.88.1 to 192.168.2.1 (for my own reasons), I'm not saying this makes a difference but it is different from the other Netduma R1 routers. HTH.

I genuinely think it's something to do with upload cause my upload can go up to 100 but ps4 only gets 6 at max i can't find a way around i've tried every strategy and solution possible i think it's just ps4 speed tests cause i mean a 40gb download took 5 minutes, I'm fine anyway i just wanted to know if there was a way around it, thanks for the help everyone! Cajun72
A7Legit Can I ask how you knew what your optimal MTU setting was? Did you run an MTU test for this on your pc? I'm trying to find out how I get to find the best MTU for my network.
