tjl118 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 On my xbox, when i disable IPv6 I lose connection to xbox live. everything else seems to work just fine. are there any additional setting I need to change? Also i have not tested this on the PS4 and was wondering if anyone had the same issues? Additional question: What are the benefits of disabling the IPv6 on the duma? Tyler
tjl118 Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 I am getting my max speeds as well while having the IPv6 enabled but am curious as to why the xbox will not work for me.
Zennon Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Xbox one uses Ipv6 over teredo, so it needs to be enabled. Disabling Ipv6 on the Netduma can increase speed throughput.
PharmDawgg Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I run with IPv6 enabled due to it being provided by my ISP. My Xbox One seems to run better with it on and I have no loss to throughput. Tjl118 I would just leave it enabled. But you still should be able to connect to Xbox live with it enabled or not though.
Alex49H Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Only the IPV6 in LAN can be enabled but under WAN and Miscellaneous Settings it should be disabled.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 4, 2015 Administrators Posted November 4, 2015 Ps4 same situation? Do you have an IPv6 address?
Net-1 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Just butting in..... I was looking at the recommendation to disable ipv6 which I have done. but wasn’t ipv6 meant to improve packet processing efficiency/time across the net wouldnt that improve latency/ping? which is what we are all about..... edit: Ok irrelivant for me ....I have just read that the PS4 dosent even support ipv6! Finally something for the xboners to shout about... (sorry couldnt resist.....I am juvinile....)
kizvandutch Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 My isp is ipv4 but the netduma runs ipv6. So should I disable or enable my ipv6. Would there be conflicts? Cheers
PharmDawgg Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 If your ISP does not offer IPv6 I would disable it on the R1 in the WAN/LAN/Settings areas. If it does, like me, enable it. I haven't had any issues. And my speeds are found as well.
kizvandutch Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 For mtu should I follow ipv4 or ipv6? Mtu isp is much lower then the netduma mtu.
PharmDawgg Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 After you have made the determination whether to use IPv6 vs IPv4 then go to http://www.letmecheck.itand determine what the best value is.
kizvandutch Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 my mtu is 1472 is the highest not fragmented. should i have my netduma mtu set on lan + wan and my ps4 at 1472? or automatic
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted December 4, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted December 4, 2015 my mtu is 1472 is the highest not fragmented. should i have my netduma mtu set on lan + wan and my ps4 at 1472? or automatic Is that after you've added 28 to it?
II N3MES1S II Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Time Warner Cable is rolling out ipv6 in stages, though my modem is not set up for it right now. In this one online test it wouldn't test without using the test for ipv6 a few times and now it only works using the test for ipv4. Maybe there should be an auto feature in the netduma for those who don't know what they have.
tjl118 Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 What is the deal with the congestion control with the new firmware. everytime I try to add more bandwidth to a device it royally jacks up my speed tests. any thoughts or explanations?
