Feedback on good headsets?

Aye yall!

So, I have been contemplating for awhile about taking back my TurtleBeach XO Sevens and getting either a pair of Astro A40, or Astro A50s..? I like the quality I have with the XO7, but I hate the configuration to adjust the volume levels with the Microsoft adapter crap. (Thing in my opinion is awful) So my question is does anyone recommend the Astro over these Turtles? How much better is the sound quality or are they overrated? On bestbuy.com they both pretty much have the same customer feedback. So I'm just really looking for what the major difference is I'm going to see. (Already have done a review with these, so not really going to be butthurt to pay for a little better quality if its really worth it!)

Let your dude know what yall feel!

Gracias,
-Bleach

I had the X04 and it just sounded flat with no sound stage, I love pro audio so i bought a Astro mix amp for use with my Beyerdynamic headphones.

Dolby surround on the amp is wicked, I have not heard it with the astro headphones but I can vouch for the mix amp it rocks.

Crossy has had the 50s and 40s he will able to comment on the quality

And Jeff has just bought the 50s.

I have the sennheisser pc360 hooked up to an astro mixamp to my ps4. Great sound, better than any gaming headset Ive had which include sonys' and turtle beach and sound better than the astros IMO. Looking at the beyerdynamics MMX300 at the moment, anyone any experiences with them?

I had a set of Turtle Beach and they didn't fit my fat head very well.  I bought a pair of Astro A50's and haven't looked back.  Great headset, good sound and they aren't too heavy or cumbersome.

No I have not heard these.

They are closed back I like open back for music and gaming.

Music you get a wide soundstage like listening to speakers.

Wicked for pin point sounds in games and you do not shout as you can hear the room as if you do not have HP's on.

If you get a chance to lend or audition some open backs , you wont be disappointed :)

The sennheissers I have are open backs, the sound is very good though

Ah right, I can not use close back they feel claustrophobic after years of open back, you can hear your voice in your head when you are in chat haha.

The MMX300 do get good reviews on amazon.

One review says it is a beyer dt770 pro 32 ohm with a mic, you can pick up the dt770 pro for around £100

dont buy a gaming headset but regular headphones + mic, eg antlion modmic

along with a dss2 for best sound or mixamp if chatting is a priority

dont buy the T1, without an additional amp on the mixamp its not going to shine at all as the mixamp already starts to struggel with 30-60 ohm headphones

my recommendations on gaming headphones based on budget

- superlux hd681 for budget buy (for 20$ you get way better sound than with a 400$ A50)

- audio technica ad-700 (same drivers as superlux but better built, now sold as ath-700x or something called that way)

- akg k701/702 or q701 (basically an enhanced ad-700 with even wider soundstage)

for gaming you want a very low bass headphone with huge soundstage which already sorts out most closed headphones

the three recommendations above are outstanding in that regard with the akg having one of the biggest soundstage you can find in a headphone

overall i wouldnt spent more money than 200$ on a headphone intended for gaming, soundfiles in games are hard compressed and console soundcards usually suck too which also applies to the gaming dolby decoders, therefore at some pricepoint you wont notice any real gain in better sound quality when spending more money

I have a 600ohm capable amp for music and i thought that the t1s would sound crap on the mix amp , wrong they are louder than my 32ohm HP's and sound just a dynamic as if i was powering them with a expensive amp.

There was no suggestion that anyone should by the t1s in any part of this thread.

I was asked what I used.

I suggested the sony mdr ma 900 which has a massive sound stage and is killer with the mix amp.

But the t1s smash the sonys to bits on the mix amp.
