Trouble deleting devices

MannyQ

Recommended Posts

When trying to delete a device no longer on my network , it either states its still active on the network and does not allow me to hit the delete . And for the other device I delete but then after a few seconds reappears. I know i no longer have them on my network as they are my friends tablet and phone. I have tried reset via software and via plug and still getting the issue. When I check the device manager I can see they are not on the network. Any ideas?

You have to turn off the devices then reboot the duma to then delete them.

We've tried that in chat - it doesn't work :)

I should add that there is a feature planned on the ticket system that would probably fix this. http://ticket.netdumasoftware.com/ticket/24

I have the same issue strangely enough I can't delete my PC from the devices even though I haven't connected with my PC in forever. After reboots through the settings and pulling the power it won't go away. I don't feel like doing a factory reset again lol

Thats quite strange, can you try it using another browser or Chrome/Firefox if you're not already using those.

I use Firefox on my PC, but I tried in my PS4 browser as well as my iPhone and it said "The device cannot be deleted because it is still active. Please disconnect the device, reset the router then delete the device." even though it said "dormant" no matter how many times I rebooted... I did use my PC to access it via WAN but I always did that before and it was never listed as a device. Factory reset did fix it though.

Okay thats odd, should have been deletable after a reboot, good to know a reset fixed it though :)

Yeah, I did. And when he says a hundred, there literally was a hundred (no joke) un-named devices on the network - all inactive. Pressing the delete button didn't do anything. Had a look at the chrome console, and the POST request sent when the button was pressed was still pending after 3 mins. He did factory reset which removed the devices but they must have come back. Just posting this as some more info. Problem seams to be 1) Loads of random devices, 2) not being able to delete any of them :)

MannyQ,

Are you still having the issue with all the unnamed devices?  If so I'm wondering what types of things are connected to your network?  Is there anything that disconnects and gets reset a lot? I'm wondering if reserving the IP on DHCP lease section of the settings would stop the mystery devices from appearing.  Or is your house actually a hotel with many guests every week?? haha.

Yep still having same issue. When i look at the mac address for these unnamed devices they are different so not one device connecting disconnecting. House feels like a hotel sometimes lol but not that many visitors for the amount of devices .strange thing is that it could stop all of a sudden then nothing for weeks then starts again for no reason. Not sure if reserving ip will help as these unnamed devices are not getting an ip allocated.

There are so many devices that i cant adjust the congestion control as you can see by the screen shot i sent in the 1 to 1 request. i have blocked the devices and not deleted as i wanted the support to see what i mean by 100's of devices. What would be useful for your future upgrades is that if you block a device it should not show on the congestion control

Are you sure it couldn't be a virus on one of your devices? Maybe run an antivirus on all your devices and try changing your Wiif password just in case.

I am absolutely sure this isn't a virus, only pcs connected are  a work laptop and two personal ones which have bit defender running and are regularly run, all smart phones and tablets also have anti virus and again run regularly.  yep only 2 weeks ago i changed the wifi password. This has been occurring since i got the netduma. When i was just using my super hub i did not see this happening

That is some crazy stuff there Manny.  You're part of a bot net or something.

yo, I have the same problem with an old dormant device that was wired. it will let me delete it but if I reset the power on the router it will bring it back. wireless was always disabled and enable cookies is checked.
